Have been meaning for decades to learn to sew so I bought a #sewing travel kit to get me started on handsewing before I tackle machine sewing (my wife has a machine). Already darned some socks which is something I haven't done in over ten years. This time I turned my attention to the ever ready leather case of my #yashica635 camera, as the stitching on the leather was breaking away down one side. I decided to follow the principles of #kintsugi by making the repair conspicuous and eye-catching. I used lavendar thread however the colour wasn't bright enough and the thread wasn't really thick enough to make for a conspicuous repair. Oh well, kintsugi was a bit of a hipster buzzword in 2015-16 after all so maybe it is for the best. At least the repair seems strong. Next time I will buy thicker thread. (at Hughesdale, Victoria)

Found a set of faded #ilford negatives in my dad's photo album. Although we already have prints of these I decided to scan them. They are of my uncle Larry's bar mitzvah in 1956 in Leeds, UK. In the centre are my dad's parents, who died before he even met my mother. My grandfather was called Barnett (בָּרוּךְ Baruch) which is my middle name. My grandmother was called Lotte (short for Charlotte, which is my sisters middle name). As you can see she was quite the looker. I have I huge task ahead of me which is to try and scan my fathers family photo album, dating 1960s and earlier, before he completely loses his eyesight. That way we can document as best as possible who the photos are of. Already some prints are too small of faded for him to tell who is in them, and I have to guess by comparing the faces to photos of known people he has identified.

I shot this #moon video on my #d3200 and #telescope using a camera to eyepiece adaptor a few years ago and just rediscovered it today. For fun I decided to inserr into the audio a Percy Bysshe #shelley #poem excerpt being read by the late great #vincentprice. I really love his poetry recitation style. The poem is With a Guitar, To Jane. The poem was dedicated to the to a married woman called Jane Williams whom Shelley was friends with, and, it is assumed, was enamored with. Shelley and his own wife Mary Shelley (author of #frankenstein) were friends with Jane and her husband and they lived near each other in Lerici, Italy. Tragically both women were widowed when both men died in a boating accident on a return journey from Pisa to Lerici. #lunar #poetry. (at Carnegie)
