WE’RE HERE TO LEND A PAW AND HELP!!
WILD WILD PUSSYCATS!
❛ it’s okay to fear. ❜
was it fear ? no, fear was what filled her when she saw a dog or open water / what she felt when she saw a beast with no weak point she could trace or the hand of a man who ruined her life grab for her ? that was indescribable. tomoko couldn’t convey to him how he felt. the words she once knew would stop in her mind and never pass through. yellow eyes stuck to one feature of his, an expression switching to one of sadness and desperation. ‘ i … i know that. ’ it was one of the things you had to know as a hero / you were going to be scared, but had to put on a brave face regardless. and she did. lord knows she tried for those kids. but she failed.
a hand ran though her hair, looking away again. every frame of that scene played in her head again. the dark of the warehouse she was thrown into. she didn’t talk about it, share it with the news. when she was pressed on it, she tried to shift the question. eyes got injured, concussion rendered useless - anything. tomoko hated reliving it ; she was sure the pussycats didn’t want to think about it either, so she faked all of her smiles and happiness around then for a long time.
but she was better. life wasn’t as difficult now and she could live a little more closely to how she used to. thinking about the events was hard, but not as crushing as they used to be. her heart still wretched, but her body didn’t concave. it was just a bad reaction to being called ragdoll that set this off.
‘ fear isn’t the right word, i don’t think. i'm not scared of my future ... not anymore, at least. ’ pale hands held onto her shoulders, the fixation on his face switched to corner of a tile on the floor. tomoko gave a short shake of her head, brows narrowing a bit. a moment of silence and concentration before a shrug. ‘ whatever, i try not to think about it. ’
she smiled once more, resuming her regular attitude while grabbing her phone from the desk. he had caught her right as the pussycats were caught up in something. she wanted to go watch them, but stayed back to talk with him when he showed up. it lasted longer than it probably should, switching into the night where she had disappeared and when she was found, tattered and catatonic. the disband from the pussycats and how she seemingly fell off of the face of the planet for a few weeks. ‘ anything else you need ? i have … a lot of time. ’ that smile switched into a grin, somewhat forced, fingers switch to a peace sign next to her face in reflex. ‘ i’m your gal if you had questions. ’

ragdoll, ranked thirty - fifth … her eyes started and ended her career / she wouldn’t regret not running, but the toll it took on her life changed everything. her hands started to shake more out of anxiety that just pure energy. her heart raced constantly, the ability to be in crowds grew so much more difficult. she’d get paranoid from time to time / eyes stuck to one spot where it was safe. everything became infinitely more difficult. living became a chore / her face plastered on the news for a while over her leaving the pussycats ( by force ) and loss of her quirk.
tomoko had to take a break, had to live in the confines of her apartment that would begin to feel like a prison ; surrounded by reminders of ragdoll. that name meant nothing to her anymore. it was rare for her to answer knocks at her door, phone calls or texts that rang out. she just had to disappear for a second. just a little. she convinced herself people would forget ragdoll after the pussycats started up again / their names listed without her’s. it tore her in half.
perhaps it was best for her to get out / offer herself a distraction. so she’d try. tomoko got a request for a visit from jeanist. someone she didn’t talk to much, but was friendly with. they worked in the same industry as her ; of course she knew them. a bit reluctantly, she agreed and took her time to get there. her energy was drained, bags under her eyes hidden under a layer of make up. even if she felt awful, she didn’t want to look the part. she couldn’t bare to put on her former uniform / so she came just … as tomoko shiretoko. a civilian.
she’d grin, trying to not worry them with worn - down self / the moment they were alone, though … they could see right through her, she was sure. no one could be this okay after what had happened to her. her smile didn’t fault until they spoke word of ragdoll. perhaps a habit to refer to her as her hero name / a former life, she understood. it was the only title she was known as by the majority. but the tear in her heart only grew, eyes shifting suddenly away and tone falling an octave or two.
‘ ah … ’ any sign of weakness she could’ve read from herself sounded in her voice. hands found her forearms, gaze landing on the floor. her speech grew stiff, almost robotic while her brain focused on trying not to crack. ‘ no, she’s … ragdoll isn’t … anything … anymore. she’s something of the past … she’s going to stay that way, as ... upsetting as that is ... ’ ragdoll couldn’t exist without her quirk. she didn’t exist anymore / nothing of her existed. tomoko felt herself falling again, forcing tears that stung her eyes to stay put. she felt such a disconnect from the world she once knew, not knowing how to properly live without a quirk. it wasn’t until they started to speak again did she snap to attention.
you exist still.
then why did she feel so empty. ‘ i ... ’ she wasn’t ready to agree yet / she needed more time. golden hues locked onto their visible eye, brows giving hints that she wasn’t confident. her mouth hung open for a second, dryness and lack of stability catching words in her throat. ‘ i’m ... i don’t feel ... i - ... ’ a long pause in stiff silence, shoulders rising a bit with her discomfort / still attempting to hold her tears back. ‘ i’m nothing without ragdoll. i don’t know who i am when i’m not her ... my name’s tomoko, s - sure ... but i don’t know who that is. ’

im gonna try to sleep but i wanted to say shit about tomoko after the loss of her quirk : she gets super uncomfortable in crowded areas and kind of paranoid. she used to be able to keep track of every and anyone, know what their weak points was and where they were exactly. she never thought much of it because she was used to it ; it was her job and life to know that information. she could be at a bar and know how to deal with anyone who posed a threat, or walking down a crowded street and could stop a petty theft / pick pocket with ease. even if her attention span can be short, her memory wasn’t. and now she has nothing. she hadn’t really known anxiety or strong fear and all of a sudden, all of those things that could secure her and ensure she knew how to take someone down / tell someone else to take them down. do you know how terrifying it is to see a giant creature walking towards you and you see nothing about a weakness over their head. i’m emo over ragdoll and i need to quit that shit.
