Chapter 11: Deepening Bonds
The third week of the university’s forced arrangement had transformed from obligation into something neither of them could name aloud.
What had started as reluctant supervision had quietly become routine. Comfort. Dependence.
Mornings now carried their own quiet ritual.
Sangwoo always arrived early outside Ethan’s dorm, tall frame cutting an imposing silhouette against the pale dawn light filtering through the campus trees. Dressed in a fitted black shirt stretched across broad shoulders and dark jeans that emphasized his athletic build, he looked every bit the sharp, untouchable alpha students whispered about.
Dark blue hair pushed back neatly.
Strong jaw tense with focus.
Sharp eyes scanning the entrance like he was waiting for something precious.
The moment Ethan stepped outside, Sangwoo’s entire posture softened in a way only Ethan ever saw.
The contrast between them was almost unfair.
Ethan emerged wrapped in an oversized lavender hoodie that nearly swallowed his slim frame whole, loose black sweatpants brushing the tops of his sneakers. His white hair was messy from sleep, soft strands falling over tired but striking green eyes.
Even exhausted, Ethan looked unreal.
Gentle expressions that somehow made people instinctively lower their voices around him.
Beautiful in the kind of way that hurt to look at for too long.
And Sangwoo had become painfully aware of it.
“Morning, hyung,” Ethan greeted softly, voice carrying that faint Brazilian lilt beneath the Korean.
He adjusted his bag carefully, trying to hide the stiffness in his aching fingers.
“You didn’t sleep enough,” Sangwoo murmured immediately.
Before Ethan could answer, Sangwoo stepped closer until his broad chest nearly brushed the omega’s head. One large hand came up naturally to cup Ethan’s cheek, thumb brushing gently beneath the faint shadows under tired green eyes.
Ethan leaned into the touch before he could stop himself.
“A small one overnight,” he admitted quietly. “Mostly my stomach. I handled it.”
Sangwoo’s expression darkened immediately.
“You should’ve called me.”
His storm-and-oak scent bloomed heavily around them, rich and protective, wrapping around Ethan like a weighted blanket against the cold morning air.
Then Sangwoo pulled him closer.
Just because he wanted to.
Ethan fit perfectly against his chest now, small body tucked beneath Sangwoo’s chin while familiar pheromones soothed the lingering ache buried beneath his ribs almost instantly.
“I mean it, shorty,” Sangwoo muttered against soft white hair. “No more suffering alone.”
Something fragile inside Ethan tightened painfully.
His arms wrapped around Sangwoo’s waist as much as they could, small hands curling into the back of the alpha’s shirt.
“I’m trying,” Ethan whispered. “It’s just… new.”
Sangwoo looked down slightly.
“Having someone who stays,” Ethan finished softly. “Even when I’m like this.”
For a moment, neither moved.
The world around them blurred into cold air and distant footsteps while their scents intertwined warmly between them.
Then Sangwoo pressed one last lingering squeeze against Ethan’s back before guiding him toward class.
They walked across campus together like they always did now.
Sangwoo shortened his long strides automatically without thinking about it anymore, one arm draped loosely—but possessively—around Ethan’s narrow shoulders.
If Sangwoo tilted his head slightly, his chin rested comfortably atop Ethan’s soft white hair.
Whispers followed them through the crowded pathways.
But Sangwoo’s sharp glare and heavy alpha scent kept most people from approaching.
No one missed the way Ethan stayed tucked against his side.
Or the way Sangwoo unconsciously guided him around crowds with quiet touches against his back and waist.
By afternoon, Ethan’s condition worsened.
They’d claimed their usual private study room after lunch, papers and laptops spread messily across the table while rain tapped softly against the windows.
Ethan had tried to focus on the group project.
But halfway through organizing research notes, his body finally gave in.
Pain hit hard and sudden.
A sharp gasp escaped him before he could suppress it.
His hands trembled violently.
Swollen joints burned beneath pale skin.
One arm wrapped instinctively around his stomach as another wave of pain twisted through him.
Sangwoo was beside him instantly.
The chair scraped harshly against the floor as Sangwoo crouched in front of him.
Green eyes shimmered faintly with pain.
“Sangwoo…” Ethan breathed weakly.
Before Ethan could protest, Sangwoo slid one arm beneath his knees and the other securely around his back, lifting the tiny omega effortlessly into his arms.
Ethan instinctively curled closer during the short walk to the wide couch positioned against the far wall of the room.
Sangwoo settled him down carefully like something fragile.
But he didn’t stop there.
Without hesitation, Sangwoo pulled his own shirt over his head, revealing warm toned skin and lean muscle beneath.
Ethan’s breath caught automatically.
Sangwoo was beautiful too.
Strong in a way Ethan had always secretly associated with safety.
“Hyung…” Ethan whispered weakly, cheeks flushing.
Ignoring him completely, Sangwoo gently helped peel Ethan’s oversized hoodie away next, leaving the omega in a thin white t-shirt and soft shorts.
The difference between them looked even more dramatic now.
Sangwoo’s broad chest and powerful build completely dwarfed Ethan’s slimmer frame.
Ethan looked impossibly small beside him.
The possessive instinct hit Sangwoo hard enough to make his chest ache.
“You don’t have to—” Ethan started softly.
The answer came immediately.
Then Sangwoo climbed onto the couch behind him.
Carefully, he maneuvered Ethan until the omega rested fully against his chest, spooned securely in the alpha’s arms.
One thick thigh slid naturally between Ethan’s smaller legs.
Their bodies fit together too perfectly now.
Sangwoo’s chest pressed flush against Ethan’s back while one strong arm wrapped protectively across his waist.
Then warm fingers slipped beneath Ethan’s shirt.
Sangwoo’s palm settled against the omega’s bare stomach, radiating steady heat directly into aching muscles.
“Breathe with me,” Sangwoo murmured softly against his ear.
The contact felt overwhelming in the best possible way.
Intimate enough to make his pulse flutter weakly.
Sangwoo’s scent flooded the room in slow heavy waves—storm winds, oak, warmth, safety—all wrapped around something darker now.
Something deeply possessive.
The pheromones soothed Ethan’s flare almost immediately.
Pain softened from unbearable to manageable.
His trembling gradually eased.
And with a broken sigh, Ethan melted completely back into Sangwoo’s hold.
“You’re so warm,” Ethan whispered quietly.
The words made Sangwoo exhale sharply.
Because Ethan could feel all of him.
The broad chest against his back.
The muscle in Sangwoo’s thighs and arms.
The heavy outline of Sangwoo’s growing arousal pressing noticeably against him through layers of fabric.
Ethan’s face burned crimson.
He had never been this close to another alpha before.
Never been held like this.
Never felt someone’s desire surrounding him alongside such careful gentleness.
Sangwoo noticed the immediate shift in Ethan’s scent.
Vanilla rain turned warmer.
Slowly, Sangwoo lowered his head until his lips brushed the sensitive skin behind Ethan’s ear.
“I can smell how you react to me,” he murmured quietly.
Another soft brush of lips against his neck.
“I’m not taking anything you’re not ready to give.”
Then Sangwoo’s voice dropped lower.
His hand tightened slightly against Ethan’s waist.
“Knowing you’re untouched… knowing nobody’s ever had you like this…” His breath warmed Ethan’s skin. “It does things to me.”
Ethan’s breath hitched sharply.
Without thinking, he rocked back once experimentally against Sangwoo.
The reaction was immediate.
Sangwoo inhaled hard through his teeth as the pressure made him thicken further behind Ethan.
A soft needy sound escaped Ethan before he could stop it.
“I’ve never…” Ethan swallowed nervously. “During heats, I lock myself away. Suppressants. Alone.”
“I was scared of needing someone who’d leave once things got hard.”
Sangwoo’s chest tightened painfully.
The thought of Ethan alone during heats—hurting, frightened, isolated—made something protective inside him turn almost feral.
His arms tightened instinctively around the omega.
“With you,” Ethan whispered, eyes fluttering shut as Sangwoo’s hand resumed slow soothing circles against his stomach, “I don’t feel scared.”
A low alpha rumble vibrated through Sangwoo’s chest.
Carefully, Sangwoo shifted his hips just enough for Ethan to feel his full size pressing heavily against him without going any further.
The sheer size made Ethan whimper softly.
“When you’re ready,” Sangwoo murmured hotly against his ear, “I’ll take care of you properly.”
His voice sent heat racing through Ethan’s body.
A kiss against the back of his neck.
“I want your first time to feel good. Safe. I want you shaking from pleasure, not fear.”
Ethan’s face burned even hotter.
But beneath the embarrassment was trust so deep it almost hurt.
“But not today,” Sangwoo whispered more softly. “Today I just want to hold you through the pain.”
Sangwoo never loosened his hold once.
His pheromones flooded the room steadily, wrapping Ethan in warmth and comfort while the flare gradually eased beneath careful touches and skin-to-skin heat.
At some point, Sangwoo fed Ethan the snacks he’d packed earlier that morning—low-sugar rice cakes and carefully sliced fruit safe for his diabetes.
When Ethan’s trembling hands couldn’t hold the water bottle steadily, Sangwoo simply lifted it for him without comment.
Gentle in ways nobody expected from Kim Sangwoo.
As evening light faded gold against the rain-streaked windows, Ethan slowly turned in Sangwoo’s arms until they faced each other fully.
Green eyes met dark blue.
Filled with something dangerously close to love.
“My parents would like you,” Ethan murmured quietly.
Sangwoo blinked slightly.
“Mami always said I needed someone strong enough to carry me when Rio’s hospitals became too much.”
His fingertips brushed lightly along Sangwoo’s jaw.
“Papi would approve of how protective you are.”
Emotion flickered across Sangwoo’s face too quickly to hide.
Slowly, he leaned forward until their foreheads rested together.
“I’m not doing this because of the dean anymore,” Sangwoo admitted quietly.
One large hand slid down to Ethan’s hip, fingers slipping slightly beneath the waistband of his shorts.
“The thought of you hurting alone makes me want to tear the world apart.”
“You’re mine to protect now, shorty,” Sangwoo whispered. “Flare-ups. Injections. All of it.”
Something in Ethan’s expression crumbled completely then.
Softly, carefully, Ethan lifted one hand to Sangwoo’s cheek.
Sweet enough to make Sangwoo’s chest ache.
For one stunned second, Sangwoo froze.
Then he kissed Ethan back immediately.
One hand cradled the back of Ethan’s white-haired head while the other tightened protectively around his waist.
The kiss deepened just slightly—enough to taste warmth and vanilla sweetness before Sangwoo forced himself to slow down.
When they finally pulled apart, both of them were breathing harder.
Ethan’s cheeks glowed pink.
“I want more with you,” he admitted shyly. “When my body lets me. When I’m stronger.”
Sangwoo’s expression softened so completely it almost looked painful.
He pressed a kiss against Ethan’s forehead.
Then another against his temple.
“We have time,” Sangwoo whispered.
Another kiss against soft white hair.
“I’m not going anywhere.”
That night, they fell asleep tangled together on the couch.
Sangwoo’s larger body curled protectively around Ethan’s smaller one.
One hand remained spread warmly across Ethan’s stomach the entire night.
Their scents blended perfectly in the dim quiet room—vanilla rain wrapped tightly inside storm-dark oak.
Outside, campus life continued like normal.
Lights flickered through dorm windows.
Completely unaware that inside one quiet room, two lonely hearts had finally started finding home in each other.
