Cancer Season is Upon Us!
đ޸đđ޸đđ޸đđ޸đđ޸đđ޸đđ޸đđ޸
During this time, our intuition, instincts, and emotions will be heightened⌠feelings are intense!
-
đ The summer solstice on June 21st marked the beginning of Cancer season.
âď¸ Even on the most sunny, bright of days⌠we could still find ourselves facing deep emotions.
đ Cancer is ruled by the moon⌠a planet of cycles, change, nurture, feelings, manifestation & release
âď¸ We maybe âfeeling everything at onceâ. Water sign seasons can bring overwhelming emotions & deep critical reflections.
đ Although emotions are running deep⌠we may find it easier to give & receive love during this time.
âď¸ Daily self-care routines can help us stay on track.
đ Protect your energy & whatâs important to you!

Listen to your inner voice, let yourself feel, and take care of you! đ
Ways to feel connected to nature in times of quarantine
đż spend as much in direct and indirect sunlight as you can
đż stay near your window and keep it open as much as possible, breath in the air from outside
đż watch nature documentaries and movies that show a lot of nature. If you have Netflix I strongly recommend Arietty (and all other studio ghibli movies)
đż drink a lot, always. Try some loose tea if you can - not only will the warmth be good for your mental health, the leaves will give your monkey brain a stronger sense of accomplishment
đż look at your houseplants, as weird as that sounds, and eat fresh
đż paint or stitch animals, flowers, beaches, whatever you need!
đż look around online for natural sounds! Birds singing, waves, leaves rustling
đż read physical books, believe me
đż change your scenery. Hang pictures of nature, paint or print them out, or hang some leavesÂ
đż meditate on nature and visualze the heck out of it. Try imagining moss growing on your walls and a stream running from your door to the windowÂ
đż take a shower imagingin rain or a bath imagining being in the oceanÂ
đż light some candles and look at the moving flames, esp in the evening

đĽ Room Healing Spell đĽ
A spell that can be cast at any moon phase or any time of the day to turn your room into a magick-inducive environment. The perfect spell for baby witches who want to start with spellwork. I created this when I was 12 (2006) and it has been 11 years since then and itâs still effective.
Recommended to Cast During: Any moon phase at any time of the day.
Colors: Black and White
Needed:Â
đż 2 Candles (either white or black)
đ An Athame (or any pointed object for engraving a candle)
đż A Wand (or any stick that is made from any natural material such as twigs, pencils, wooden chopsticks, selenite crystal, clear quartz wand)
To Cast:
đż Light one of the candles.
đ Start engraving a protection sigil or any symbolism that you dedicate with strength and protection on the unlit candle.
đż Twirl your wand around your engraved candle and say,
âGo away negativity and sway away. Positivity, if you wish to enter, you may.â
đż Light the engraved candle and carry it.
đ Bring the engraved candle with you and light the four corners of your room moving clockwise (start with north)
đż Meditate for 5 minutes after (chakra meditation is recommended or plain floor grounding is alright; that is to lie down completely on the floor)
What To Expect:
đż Your room will turn into a much more relaxing environment.
đ Negative energy that was collected through time will be diminished.
đż Better sleep, better naps, better magick.
đ Stronger magick especially for healing and love.
Australia needs your help... again
Hey everyone,
so iâm sure that youâve all heard about the tragic fires and drought that weâve suffered from over the past few months. well, our next few weeks (along the east coast) are forecasted with torrential rains and gale force winds which are toppling trees and crushing houses. many streets are flooded (you could swim through them!) and many houses (including my own) have started to leak.
as thankful as we are for the rain, we also need saftey for those who now donât have homes due to the fires. these complete extremes in weather are not uncommon for australia, but they are becoming worse after each season.
i ask for your thoughts, prayers, etc. to be with aussie families who need safety and comfort during these trying times.
god bless xx
update:
flood warnings have been issued and apparently these are going to be the worst floods since 1992. people are being evacuated from flood zones.
Active Witch Blogs!
Hi, everyone! Yes, this is another 'reblog if...' but this one comes with a twist. Whilst my own dashboard is definitely dry lately, it's also becoming increasingly obvious that the witchblr community in general is beginning to become less active. There are lots of reasons, of course, but rather than focus on the issue, I want to focus on a solution.
If you are an active witch blog, divination blog, religious blog, or anything in between that finds themselves here on witchblr, I have two things I want you to do!
1. Reblog This Post
Reblog this post and maybe say a little about yourself and your blog. But, also tag/mention blogs that you think are really wonderful and active! Again, I want this to branch out to many different kinds of bloggers. New witches, seasoned witches, brujas, european witches, root workers, hoodoo practitioners, you name it. This community is about diversity and personal pathways. It's time to big each other up.
My humble recommendations are: @thepastelpriestess @powerpriestess @shadow-of-wings @will-o-the-witch @nightshadeandroses @witches-ofcolor @ener-chi @luna-di-fuoco @mercury-minded @urbanspellcraft @upthewitchypunx @hermeticimp @divineclecticism @themagickcat @themanicnami @underworldpriestess @ancestralmedicinemagic @she-who-treads-on-water @shintowitchling and probably even more amazing practitioners I have forgotten. Each of these people are so knowledgeable and kind, and often give to our little online community here. I love reading/seeing their content and I know you will too.
2. Write About Your Craft
Not just this month, every month, but I do want to maybe try to encourage February to be a really good month for sharing and creation. It doesn't have to be a long post, it doesn't even have to have a theme. Just share. Tell people what you've been up to, or explain a personal revelation you've had. Ask for tips on a spell you're working on. One thing we've lost on witchblr is a sense of personal identities, probably after months of silly discourse making people shy away. But here's the thing... Witchcraft is personal.
If anyone more media savvy has any great ideas for this, please add on. All I can think is to share, and maybe ask some interesting questions to blogs you admire! I don't mean the usual stuff, but maybe ask 'What is something you always put into your spells?' or 'What's your personal take on how magic works?' - something which is interesting and allows us all to find our places again.
I am really interested in seeing what we all end up making or writing, so if you want to share some personal ideas, or find others wanting to create a more active witchblr again, we can use the tag #WakingWitchblr. Talk about your blog on it, write 'reblog if' posts to find likewise people, ask an interesting questions. Let's just... Be again, people!
Much love, stay blessed. â¨
so, someone decided to be a bit extra and handmake their book of shadows entirely from scratch...
update!
finished two books! one will contain spells and sigils and practical stuff, while the larger will contain research and personal info.
tea stained paper, and hand woven.
Just a rant... help is appreciated
I started getting into witchcraft about a year ago now, and I have always been a Christian. However, recently I have started to feel that I am somewhat losing my connection with that faith. Most of my church life, I struggled to make friends just because I didnât click with anyone, and so going to church was a chore and was the week's burden, and it still is to an extent. I have been getting work shifts on Sundayâs too which means I canât attend church, and I find that Iâm too busy to sit and study the bible like I used to. And I guess that âstraying from the pathâ is starting to scare me a bit.
From a young age, weâre taught that witchcraft is bad and that if you participate in it, youâll go to hell and be in eternal suffering. And, I donât know about anyone else, but that is so extreme and scary. And it makes me question so much about Christianity. It comes across to me that God is throwing a tantrum because you donât love him. Like, for me, witchcraft has helped me so much with my anxiety and stress, and even my short self-harming episode. I feel so connected with my spirit and soul and mind, and I feel that the universe just seems to nod with understanding when I ask it questions in my mind. Where-as, Christianity is so strict, and that stresses me out because if I do one thing wrong, Iâm going to hell forever. But witchcraft is so un-restricting and it allows you to connect with your inner self and energy and potential.
Another thing is that being a Christian and a witch is a sort of social suicide. Being a witch immediately rejects you from the Christian community and being a Christian is mostly frowned upon in the witch community. But, in my experience, Christians are so uptight and it always seems to be a competition about who is the most âfaithfulâ and the âbestâ Christian. They frown upon everything that isnât âholyâ and ârightâ and âGods willâ. But the witchcraft community is so full of love and mate-ship, and everyone helps each other and it's beautiful. I have met a few Christians who are willing to help, but so many that I have encountered are snobbish and uptight... and I hope Iâm wrong in saying that because I so want to believe that the Christian community is just as beautiful.
The whole âyou are going to hell if you stray from the right pathâ has sort of turned me away from Christianity to be frank. I guess I have just never truly experienced that overwhelming love that so many Christians do towards God. But Iâve found that love within myself, and I think Iâm alright with that.
Idk, itâs just super scary and worrying and all the âwhat ifsâ just keep circling in my mind.
If anyone has any thoughts or advice, Iâd love to hear it.
Also, Iâm sorry if this post has offended anyone, that really wasnât my intention. I am just confused and worried, so maybe your advice is also helpful for me to hear.
xx đ
Budget/Broom Closet Witch
As a relatively new witch, budgeting my craft and keeping it on the down-low is super important, and I thought I would share some tips and tricks I have come across that have helped me. A lot of these tips are central to colour and scents/fragrances, as I have found that these are the easiest ways to subtly practice your craft right in front of people without them being none the wiser.
Scented and coloured soaps This is a really good way to implement fragrances into your day-to-day life. Itâs super discreet and no one is going to question your lavender-scented soap. Some soaps are super low-budget friendly and also come in such a wide range of fragrances. This is a cool alternative for those who have asthma or are unable to burn incenses or candles.
does anyone know of any helpful witchy books that are a pdf? as a broom closet witch, having books on my shelf is going to raise some eyebrows.
all help is very much appreciated.
thanks x
Empath Protection
This is a masterpost with resources for empaths. First off, are you an empath*?
An empath is someone who deeply feels and connects to the emotions, feelings, and energies of other people. This can cause anxiety, depression, fatigue, exhaustion, headaches, stomach aches, and/or severe stress. There are varying degrees of empathy one can feel, and for some this gift/burden is heavier than for others. See also, 30 Common Traits of an Empath, More Information about Empaths. Signs which are most commonly empaths: Aquarius, Cancer, Pisces. Here is a resource of tips and tricks for the empath.
⌠Empath Bath Salts - Use this after being around peopleâs energies for too long and are needing to be cleansed of them. ⢠Empath Protection Sigil - Put on your person, a charm, in your grimoire, or on your clothing. ⌠Empath Protection Jar - Protect yourself from others negative energies. This is a preventative. ⢠Empath Bath Spell - This spell is for balancing your own energy and grounding yourself. ⌠Crystals for Empaths -  Put on your person, beside your bed, under your pillow, in rooms you frequent, or on your clothing. ⢠The Veil Method - How to block out other peopleâs emotions. ⌠Treatment for the âEmpath Hangoverâ - How to deal with things after ebing emotionally drained. ⢠Negative energy protection sigil -  Put on your person, a charm, in your grimoire, or on your clothing. ⌠âI Am Warded and Safe from External Feelingsâ Sigil -  Put on your person, a charm, in your grimoire, or on your clothing.
Misc. Tips for Empaths:
Wear silk; silk neutralises other peopleâs energies. Perform grounding and self love spells often. All yourself designated quiet time. Cleanse your space, aura, and chakras of negative energy often.
If you are am empath, you might be drained by...
1. Crowds
2. Unauthentic people; people with secret motivations, liars, manipulative people.
3. Feeling rushed
4. Loud noise
5. Being bombarded by more than one conversation at a time
6. Being used (People seemed to be especially attracted to empaths for this. Itâs obvious why.)
7. Arguing or fighting, even if theyâre not involved.
These are just a few of the lesser known examples I wanted to list; feel free to add anything. If you experience any of this, you may be an empath. Check the âempathsâ tag on my blog for information and tips⌠Practice self care.Â
How to cleanse your room of bad energy
- Open the window and let fresh air and sunlight flow through the room. Also keep the door open if you can.
- Since your bed is a huge part of the bedroom, strip your bedding and throw it in the wash.
- Quickly tidy up any clutter. This doesnât need to be a huge job. Just tackle the main things like dirty laundry and dirty dishes.
- Light an incense and walk around the room with it. Hold the incense for a while in each corner, behind furniture, and around any new items you have brought into your room that need to be cleansed.Â
- Fill a spray bottle with water, salt, and your favourite essential oil (I recommend lavender for the bedroom) and spray it around your room in any spots you still feel negative energy.Â
- An alternative to spraying salt water is you can sprinkle salt around your room and then vacuum it up.
- Still feel negative energy? Walk around your room and clap! This works wonders.
- Once your bedding is clean and dry, make your bed with it.Â
Youâre done! You will probably feel a lot better. You donât have to do all of these things at once. If you donât have much time or energy but need to cleanse, just try doing one of these things.

Anti-anxiety Herbs
A list of herbs that help reduce stress & anxiety & how to use them.Â
Chamomile: Top of the list because itâs my personal favourite. Chamomile is very calming, & also helps calm the nervous system, reducing physical & emotional tensions & helping to soothe, & calm the mind. Chamomile tea is very effective in relieving anxiety, & can also be used in combination with other herbs as an edible oil to take internally for an instant relief. The smell of Chamomile alone is very calming & for these reasons it can also be used in aromatherapy remedies as incense or facial mists.Â
Lavender: Lavender is also very soothing & has a slight sedative effect. Use Lavender alone, or in combination with other herbs to place inside a pillow to aid in a restful sleep. Lavender can also be drunk as a tea to provide relief from emotional tensions & anxieties, & aid in soothing the nervous system, relieving physical stress as well.Â
Green Tea: Helps by relieving heart rate, & blood pressure, & cleans & detoxifies the blood at the same time. Provides mental clarity & reduces anxiety whilst improving focus, preventing one from becoming lethargic. Note that green tea does contain small amounts of caffeine so it may not work for everyone in the same way.Â
Hops: Used in sleep pillows, & edible anti-anxiety oils & tinctures. Hops has mild sedative effects.
Valerian: Valerian is a strong sedative herb & can help promote a deep, restful sleep. It produces an unpleasant smell, so is usually taken as a supplement or tincture, but can also be used in combination with other fragrant herbs to drink as tea.Valerian has such strong sedative effects that it is advised only taking this herb in the evening, before bed. A good aid for insomniacs.Â
Lemon Balm: Lemon Balm has been used since the middle ages to help reduce stress & anxiety. It is useful in promoting both a calm, & more alert state of mind. Commonly taken as a tea, tincture, or capsule supplement.Â
Passionflower: Passionflower has mild sedative properties & helps soothe & calm the nervous system & relieve anxiety. It is also a great aid for insomnia.Â
Licorice Root: Helps by stimulating relaxing chemicals in the brain, it helps one in dealing with general stress. Soothes & calms the nervous system. Most commonly drunk in combination with other herbs as a tea, & used in sleep pillows.Â
Note: All of these herbs can be used in herbal sachets & other magickal charms to relieve stress & anxiety.Â
Remember these are only herbal suggestions, NOT prescribed medicine, if you are already on medication, ask your doctor if itâs ok to use some of these herbs internally as some come can react with medication. Do not take too many sedative supplements at once & consult your doctor before internal use of any herbal supplements if you are pregnant.Â
