I run very fast because I desperately want to stand very still. My not real name is Seanna Birchwood, but even off of the internets, some people call me Seanna (sea-anna). I am fiercely against violence (is this sentence an oxymoron?) and am extremely protective of the environment. I believe that for a sustainable future and for a peaceful society, vegetarianism will need to be adopted by a majority of people. The United Nations has said likewise concerning the food crisis, though I have my own thoughts on that. I was born in December 1991. I am a pansexual ciswoman in a polyamorous relationship. I am a vegan and a pagan. I am a writer. I am working toward my PH.D in Sociology. Tentative specialties include: urban, street, communities and groupism, linguistics, and aspects of space. I am fluent in English, almost in Japanese, and then can function with worsening degrees in French and Spanish. I am studying Mi'kmaq, Arabic, and Korean, as well. My favourite artists are The Gazette, Billy Talent, and Linkin Park. I’m loosely involved in the Gazette and jRock fandoms. A crop of Rhubarb lasts around five years or more, which means it‘s often planted at the end of the garden away from the other vegetables. In other words: life as a Rhubarb can be a lonely existence, and finding others to keep up with their relentless intellectualism can be a challenge. Imaginative Rhubarb is perhaps most notably delightful in deserts. But beware, forgetting about the other ingredients making up the pie can come across as arrogant and judgmental. Jacks-of-all-trades, about half a dozen of these hard-working plants can yield enough for a family of four—a great source of confidence for the Rhubarb.

hexing people is: harming them, abuse. hexing people is: without consent manipulating their surroundings to make them feel bad, this is abuse. hexing people is: intentionally causing harm to another person, without them knowing or being able to do anything about it. abuse and manipulation. it is both physical and emotional abuse. it is not okay. it scares me so much that people think this is okay. what is your opinion on hexing people?

So my brother owns a gun for self defense. 

He’s never shot anyone, but he knows how to (and so do I). 

Hypothetically a robber breaks in to our house and starts smashing our stuff and kicking our dog. So I take the gun and say,

“You better stop fucking up my house and hurting my dog, or else I’ll just plain shoot you.”

“Wait!” says the robber. “That is abuse! You are going to harm me without my consent and manipulate my body in ways I do not agree with.”

“Yes,” I say, “but it’s going to stop you from hurting my dog.”

But when it comes to magic, it usually isn’t robbers who are kicking your dog. It is usually predators who are hell-bent on ruining your life. It is usually bosses, co-workers, former friends, exes, or even family who are out to hurt you.

Attacking can be self-defense. Hey, if you just want to put up shields and let a monster bash away at your door forever, high five to you. I would rather magically shoot someone in the foot and get them off my back then be a victim forever. 

Are there shitty people who attack others for reasons we deem unacceptable? There sure are. And I sure wish there was less gun violence in the world. But you know, that’s not going to stop me from defending myself. 

I have hexed people, and I am sure I will do it in the future. I stand by my actions even though I am sure some people - likely even you, anon - would disagree. It is not my job to coddle people who hurt me and gently shoo them away with tender magical touches. It is not my place in the world to hide behind defenses while people who would hurt me and those close to me endlessly attack. I am someone who practices self-defense, and I am utterly unconcerned if that makes me an abuser in the eyes of some people.

I’m glad I came across this. It helps me understand a little better why some people might use curses or hexes. I personally won’t use them though, and I do wonder about the consequences, but these feelings are definitely valid.
