The interior of the Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Assumption. A giant, modern chandelier is casting this halo. An unusual religious building for sure -- the exterior is bulky, but step in if you walk by. Prescriptions of the historic church council allowed the Archdiocese of San Francisco to plan boldly in the building of its new cathedral. It was designed by local architects John Michael Lee, Paul A. Ryan and Angus McSweeney, collaborating with internationally known architects Pier Luigi Nervi and Pietro Belluschi. Its saddle roof is composed of eight segments of hyperbolic paraboloids. Measuring 255 feet (77.7 m) square, the cathedral soars to 190 feet (57.9 m) high and is crowned with a 55 feet (16.7 m) golden cross. Due to its resemblance to a large washing machine agitator, the cathedral has been nicknamed "Our Lady of Maytag" (Wiki). (at Saint Mary's Cathedral)

The Exploratorium, a museum in San Francisco founded by physicist Frank Oppenheimer in 1969. It has been described by the New York Times as the most important science museum to have opened since the mid-20th century, an achievement attributed to "the nature of its exhibits, its wide-ranging influence and its sophisticated teacher training program". It was characterized as "a mad scientist's penny arcade [...] the prototype for participatory museums around the world" (Wiki). There are about 600 experiments in a few different categories; my personal fav being the giant concave mirror. A word of warning though: this is a popular place, you might want to stay clear if you are easily aggravated by children. We arrived near the end of the sunset at #goldengatebridge — still a spectacular sight. My 2 cents as a noob though, don't bother with a bus to Vista Point, you'll be "stuck" on that side. Take a Über straight to Battery Center on the "better" side of the road, up the hill. Walk a bit from there for a clear view of the bridge, the city behind it, and the open ocean to your right. Wear warm clothes. Don't push your sister off the cliff for inheritance money. (at Golden Gate Bridge North Vista Point)
