No, it would have to be something like a tiny spider from the 15th century named Richard, who ends up living on a bookshelf in the TARDIS console room. They’d wander in one day when the TARDIS lands in medieval England, and the Doctor wouldn’t notice until they’re already several centuries and galaxies away. By then, Richard would’ve built a little webby home between two dusty instruction manuals, and the Doctor would feel too bad to evict them. So they’d just… live there now. Full member of the crew.
Maybe sometimes Richard chills in the Doctor’s coat pocket, or perches on the brim of their hat like a weird, gothic accessory. The Doctor has full-on conversations with them—quiet, casual, and completely sincere. No one ever knows if they’re joking.

The Beast Below is one of my all-time favorite Doctor Who episodes—not just because of the plot or the visuals, but the entire story is set in motion by something so small, so human: the Doctor sees a child crying.
That’s it. No grand threat, no mysterious signal, no imminent apocalypse—just a child in distress. And he can’t walk past it. He physically can’t not investigate, because that’s who he is. Even when the universe is vast and loud and full of monsters, he stops for a crying child.
Also not even five minutes before that, he told Amy with a completely straight face, “I never interfere in the affairs of other peoples or planets.” And I find the sheer absurdity of that line hilarious.
