THE AIR SMELT OF DUST AND OF ruin. he had wondered through the building, as he usually did when he knew his past lover wasn’t home. he enjoyed taking in the smell. enjoyed looking through his things, learning about what his troubles were and how he could secretly do things to fix them. anything and everything that the now late holy roman empire could do to help maintain the other country’s happiness. though it might be somewhat odd and somewhat creepy, the empire had nor saw any reason to be ill of mind. he was doing it all for good reason.
AND YET SOMETHING WAS DRAWING him deeper. there was this room he found. he sat there for a while, staring anxiously at the door. there was a sort of lingering presence behind there. and strangely enough, the young child felt as if he was there. that when he would open that door, he would meet himself standing behind it. it was so perplexing – fingers would reach forward, much like the hungry slaves, begging ever-so-lively for food. holy rome was practically drooling.
IT WASN’T LOCKED, MUCH TO THE young empire’s surprise. part of him hoped it would have been. yet sinning was his forte after all, he learned, through the constant ruinous wasteland he put himself through. and god was most likely already enraged with his choice of lovers – why not go a little deeper? silently begging god for any ounce of forgiveness, little wrists flicked onto the doorknob. holy rome had to jump to reach.
THE SMELL OF THE DUST HIT HIM AS soon as the door had opened. and yet through it all, there was only one thing holy rome could notice. one thing that caught his eye. one thing, that seemed to shine brighter than any other object that laid, wasted, rotten, and dusted, in that room. as if a stagelight had flashed its bright light of attention. the empire was looking at the pushbroom he had received oh so long ago.
“ WHAT’S THIS? “ WERE HIS FIRST WORDS, “ could it be the same broom i got from her – him! …before? “ only one way to find out. ignoring the world around him, black boots clutter against wood. dust flew up in his steps – this place hadn’t been touched in ages. though he would have normally taken a peep or two around, he couldn’t. the call from the broom was much too powerful. when he reached it, he was scared. a lost puppy without a leash and sniffing for a master. yet he fought his fears and picked it up with a slow grab.
“ I-IT IS! THERE’S NO OTHER PUSHBROOM that feels like this! “ the empire exclaimed, hugging the broom. “ it’s-a italy’s old one. the one he gave to me! ”
the sound of the t.v filled the living room. italy's home was quaint, she supposed. more often than not, the two were stationed in HER dwellings rather than his, but -- she wasn't exactly complaining. enjoying some sort of cold, italian beer ( GROSS ) that the man had purchased for her as an almost WELCOMING gift, that was when italy suddenly jumped up, almost like a madman and raced out of his front door, seemingly grabbing the car keys in one fluent motion. apparently, in his incoherent, crazy speech that switched between their common, understood english and italian, he had mentioned something about "FORGETTING" and "PASTA," along with "STORE." the slamming of the door made monika idly glance in its direction. odd.
now, she could finally get some cleaning done.
the italian’s place was .. FINE. she guessed. taking a final swig of the beer, the german stood and removed her green, denim jacket from her muscular arms. there was a glance around given. though, sadly, it was NOWHERE near the pristine, clean state her own home was. selfishness suddenly built in her core as those pure eyes took a gander down a familiar hallway.
she had one of her own, sure, but most of it was filled with prussia's things. for one, monika hadn't been alive long enough to simply dedicate a room to trinkets and FOOLISH items that had "sentimental value." secondly, she just wasn't a materialistic person. that selfish desire made monika uncomfortable almost. surely .. the excuse that she was cleaning would be as good as any if he returned quickly than she expected. pah, how CHILDISH is she? .. very.
gathering his cleaning supplies from the closest, cautionary steps were taken as she slowly walked down the corridor. what awaited in that room? women underwear? that's what her brother had whenever she would SIFT through the "memories" pile. what if she found his diary? what would happen? would he perhaps speak of how his german friend was his best friend? would he speak terrible things of her? the thought made her heart damn near burst.
" .. -- !!! " the .. door was open? immediately bursting in, the sight of dust clawed away at her VISIBILITY for just a moment before it all became visible. " -- hey! " her commanding voice rung out in the dull room as she took in the sight of the little. wait .. she knew this "little boy." her expression was contorted in confusion for just a moment before there was an awkward change in her demeanor. why in the hell was he hugging a broom? god, what was this boy's NAME? she couldn't even remember. stepping forward, her hand immediately reached for the top of the push broom in an attempt to pull the handle away. " weren't you taught not to touch other people's things? i am certain italy would not like you touching his personal items. "
