madara is literally the most swagless and embarrassing teenager and despite the fact that hashirama gleefully owns him on a daily basis, he’s still the only person who thinks he’s cool. i absolutely love that

i think one of the things that makes madara so interesting is how we really have no information on his life outside of other people's retellings. hes this sort of legendary figure from history whose real thoughts or feelings can never really be known both to naruto and co. and to the readers... we can look at what other people have said about him but we'll only ever have second hand accounts of most of his history up until he's revived. we only know as much about madara as hashirama obito and ōnoki do like afaicr even when madara is speaking the cut ins are all from hashirama's retelling of events. hes framed in almost the same way as the tailed beasts were in the first half although of course the tailed beasts do eventually get to tell their stories. we really only know madara through other people's eyes which to be fair he only knows himself through someone else's eyes now too #ripizuna #eternalmangekyō4life
