Design Trends - Kitchen Island
Kitchen islands aren't a new trend, but they are popping up in almost every kitchen these days. Here are a few ways to keep your kitchen island a useful part of your daily life.
1. Storage. There is never enough storage. Include additional storage in your island with drawers, cabinets or decorative shelves.
2. Seating. Life happens and it's usually in the kitchen. Incorporating seating into the kitchen allows for additional eating space, or a place to chat, do home-work, etc.
3. Appliances. Its fairly common to see a cooktop in the island, but don't forget about the base of the island. It can be used for a wine fridge, microwave or built in freezer drawer. These are easy and friendly ways to make use of any extra space you have.
4. Prep Sink. Think of how often you use your sink. It's a nice-to-have option to use an additional sink in the middle of your space for veggie prep or hand washing.
TIP: Use a kitchen designer when laying out your kitchen. This ensures you have the best use of space.
