“Learn to let go
Don’t be scared of your feelings
Acknowledge them and let them be
Lighten the load
Take time to heal
Allow time to pass
Try not to distress yourself
You are not alone
Life is change
Life is beautiful”
- Unknown.
My Mental Health has been (and still is currently) shit, but that is ok because I have built up stress, anxiety and trauma I need to let go of, and by being open to God/the Universe I am getting so many messages.
Today I came across this poem, or as I now believe I was guided. I don’t know who wrote it, but I read it and I cried. Life is truly beautiful once you open yourself up to God/the Universe. Allow yourself to be vulnerable, and you will transform, I promise. You have got to keep surviving and living, because through that you will heal and explore your purpose.
I am going to write this poem out and read it each and every day to remind myself that there is hope.
If you are reading this and you are struggling, please stay strong. For you. For me. For the world. The world needs YOU. .

What is Self-Care?
Self-care is a daily practice of taking the time out of your everyday life to look after your mind, body, spirit and soul.
You can’t practice self-care without having self-love, the two work together when you start to become more self-aware. However, I have found it very challenging to truly love and care for myself, when I have a mental health condition called Borderline Personality Disorder.
Having BPD makes day to day life a massive challenge, I often feel overwhelmed by the intensity of my triggers and emotions. Living in a busy fast paced society worsens my mental health, therefore, it is essential that I make a conscious effort to include self-care in all aspects of my life.
My simplest forms of self-care which I try and aim to maintain and practice once a day are: Morning pages (“three pages of longhand, stream of consciousness writing, done first thing in the morning” -Julia Cameron), taking a shower, brushing my teeth, getting dressed, having a cup of tea, listening to music, taking 10 mins to sit down and practice a guided mindfulness exercise, hugging a friend or a family member (human contact soothes me), drinking water, eating 3 meals per day and smelling lavender.
My advanced forms of self-care which I treat myself to once I have practiced the simplest forms are: Buying a bouquet of flowers, treating myself to a bar of chocolate, taking myself on a solo date to explore something I’m curious about, buying a facemask and booking a massage.
What does your self-care involve?
Let knowledge and effort be your water🌱
RETURNING TO MY SOUL HOME 🏠 The last few days have been very challenging for me. Fathers Day was a massive trigger, and since then I have fallen into a depression, feeling hopeless. But I have realised that has happened for a reason, like everything in life. Without me falling into a depression I wouldn’t have been able to reflect and realise that the “Daddy Issues” I’m carrying around are weighing me down. I can’t carry it anymore. I’m tired. Laying in the dark for hours on end, crying, binge eating, binge drinking I realised how hurt I feel, and how I must process my trauma in order to heal. To process trauma we must return to our soul homes within ourselves and work back to where the feelings of hurt and rejection started. Only then when we’ve identified it we can do the hard work of healing. Going to our soul homes can mean lots of different things to different people, however going home to me means, taking a pause on life and connecting with myself to practice self-care, self-compassion and self-love, which comes from me being self-aware. When I’ve arrived in my soul home I like to cry, journal and sit in the shit for a bit. I need to feel, knowing my soul home is supporting me. If you are reading this, know you are loved. Yes, I know I may not know you, but you a reading this for a bigger reason. Set a time this week where you go on a short holiday to your soul home. You have got this. ❤️
self-care instruction manual
forgive yourself : it’s okay if you didn’t wake up early, go for a run, or finish that assignment. you’re only human
start slow : don’t set your expectations too high when you’re just starting off
keep learning : getting to where you want to be is a process. don’t expect perfection overnight
be kind to yourself : you’ll make mistakes along the way, but don’t let that stop you
It’s weird that there are people out there who don’t have crippling fears of abandonment…
We’re celebrating Pride month on Tumblr with a series of interviews from celebrities and artists, asking them about expression, identity, and art. Today’s dose of queer Pride comes from writer and illustrator Ludi Leiva (@ludileiva).
How do you express yourself on a day-to-day basis?
By starting each morning with three pages of free writing. By giving myself permission to doodle just because. Not for anyone, just for myself and I’m learning the idea that my worth isn’t rooted in how much money I make.
What is the relationship between your art and your identity?
My identity and my art are inextricably linked…you can’t really divorce one from the other. My art and my creative process is a way for me to learn more about myself; To tease apart my identity and to heal.
What advice would you give your younger self about exploring your identity?
Not worry about pleasing people all the time, not worry about societal expectations, and to listen to her intuition. If I had learned that sooner, I think I would have had a different life.
What about you, Tumblr? How does your identity guide your art? Let your followers know in a post. Tag it #TumblrPride so it’s easily found by the community. Need inspiration? Follow @ludileiva for more beautiful illustrations.

i am so proud of all of you. why? because you’re reading this. because you’re alive. maybe you’re not doing so well right now but that’s okay! it’s okay to cry, it’s okay to be sad, it’s okay to need time and help. it’s okay. i’m proud because despite everything you are still alive, you’re still breathing and you are still here. i l care about you even if i don’t know you, i promise you i do. i am so happy you’re still alive
