I walked along the sidewalks next to the busy street, holding hands with my boyfriend, Nekomaru. Every so often, he would pull me back to his side, making sure my mind wouldn't wander too far and my body wouldn't end up dragging both of us into the street. It quickly became a cycle: my mind wanders, I almost swerve into the street, he pulls me back, the cycle starts over. After about 7 repeats of this cycle, in the middle of my mind wandering, I was snapped out of my trance by the sound of my love's voice.
" Y'know, you can't just let your brain go wherever it wants to!! "
He noticed how my attention had instantly turned to him, earning me a chuckle.
" I guess I ought to keep talking, huh!? "
He chuckled once more, this time to himself more than anything, then he went silent, as if a thousand thoughts had just rushed into his head.
It was a while before he spoke again, his voice still as loud and proud.. As usual.
" I have an idea!! Just so we can get you away from all the cars- and any other possible street danger, of course -Let's go to the park for a bit!!! How bout it??!"
" hmm.. Alright! I'll accept your offer! " I bubbled, making sure our hands were still linked before walking a little bit ahead of him in the general direction I remember our destination being.
The closer we got to our journey's end, the more I noticed Nekomaru's energy turn slightly nervous. Of course, he was still mostly confident, there was just the faint feeling of anxiety. We got there and kept walking until we reached about the center of the park, upon which he stopped in his tracks, looking around to see how many people there were before turning to me.
" Hey! Look here a sec. "
I blinked slowly, looking at him out of the corner of my eye and tilting my head.
" I have something very important to ask you!! "
" Hm? " I shifted my whole body to face him. " Yeeesh? "
I noticed him rummage around in one of the sleeves of his coat, since he had no pockets.. And pull out a small, round-ish box. And all of a sudden he's down on one knee, carefully opening the box as to not crush it with his giant hands.. And revealing a pink annalise ring.
" I know this may not be much, but.. Will you marry me?! "
It took me a few astounded seconds to recognize what was going on. A few people stopped in their tracks to look at the scene.
I managed to stammer out a " I- Wow- You really- " before I felt tears welling in my eyes. It took me a good minute to finally give a clear answer..
It was there that Nekomaru's expression went from anxious to ecstatic. He picked me up and spun me around, before placing me on his shoulder and proudly proclaiming that he was the luckiest man in the world.
And I thought I was the lucky one. Maybe we both were. Yeah. We both were.
So... Guess who's gettin married again? Me!! And Nekomaru. That's p much it. That's the news.
