I Miss the Way You Say "Good Morning"
Summary: Nate's in college and Blaine is still finishing his senior year of high school ): ): ): There's probably typos and everything in here because I'm awful at catching my own mistakes when I write but ANYWAY here you go, Denise angel, I loev u.
It's late in the fall semester, almost time for Christmas break (thank God) and Blaine has decided that he absolutely hates Nate being in college.
It was easier during the summer of Blaine's junior year when they first got back together, and then later, during that Christmas break. It was so much easier, because the distance was substantial enough, with Blaine in D.C. and Nate in Tennessee, that Blaine never thought of how easy it would be to take a train to see Nate early, early in the morning, have Nate's roommate let him in and then curl up in Nate's bed, waking Nate up with warm kisses pressed to Nate's neck and cold toes running up Nate's calf, and a "good morning, baby, I got bagels on the cab ride over" falling from his lips before Nate can begin to complain about Blaine missing his own classes to be there. Blaine didn't have the chance to think about that back then because they were so far apart that it was impossible, stupid even to waste time thinking about it but now…
Now, he thinks about it all the time, thinks about train rides and surprising Nate with lunch in the middle of the day, in-between Nate's life-drawing and art appreciation classes (life-drawing ends at twelve and art appreciation starts around 12:30 and Nate never really has time to eat because he usually takes that time to chat on the phone with Blaine during Blaine's own lunch break, while Nate rushes all the way across campus with his portfolio heavy on his arm and his phone pushed between his shoulder and ear while he tries to wolf down a bag of chips so he isn't absolutely starving by the time he finally gets out of classes for good because as soon as art appreciation lets out at 2:00, Nate has English two buildings over and no time to call Blaine in-between, so they forget what they were discussing before and they don't have a chance to talk again until six because Blaine somehow got saddled with tutoring two werewolves and the tutoring sessions are only supposed to last an hour but they are new – freshly bitten by some fool a month ago – and they're idiots, so tutoring always runs from 4 to 6, and by that time, Nate has been out of class for three hours and has sent 30 text messages telling Blaine how much he loves him and that he's being so good helping those two and how he'll see Blaine at 8 for their Skype-dinner date and then around 7:45, as Blaine's finally settling down with his laptop on his desk and his bowl of Spaghetti-O's heating in the microwave, he checks his phone and sees a missed call from Nate around 7:30 – which is when Blaine was washing the gel out of his hair because they're supposed to be on a date and Nate likes it without the gel on dates – with a voice-mail saying how he can't make dinner because he's going out with "the guys" and Blaine closes his laptop, shuts off his phone – because he doesn't want to talk to anyone now, and besides, when Nate goes out with "the guys" he doesn't call back until he's on his way to class the following morning – and eats his Spaghetti-O's in silence before crawling into bed in Nate's old shirt and curling up with Sir Thomas).
Some weekends though, like this one, and some weekdays too, Blaine is able to make it. He's able to take the train, stop by Panera for bagels before catching a cab to Nate's campus. He's able to climb the fence and walk to Nate's dorm, posing as a student because it's far too early for campus to be open to everyone. He knocks on the door, lightly – it's early and he technically isn't supposed to be there. Nate's a freshman after all and freshmen don't get visitation privileges – and Nate's roommate, who is understanding and luckily, is a morning person, lets Blaine in with a smile before slipping out for an early morning "jog" that lasts until Blaine or Nate texts him with "okay we have clothes on now, come have breakfast with us." Blaine strips down to nothing but his underwear, pausing for a second, shivering as the cool air hits his skin after he's been bundled up so long, before deciding to lose his boxer briefs as well, sliding them off and sitting them on top of the rest of his clothes that are folded up on Nate's desk chair. Nate's a lump in the middle of his bed, the blankets pulled up over his ears so that Blaine can only see the smallest bit of tousled blond hair peeking out from underneath. Blaine smiles then and pads over, lifting two blankets and a sheet to slip in beside Nate, wiggling close behind him and tangling their legs together, his cold toes bumping against Nate's calves. Nate shivers a bit and Blaine moves closer, wrapping his arm around Nate's waist and pulling Nate close. He doesn't say anything for a bit, just listens to the sound of Nate's breathing as Nate tumbles into wakefulness. After a few minutes, Nate turns in his arms and faces him and looks at Blaine with the most adoring eyes and Blaine feels his heart stutter in his chest because god, he's so in love with this boy and the look Nate is giving him right now makes waking up at ass-o'clock, getting on a train, waiting in line for those damn bagels and waiting in the cold, New-York-in-December air for a cab, totally worth it.
"Good morning," he whispers, reaching up to push blond locks back from his boyfriend's forehead. Nate smiles, leans in for a kiss and Blaine meets him halfway. It's been awhile since they last kissed, since they last saw each other, and Blaine hardly minds Nate's morning breath as he runs his tongue across Nate's bottom lip. Nate's lips part and Blaine hums into the kiss, slipping his tongue in to taste and tease, before pulling away with a grin and hiding his face in Nate's neck where he breathes in deep, sighing happily, because this is where he belongs – right here, close to Nate where he can breathe him in and kiss him and touch him whenever he wants, not back at Wisteria in a room by himself, with only Sir Thomas to keep him company at night because Blaine still just doesn't think it would be right to ask Everett to share a room with him again, even though he hadn't thought of Everett in that way for over a year now. Right here with Nate is home, and Blaine growls, playfully, nipping at the soft skin on Nate's neck, thinking about how much he missed this. "You smell and taste like sleepy." Blaine mumbles, and it doesn't make sense really, but he says it anyway and it's okay because even if Nate doesn't get it, Blaine can say things like that around him and not feel like an idiot and isn't that what being love is about anyway?
"You're naked," Nate says, running his hands down Blaine's back, resting them on the swell of Blaine's ass. It has always taken Nate a bit to get it together in the mornings, and Blaine honestly wasn't expecting much by way of a greeting other than the kiss, so honestly, the fact that Nate was even able to get that out is enough for Blaine.
"Mhmm." Blaine's still pressed into Nate's neck, biting and sucking at the skin there, his fingers drifting to glide over Nate's stomach under his t-shirt. "I am definitely naked."
"Definitely naked." Nate sighs, tilts his head up, exposing more of his neck for Blaine to get at and Blaine mentally thanks him for the favor, because he was getting a little bored of that little bit of space. Blaine misses slow mornings like this, when he basically used to live in Nate's room for Nate's entire senior year, sharing Nate's space, Nate's bed, Nate's clothes, Nate's warmth. He misses showers together and breakfast together and walking down the hall to class together, hands linked as Blaine peered up at Nate and wondered how he got so lucky as to have a boy like Nate fall in love with a boy like him. He misses Nate dropping him off at class with a kiss before jogging down the hall so he wasn't late for his own class. He misses lunch together, and then meeting up later for dinner if neither of them had other plans. He misses being able to go on dates whenever they felt like it – "Hey, you want to go to that pizzeria in the city? The one with the veggie pizza that you like. My treat, babe, and I'll buy you one of those grape drinks that you like." – and being able to kiss whenever they felt like it too. He misses kissing a lot and he misses sex just as much. He misses Nate's hands, lips, teeth on him, seemingly everywhere at once, he misses his own hands, lips, teeth on Nate, tasting and feeling and coming so hard he sees stars every single time because every single time with Nate is just as amazing as the last. And he misses after, when they're both blissed out and content, wrapped up in each other, sweaty but comfortable and Nate smelled delicious and he felt warm and pliant under Blaine's fingers as Blaine traced patterns in his skin and Blaine could hardly breathe in those moments where he felt so much everything pressing down on him from all around, so much that he shivered from the weight of it all, and felt Nate shivering, next to him, under him, behind him, because Nate could feel the everything too.
Blaine misses all of that, the feeling of everything, especially, but he feels it now, lifting his head to look into Nate's eyes again, he feels it and he knows Nate does too, because Nate's leaning down again to capture Blaine in a harsh kiss. They pull away, breathing hard, and Blaine runs his foot up Nate's leg and laughs to push the everything away for right now because while the everything is a good, wonderful feeling, it's a bit too heavy for – he glances at Nate's digital clock – eight in the morning. Nate shakes his head, kicks Blaine's feet away and pouts. "Your feet are still cold," he whines, tangling their legs together again and kissing Blaine's nose. "Your nose is cold, too."
Blaine grins, shifting onto his back, and pulling Nate over him. It's warm under the blankets, and Blaine's lycanthropy keeps him running hot – usually – but his toes, nose and fingers always take a bit to get with the program and are always the first to get cold and the last to heat up. "Warm me up," he whispers against Nate's lips and as Nate's hands drift down to tease and stroke and Blaine's back arches as his fingers dig into Nate's shoulders, Blaine forgets how much he misses things and how much he absolutely hates Nate being in college because this sort of almost makes up for it. Almost.
