is this a safe space to say i prefer Yarra over Drakka

HFW spoilers for "Gate of the Vanquished" and "Burden of Command" quests (and hogwarts legacy) below

I did side with Drakka on my first play-through of HFW but regretted it when he killed her after. And when I played again I sided with her and much preferred it.

No doubt he's charismatic, and I guess that's why he has so many fans & simps but when I played through his quests again his manner just felt slimy and kinda manipulative (reminds me of Sebastian in hogwarts legacy actually)

YARRA FOREVERRRRRR best commander

my absolute GOAT!!!!!!!!!! ougghh she is easily THEE most underrated HFW character. i wanna put her in a glass jar and shake it so fucking hard.

can i use your ask as an excuse to rattle off my yarra backstory headcanon??? Sole Survivor Shepard, but make it Horizon--years prior she was the only member of her squad to survive a Slitherfang ambush, setting off her climb toward the rank of commander and also informing her rigid attitude and control issues in protection of her clan as a whole. Absolute load of survivor's guilt and trauma on that one.

Drakka and Yarra

I didn't like this quest line. It feels strangely leveled for when you get it, and the ending is not only unsatisfying, but feels like it railroads Aloy into a decision she would never make.

Firstly, this quest line begins with fighting a pair of Ravagers, followed by a Thunderjaw, and you likely find it as the first side quest upon entering the West. It concludes (with an extra side quest in Scalding Spear, to be fair) with fighting a Thunderjaw and a Stormbird together (kind of). The difficulty is fair, but really shouldn't be available before seeing Hekarro. Maybe this is a quirk of Ultra Hard, but the starting level of 17 is not high enough. At least the ending is marked as level 30.

In terms of story, Aloy doesn't get enough time with Drakka or especially Yarra to ever side with either, in my opinion. She has no information outside of hearsay from either one. Is Drakka ambitious? Sure, but I don't see him make enough mistakes from that to see that that's all he cares about. Is Yarra lying to her people, I guess, but for very good reason. It's not that neither is a good option, that can be interesting, its that I, as the player, am never given enough information to make a choice that feels worth killing over.

I'm gonna be real I mainly chose Yarra for lesbian reasons but also she seems very obviously the right choice. She seems far more regretful of killing than Drakka, who seems almost excited to kill you when you side against him. And she seems to care about the clan way more
