it's actually sad how tumblr killed fandom culture on their own website just like that. yeah, people can still post their gifs/art/fics, but making every reblog its own chain + essentially giving credit to rebloggers individually and making it nearly impossible to access comments/tags as the original poster entirely defeats the purpose of being a creator on here. and while i appreciate the posts already going around encouraging people to engage with op's posts directly rather than through a reblog, it's just going to be ignored like every post pleading with people to reblog and engage with content to begin with

Reblogs in a chain now get their own notes

The reblog chain is one of the things that makes Tumblr unlike anywhere else. All the notes on reblogs are attributed to the original post, no matter which branch people actually liked or reblogged. We want to keep encouraging conversations, and give contributors the recognition they deserve. 

Soon, you'll be able to like, reblog, or reply to any part of a reblog chain, and that note will go to that reblog's author. Each reblog will have its own counts, instead of one aggregated number from every version of the post. And yes, you’ll be able to like multiple posts in one chain.

If a reblog doesn't add anything, the love flows up to the last person in the chain who did. Your post doesn't lose notes just because people spread it quietly.

Past notes will stay on the original post — we're only changing what happens from here on out. Retroactively re-attributing all of them would be... a lot.

This is just the beginning. More changes are coming as we keep building this out – stay tuned!

This honestly is so true. As a mother myself, I don't understand why using technology as a babysitter is normalised. It really is neglect and I hate how often it gets blamed on the children when the adults are actually to blame for the increased bad behaviour and delayed development. If you decide to have a child, you've got to be ready to actually put in the time and effort children require (which is 24/7). It's completely selfish in itself to have a kid, and even more selfish to neglect them in such a way. There's so many ways you can entertain a child, no matter what these parents say.

Some examples of what me and my son do on a regular basis are: go on walks, do picnics (inside and outside), make jigsaws, build lego, play boardgames, read comics, watch films, give each other makeovers, create battles with lego or other figures, we have lightsaber battles and we do so much more. Yes, some of them cost money, but most are an investment or really low cost/free.

I know there's exceptions to this but in general it's so unfair on the children.

My son does have his own ipad, I will admit, but we have clear boundaries in place. He has 3 hours a day and I can count on one hand the times he's had a meltdown over his time being up (this is linked with him having a particularly overwhelming day).

This is such a non-problem, but my son has recently stopped watching cbeebies bedtime stories and like wtf. Now I haven't got an excuse to watch hot dilfs read stories. Smh
