the kiss is important THE KISS IS IMPORTANTTTTT i'm sick of all of you people trying to convince me that they don't need to kiss because they're celestial beings or whatever like we did this discourse when the show first came out and it was stupid then and it's even stupider now bc EVEN IF you put aside the symbolic narrative reasons for which they should kiss, in what fucking world is it more revolutionary for the gay pairing to not kiss on tv. "let men be masculine" ass take
honestly, i think it was so cool of them to keep good omens as one standalone season and not try to cash in on the popularity of the crowley/aziraphale ship
:)
Can i now say that i hated the gomens sequel before it was mainstream or are most people still delusional
seeing the reactions and feeling happy, hydrated and at peace with the decision i made 2 years ago not to watch whatever they cooked up for the last installment
lmao
i don’t understand how neil gaiman intellectual properties still trend on here so regularly he literally trafficked women. like it’s not even a discourse thing or a “he’s problematic” thing he was “cancelled” for human trafficking. he repeatedly isolated women, usually his or his ex-wife’s fans, with no support system for the purpose of raping them while they were dependent on him for income and housing. that’s human trafficking
my life's quite stressful at the moment so I don't have the energy to respond to messages I've received, so this is just me letting people know I have seen them and I appreciate them 🩷
The collective amnesia people in this fandom have (or at least pretend to have) regarding the response to NG allegations is astounding. I'm seeing people who jumped into defending Michael Sheen be like "the entire fandom stopped supporting Gaiman the moment he was accused, we would definitely do the same with Michael if he really was abusive 🙄". Which is strange, because I don't remember that happening!! I actually remember those same people coming after anyone that pointed out Gaiman's creepy and inappropriate behavior before the allegations came out, I remember them accusing his victims of being liars and terfs and spreading conspiracy theories in order to discredit their stories after the allegations came out and I remember they only turned on him once the public opinion of him changed for worse, and even then all they could talk about was how much it hurt THEM that their favorite tv show was ruined or canceled or whatever.
it's just not credible. i would totally 100% believe her if only she met my rigorous standards for proof
it contradicts the image they previously projected to the public and therefore is not true. i believe her past word when she was saying what i wanted to hear, but now her word means nothing
calm down, dear, you're just exaggerating. every couple "quarrels"
it can't have happened because the doctors wouldn't allow him in there
but at the same time it is normal for men to be shouting in the delivery room and is in fact justified because the poor man was emotional (and only men can have emotions) at having to say "push", a thing i just completely pulled out of thin air
well he said this thing and he's a man so his word gets the final say
women are not allowed to be upset about being cheated on constantly by the father of their child because it isn't illegal. got it.
yes men potentially being killed by false allegations is a much more serious concern than women being abused, something extremely common across all societies. speaking up about abuse you've suffered is, in fact, a human rights violation
one can only assume this person is doing their absolute best to tip the scales of "speculation" in their favour, given the creative writing exercises they've been indulging in
...
i want to make it very clear that even if these allegations turned out not to be true, the above response is still absolutely piss poor abuse-enabling misogynistic horeshit
LOL O.K. yes lets all believe the words of the woman who is having a paranoid mental breakdown and posting AI generated videos about naricissim. She can't even spell things right and her grammar is very bad. This is delusional word salad from a woman who is experiencing mental illness and it's sad ya'll refuse to see that just because ""feminism"" even though she is hurting Michael's daughters, his partner Anna, and her own child Lily who last I checked are all women ! Kate has only ever said nice things about Michael in the past. She is having a mental breakdown and people like you are encouraging her when she needs help. Some ""feminist"" !
didn't realise i had anonymous asks on. hello.
where to start with this?
firstly, i am a feminist, though i'm not sure i've actually mentioned the word "feminism" anywhere recently so the focus on that is a little odd. secondly, i believe kate when she says she was abused. many, many women are and keep silent about it for years. having spoken positively about somebody in the past doesn't disprove that they were abusive. there are many reasons for people not disclosing the abuse they've experienced for a long time or acting as if it didn't happen. it's also common for people, especially women or those from marginalised communities, to not realise the extent of the abuse until much later due to the conditioning we all receive in a patriarchal society
i know from my own experiences that when you speak up about abuse, especially when the perpetrator is male--and a man who is held in high regard--you are often met with hostility and gaslighting which absolutely does affect your mental health. this idea that a "truly" abused woman would and should react with measured grace and no visible emotion (though lack of visible emotion is also weaponised against women btw) is misogynistic horseshit
realising the scope of systemic misogyny and the nature of the systems which uphold it, and the behemoth you are up against when you challenge it, can make you feel trapped, panicked, isolated. realising how futile it usually is to even try and push back against these systems, to protect younger women from going through the same, or to get any measure of personal justice, realising how much was taken from you? can make you feel resentful, jaded, vengeful. i'd actually say that's a pretty sane response
being overtly emotional and/or fixating heavily on the abuse and the response from others to the abuse, again, does not mean the abuse didn't occur. i haven't been keeping a close eye on kate beckinsale's online activity because... i have other things to do. so i haven't seen everything she's posted. if posting AI videos and having poor grammar are indications that one is acutely mentally unwell then i think most people using the internet are in serious trouble
we don't know any of these people on a personal level or what is going on behind the scenes so we can't comment on the "true" nature of their relationships or what they are feeling beyond what they choose to share publicly. jumping to conclusions about how these instagram posts are affecting others is pure speculation, as is doling out armchair psychiatric diagnoses
personally, what i see is a woman who has had time to reflect on what she's been through at various points in her life and who desperately wants to help other women so they don't experience that same pain
this situation is a really sad one and attacking people who are choosing to listen to a woman who says she was abused--especially when those people have talked about their own experiences as abuse victims--is a pretty shit way to respond to it
Michael Sheen was accused of abuse? That’s terrible! Surely, people will have twice the vitriol for him as they did for Chappell Roan earlier this week!
… Wait. What do you mean that’s not how people are reacting.
Kate Beckinsale has posted about being abused and cheated on by Michael Sheen.
Which I suppose explains his dissapointing response to what Neil Gaimann did.
yeah I really forced myself to ignore that even though the entire situation made me uncomfortable and I have literally never known a 50 year old man who knocked up a mid-20s woman who wasn't a total piece of shit. but this is the romanticising age gaps daddy issues app so...
another funny thing is that on twitter somebody searched my past tweets and found positive things I said about msheen in 2019 to 2023 and it's like yeah dude I've reacted to new information! that's actually what you're supposed to do!
"Damn this celebrity I blindly adored, defended from any kind of criticism and had a weird parasocial relationship with turned out to be a terrible person. There's only one sensible thing to do in this situation: find another celebrity to blindly adore, defend from any kind of criticism and have a weird parasocial relationship with. Nothing bad can happen!!"
like are we actually surprised people are calling her crazy and saying she's having some kind of psychotic break?
this is exactly what men (the men who run our media and have control of basically everything in our lives) do not want lmao. they do not want solidarity between different generations of women, they do not want women to develop true consciousness of misogyny and how it functions, how its perpetuated on an individual level and as a larger, structural oppression
girlboss, winged liner, pro-sex work, "I hate that I love men 😭" feminism is fine but not this
she's been through a bunch of traumatic shit recently, has had time to reflect, and come to the conclusion that men ain't shit and that she was taught to put up with awful treatment by a man who was supposed to love her and to be there for his child, and she's trying to stop younger women from going through the same. of course they're calling her crazy
(and of course I've seen people say they don't care because she's white and wealthy and isn't perfect. as if those things somehow prevent women from being subjected to misogyny and abuse 😑)
kind of amazing how my comfort book of decades turned into something I basically can't even stand to think about now
