Stand By Me - Lotor x Reader (One-Shot Request)
[A/N] thank you @lotr-fangirl for this request! I do have to admit that its a bit of angst and fluff, and a little short, so I do apologize. If you guys have any more requests for the characters that I have in my pinned post at the top of my page, go ahead and send an ask 🪐✨🌙
You would think a band of space pirates would know better than to go up against the most feared empire in the galaxy. It was even worse to forget that the most precious cargo of the Galran emperor was aboard the very ship they attacked. Lotor had a feeling, a horrible feeling, before letting you travel to this diplomatic meeting. To keep you from stressing out over the whole meeting, he decided not to tell you about how he felt, contributing his troubled mind to anxiety. He already hated that he had to send you offworld by yourself to keep the peace and give face without him, now he absolutely despises all of his being.
You, on the other hand, were very surprised you did not die. At the helm, you commanded your attackers to stand down, or to feel the full power that you had in your grip. They felt the need to test that. Shot in the multiple engines of your high tech ship, you had lost all power in your defenses. Panic ensued in the control room, with you the only level headed person in the room. You knew what you had to do.
The next interaction was a blur, with security footage showing your guards and fully trained soldiers putting up all they got against the pirates, a fight to the death between both parties. Scraped and bruised, you still fought through, refusing to die. It wasn’t until a showdown between you and the ring leader ensued, fiery flashes of blades trying to make contact with the other. A searing pain sliced into your arm, blood spilling profusely. But you carried on. You gave it all you got, gaining the upper hand and stabbing the leader straight in the throat. The feeling of his body going limp at the tip of your blade brought you a sadistic peace, relaxing yourself to rest now.
Fully awake in the med bay of a neighboring Galran ship, the need to immediately find Lotor became stronger the more you laid in your bed. The finest nurses and doctors in space were able to numb your arm, and relieve you of any pain you had in the moment. It was terrifying to go through this alone.
“My lady,” a handmaiden rushed by your side exclaimed, “His majesty has arrived.”
Not even a minute later did the blast doors open, the heavy footsteps of Lotor came rushing near you. Yanking the curtain aside, your eyes met Lotor’s, full of anguish and anger.
“Leave us.” He commanded, his voice a rumbling low.
The room did not hear him, but they fully understood as your handmaiden practically pranced out, leaving just you and Lotor. Closing the curtains, he instantly cradled you in his arms, careful of your wound. Rocking back and forth, Lotor kissed your forehead.
“When they told me that you were attacked, I only thought of the worse.” He said, pain overtaking his words. “I was beside myself, thinking you were slipping away from me.”
“I don’t give up so easily.” You whispered, smiling softly. You wanted to hold him back, to assure him that you were okay, but it was made impossible. Wincing as you tried to lift your arm, Lotor quickly placed his hand on your shoulder, pushing it back down onto the bed gently.
“Stop that, you need to rest.”
“Would it make you feel better to say I’m trying to hold you back?”
“It would make me feel better if you just rest, my love.”
You slumped back in your bed as Lotor brought a seat beside your bed, trying to get as close as possible. Taking your good limb and holding your hand, he let you rant and rave about what happened. And how you gave a good fight. The memories came flooding back, as well as the thrill and adrenaline.
“My stars, have you seen the footage?” You proclaimed, scoffing. “Who knew I had it in me?”
Chuckling, Lotor kissed your hand. “I did. I will admit, I wasn’t too thrilled about letting you go. In fact, I was close to throwing the entire mission out the window completely.”
“Why?” You questioned, doubt about your presentation rising.
“I was scared of you getting hurt, and I wasn’t there to save you. The very thing I feared the most happened, and I feel ashamed.”
You felt a tug at your heart. Despite moments of frustration and stress from the burden of the crown, the bottom line was that Lotor cared about you above everything else. Above his title and armies, all the enemies you had faced, and the ones to come. To be held on a pedestal for him, that’s all that matters. Because you had someone in your corner who will be there for you always.
“Don’t blame yourself, Lotor. I’m still here, aren’t I?” You replied, resting your head onto his chest, feeling his tension melt away at your words.
Lotor gave you a small smile, gathering your face in his massive hands before planting a kiss on your lips. “My brave, sweet queen.”
The next few hours consisted of Lotor dictating for your comfort, ordering for new pillows, pain meds, and food when you asked. You looked like you were laying on a bed of big fluffy clouds. The once throbbing pain in your arm went numb again as the pain meds did their job, urging you to fall asleep once more. As much as you wanted to stay awake for Lotor, your fluttering eyelids said otherwise.
“If you need to sleep, my love, please do.” Lotor pleaded before letting out a huge yawn.
That’s all you needed before your head hit the pillow underneath you, delightful snores filling the room immediately. Lotor wanted to laugh, but knew that wasn’t exactly appropriate and didn’t want to wake you. He sat back in his chair, watching as you slept in a deep slumber, before he succumbed to his tiredness as well.
Dreams were filled with happiness and joy, and when awakened, would take form in reality for as long as you and Lotor could live. There was nothing and no one who could ever take that from you both.
