SEGAZINE is a black & white zine about the SEGAverse, curated by Ashley Davis, Corey Lewis, Ted Martens and Paul Veer. It's about characters and games from a magical time when SEGA still stood for hip and fresh games. A kind of attitude sorely missing in today's games industry.
Celebrate these times with us! Show us what the SEGAverse means to you. Has it inspired you in any way? Changed you as a person? Do you have any good stories related to SEGA to tell us? Or do you just like drawing SEGA things? It's all good! We'd love to see it!
Submissions are open until November 30th (2012), so get to it! We will be accepting anything as long as it can exist on paper. That means drawings, 3D renders, photos, written stories, comics, poetry. Anything you can think of.
Though we are taking all submissions, we won't be able to put them all into the zine. We will choose a specific number of entries to go into the actual phsyical zine. This number depends on how many submissions we get. After we print the zine, the remaining entries will be posted daily on this tumblr page (artist name, site and twitter included), so everyone will get a chance to be seen!
If you're looking to submit something, here are the rules:
You can pick any game, series or console from SEGA's legacy, as long as SEGA has developed said game or it is very closely related to a SEGA console (like Gunstar Heroes, for example). Crossovers of franchises are totally allowed!
The zine will be black and white printed, so make your submission black and white print friendly!
Images have to be 12x12 centimeter at 300dpi. If you want to do a spread, you are allowed to use 12x24 centimeter. In both cases, add a 3mm bleed to the edges of your image.
For comic submissions, you will be allowed a maximum of four 12x12 centimeter images.
Let's keep it clean, people. Some violence is okay (as SEGA's games were kind of edgy and in your face), but let's not go overboard. No excessive blood or gore, and nothing suggestive, please.
Please take your submissions serious. We love stuff like Dumb Running Sonic, but this is not the place for that. We want to see some proper SEGA love!
Submission does not guarantee inclusion. We will pick the best submissions for the physical zine. The rest will be posted on this tumblr page.
You can e-mail your submissions to [email protected]. Please include your name, the name of your piece and any other information you want us to display with your entry on the site (twitter or website url, for example).
Please send us download links instead of attachments, as files at 300dpi can get quite huge.
