My blackboard app does not function on my phone so I had to take photos like this LOL
My PA: This news paper is arranged much different than papers today. It is much more dense and there seems to be much more information on this paper than any paper I’ve seen as of recent times. I bet that is because this was the main form of news telling. As opposed to today’s day and age of everyone having the latest news at their fingertips on their smart phones. This is much different than reading a book or anything else of the sort because of the dense ness of this. There is so much information to sort through and navigate it can become tiring.
Poe’s “Murders in the Rue Morgue could easily be indebted and connected to these types of writings and periodical formats because there are similarities in the way they are written in regards to the dense ness. Poe makes it a point to find meaning in periodicals in a unique way, having a man find the true details of some gruesome murder by reading the periodicals with a very analytical lie. His story asks that you pay attention and recognize small details.
The Balloon Hoax:
First of all I find it very ironic that “The Balloon Hoax” was printed in newspapers because it was initially ran as a “true story” but was found to be false and pulled from the news paper days later. This is a very accurate metaphor for newly emerging mass publication in the U.S. Nowadays a news agency will run essentially any story they hear. Unfortunately many of the times these stories they break are untruthful. This is just the case in “The Balloon Hoax”. The writing style of it is very reminiscent of today’s day and age as well. The all capital typing and appearance of it is used to draw the reader in, only to have the information turn out to be false.

(I was having technical difficulties Friday and could not log onto zoom therefore I don’t have a picture of my notes I’m sorry!)
A.) This image shows a person ripping the heart out of another person. There seem to be corpses underneath the first person in the art. There is also fires and smoke clouds in the background, and what seems to be a lion.
B.) This picture assumes a level of historical knowledge of its audience. It assumes that the audience would know what time period this art is from based on clothing in the art and it seems I would know what to do with symbols such as the sword and flag being carried and I do not.
C.) This image does not show a happy ending. It excludes any possibility for the audience to perceive it as anything other than something violent and war filled. It’s focus of this violence perhaps distracts the audience from the true message, in which I’m honestly not sure about.
D.) I believe based on what I have gathered, written, and digested this image is showing the grim reality of war or a battle. These corpses I believe help consolidate this belief and the grim aspect of the fire and smoke clouds in the background. It creates a sense of chaos the I believe the artist wanted to the audience to feel and the art portrays that feeling well.
Shelley’s poem “England in 1819” helped me personally draw many connections between it and Cruikshank’s art piece. The poem is riddled with imagery about people being stabbed, and grim scenes such as people starving. I had said that Cruikshank wanted to create a feeling of chaos within his audience and a feeling a of a war of battle and based on this poem I feel I was on the right track in doing so.
I believe these both are connected to my conclusions about “Ozymandias” in the way that that poem as well discusses very solemn and grim things in its content. There is discussion of “lifeless things” and them “being mocked.” These lines specifically remind me of Cruikshank’s piece because of the lifeless corpses and the lion seemingly staring at them, “mocking them.”

Part 3:
An unfortunate aspect of Pinterest is that one cannot search exact quotes from poems. This is unfortunately because it’s harder to gain an analysis of many lines of poetry using this tool. There is no notable bias on the app which is good and I’m unsure of a mechanism that could be used to detect it.
I used Edgar Allen Poe in my case here but this is a very cool search on Pinterest for any author. Many different quotes become available to look at and interpret. It helps one get a sense of a specific authors writing style and could be a helpful tool while writing essays that require quotations.
Pinterest is one of the most unique and innovative new tools to share and find information. It is an image sharing social media service that is on the internet and available as a phone app. It uses what the company calls a “pinboard” for the user to be able to “pin” or save images, GIFs, and videos. Essentially one can look up quite literally anything on Pinterest and become connected with endless different ideas and information. I personally use it daily often for various different reasons. For example, whenever I want a new tattoo I will log on my Pinterest and search away until I find something I like.

Take A Breath and Relax.
A very unique and interesting collection of items. Some of which hold sentimental value, and some of which pertain to more personal usage daily. The few other items that don’t pertain to those aforementioned are a bit nostalgic and give true meaning to the word “wonder.” #Family #Nostalgic #Comfort #Relax
Day 9: My nail clippers. I was clipping my nails today and I began thinking about this little invention. Absolutely necessary in my life but I wonder if whoever invented these thought they would be so essential. It reminds me that no matter how little you may feel or how little something is you have a much bigger impact than what you may think.
Day 8: My smart water cap. I get a smart water every time I’m at a convenience store and have ever since I was younger. I’m not sure how to explain it much better but I just feel like a better version of myself drinking this water. Lol.
Day seven: A hot Cheeto. I know this seems a bit strange but hear me out. Whenever I am having a bad day I like to eat one of these, just one. I do not like spicy things and winning this battle of eating this sometimes changes my whole day around believe it or not.
Day 6: This is a string to one of my many masks I have that broke today. It just simply reminds me of this crazy reality we are living in. My kids aren’t born yet and therefore don’t know it yet, but this will be history someday! Lol
Day 5, my headphones. I never leave my house without these, and in a strange way don’t feel like myself if I don’t have them.
Day 4 my lucky dice. Every new roll is a new opportunity and fresh start.
