His Birthday
I’m amazing at thinking of a title, can’t you tell?? Anyways its still June 5th here in the States meaning it’s still Draco’s bday!! Enjoy this oneshot, there’s fluff at the end I promise

Draco kicked a stone along the cobble as he walked down the street in Hogsmeade, his hands shoved into the pockets of his pants. It had been a hot day so like most other students, Draco had chosen to ditch his robe. He was having probably the crappiest birthday yet. It being the first week of June, he had spent the day taking three of his exams, and would have more tomorrow and the day after. Greg and Vince had annoyed to him to the point of him sending them back to the castle. And Pansy had tried to comfort him but ended up annoying him as well, so he had ignored her until she took the hint and left.
He might’ve been in a better mood if his father hadn’t just been shipped off to Azkaban for being caught at the Ministry with the Dark Lord. And if his mother hadn’t shut herself up in the Manor, refusing to talk to anyone, including her own son. He still had a couple hours until he had to go back to the castle, so he chose to walk to the typically empty clearing of woods that sat a little ways from the Shrieking Shack.
Rounding the corner, he stepped into the clearing to find none other than Potter, sitting on a tree stump with his back turned to Draco. His head was bent over, as though staring a hole into the ground.
Great, what a lovely birthday surprise! Draco thought sarcastically in his head, and couldn’t resist the chuckle that escaped when he imagined the phrase being said in a high-pitched and shrill voice. Potter’s head snapped up abruptly at the sound and turned his head towards Draco.
His face was red, which might have been for the heat, had Draco not heard him sniffle and if his eyes were not red. Potter turned his body to face him and it was then that Draco noticed that his glasses weren’t on, but clenched in his fist.
“What the hell are you laughing at, Malfoy?” Potter snarled, and Draco was slightly surprised by how his voice didn’t crack when speaking.
“Just the thought of you being my birthday present, Potter,” Draco said, smirking. Potter’s eyebrows raised before his expression returned to a glare.
“Just fuck off, Malfoy. I don’t need this right now,” Potter spoke low, voice unwavering. Draco rolled his eyes, there was no way in hell that Potter had it worse than him now. His side had won the fight at the Ministry, Potter would most likely be being praised by a cluster of Weasley children and half of the faculty were he back at the castle.
“Don’t need what exactly, Potter? What do you have to cry over?” Draco snarled and immediately regretted his words when Potter’s face crumpled and more tears welled in his eyes.
“Just- fuck off, Malfoy!” Potter said through gritted teeth, tears streaming down his face and joining at his chin before dripping to the ground below. It was in that horrible moment that Draco remembered his Aunt Bella, who, had hid in the Manor with them just after the events at the Ministry, and had bragged over the death of her “dear cousin”. The same cousin who was burned off the tapestry after leaving to go to the Potters. Oh fuck. Draco thought as Potter turned his head and seemed to let out a stream of uncontrollable sobs.
Draco’s eyes widened and he didn’t know what to do with himself. He hesitantly walked forward, and placed his hand on Potter’s shoulder. Potter flinched and immediately tried to jostle his arm to push Draco off, but Draco kept his hand there.
“I’m sorry about what happened,” Draco whispered, and squeezed Potter’s shoulder once before leaving.

23 years later…
Harry turned his head and gazed down fondly at his sleeping husband, who was cuddled into his side, head rested on Harry’s shoulder where they were sitting together on their couch. Harry had an arm wrapped around his waist, and lifted his opposite one to stroke Draco’s hair lightly. Draco sighed contently in his sleep and turned his nose into Harry’s neck.
“Happy birthday, love,” he whispered softly into Draco’s hair as he turned his head and kissed the top of his head. Harry remembered back then, in 5th year, when he had been found by Draco of all people when crying over the death of his godfather. And the strange feel of having Draco’s hand rested on his shoulder before he was left alone. He remembered nearly a year later, how he had placed his own hand on Draco’s shoulder when finding him in the bathroom. And he remembered the first kiss they had shared when Harry returned Draco’s wand on his birthday, a little over a month after the final battle.
Draco’s slow breathing shifted and startled Harry from his thoughts as he began to wake up.
“Harry?” He murmured, eyes half-lidded and several strands of hair falling into his face.
“Go back to sleep love, it’s been a long day,” Harry whispered, kissing Draco’s forehead. He pulled Draco’s sleepy form back into his arms and onto his chest so that Draco was half on top of him.
It had been a long day. They had spent it at both the Weasley’s and then at Narcissa and Andromeda’s to see both the women and Teddy, not to mention the picnic Harry had taken him on earlier in the day by the ocean. Draco mumbled something incoherent before closing his eyes and resting his head over Harry’s heartbeat.
“Love you…” Draco murmured sleepily, before drifting off to sleep.
“I love you too, Draco,” Harry whispered before closing his eyes as well.

My favorite Shady/Illegal tips
*If you don’t have a stamp, reverse your destination and return addresses. The post office will deliver it to the return address for free
*One bag of garbage from a McDonald’s dumpster has hundreds of receipts in it, each of which has a survey. Submit each one for lots of free food
*Holding a cell phone to your ear justifies loitering. This aids in public urination, dumpster diving, stalking, trespassing, etc
*If you’re going to plagiarize, plagiarize something in a foreign language. Use a translator and spend a few minutes touching up the results.
*If they have free refills, save your cup. Next time you eat there, your drink is free.
*A plastic coffee stir stick can fool any push in coin acceptor that loads the coins on edge. Just insert stir stick, push the mechanism forward until you feel the stick hit a bump, push the bump down with the stick and push the mech all the way in
*If you look like you know what you’re doing, no one will bother you.
*When lying, always include something slightly embarrassing, or something that makes you look bad, as part of your story. It’s not only going to disarm their skepticism (admitting to something embarrassing gives an impression of humility), but even if they remain skeptical, they’ll be left wondering why you would make something up that you’d rather keep secret if it were true
*Using Clorox or any bleach will turn the red/pink liquid detection dot on electronic devices back to white so they replace them under warranty
* “A drug dealer in DC taught me to pick my nose if the police are staring at me. No one picks their nose if they think someone is watching them, so it’s the ultimate way of being nonchalant.”
* "I learned that you can get into almost any special event by wearing a chef coat. Even just carrying one and walking like you know where you’re going will work every time. Most people don’t want to look stupid by asking you who you are.“
* "My go to missing work call was never “I’m sick”, it was “Family problems”. They never questioned it, it’s vague enough and embarrassing enough that nobody ever asks.“
*As part of the employee training at Target, they teach you that if a customer argues over a price, and the full price is under $20, to just give it to them for whatever price they claim. It’s cheaper for the company to move on to the next customer than to call in a price check.
*Put a rolled up sock in the change slot on a vending machine, come back back 4 days later….and pull sock….you will be 6-ish dollars richer.
*If it’s a small lie, like who farted or who put the empty milk carton in the fridge, I’ll tell a terrible lie. I’ll not be able to hold a straight face, contradict myself, basically suck at lying. Now everyone I know thinks I can’t tell a lie to save my life. So when I really need a big lie, I nail it every time. No one ever suspects me when I lie straight faced.
*Bring crutches to an airport. Bypass every line (including boarding) and you are chauffeured to your gate the second you pass through security.
*Make up a secret to share with someone- they may open up and share far more valuable real secrets.
*Here’s a classic. Drive over to your 7/11 of choice. Fill up a Slurpee and drop some candy bars in that bitch. Make sure the candy bars aren’t showing. Cover the Slurpee and pay for it. Free Snickers bitch.
*I tell everyone i’ve never done any drugs. Suddenly everyone offers me cocaine, ecstasy, pot, lsd. I think i’ve had $200 worth of drugs each weekend for free.Same with liquor. “Im not drinking tonight” BOOM! Everyone gives me booze. Its like everyone wants to break your integrity as soon as you tell them you are not doing whatever they are doing.
*If you need to cash from an ATM and its not a large amount, buy a 5 cent piece of gum from a gas station that has the cash back option. Its cheaper than a $3 charge
*Act less intelligent than you really are. Acting stupid can get you out of some tricky situations. Feigning ignorance is way better than admitting you knew better but did it anyway. My old man used to say ‘It is easier to beg forgiveness than ask for permission’…sometimes it’s true.
*Every time I fly, when I land I’ll pen a little complaint to the airline that flew me. You know, I’ll come up with something like “oh, they denied me a drink! Oh, the food wasn’t vegetarian!” Whatever miscellaneous hogwash potpourri comes to my crazy brain. And like clockwork, within a business day, they’re reimbursing me with a $50 voucher, a $100 voucher, I can sell that on the secondary market.
*I’ve always had a lot of success in shutting nosy people up by blaming any personal issue on allergies. Crying from a panic attack? Allergies giving me puffy eyes. What’s that mysterious pill I’m taking? Allergy meds. Why am I acting spaced out/hungover/tired? Allergies meds making me drowsy.
*If you really wanna get away with some shit, buy a reflective vest, a white hard hat, and a clipboard. You can go ANYWHERE.
