some uni essentials ☁️
I love this weather so much. I’m studying for uni, knitting my sweater and enjoying the view. It’s a lovely day 😋

DNA
Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) - double-stranded nucleic acid containing the genetic information of a living thing. It is essential for the cell growth, division, and function of an organism.
DNA Structure
DNA is composed of two twisted strands that form a helix. Each of these strands consists of alternating:
Phosphate (PO4)
Pentose sugar (2-deoxyribose),
Attached on the sugar is a nitrogenous base, either:
Adenine, Thymine, Guanine, or Cytosine.
In DNA, these bases pair:
Adenine pairs with Thymine
Guanine with Cytosine
Hence, DNA is a ladder-like helical structure.

BIOLOGY STUDENTS
LOOK:
BIONINJA. It’s as cool as it sounds. BioNinja is a compilation of biology resources (specifically for IB) including outlines, videos, and powerpoints. Awesome. My favorite part, however, are the quick reference sheets! They are perfect for reviewing.
To get to the reference sheets, click “Additional Resources” (as seen above)
And then click the “Biology Quick Reference Guides” (or click here)
and it will open a complete list of EVERYTHING YOU WILL NEED TO KNOW FOR THE BIOLOGY TEST. (HL and SL!) How cool is this?????
Each topic is linked to a one page reference sheet!
I’M OFFICIALLY OBSESSED WITH THESE. I’m currently rewriting them all to study for next year! If you don’t want to rewrite them, it would also be awesome to have them printed out in your binder or folder to study from!
Any tips about studying Biology?
When I was doing bio in high school and in my first year of college, I didn’t really do all that I do with subjects now because it just wasn’t as heavy and I didn’t feel like I needed to.
Disclaimer: I’m not saying you should always stick to the following, I’m giving you advice based on what worked for me.
Before you start, set objectives. Know what you need to learn and how you’ll go about learning it. You can make notes or flashcards or study straight from the book… whatever works for you. (My preference is to make notes).
Spend time learning the way you learn best (I do that by explaining things to myself a couple of times).
When you’re confident that you’ve learned everything, close your books/notes/study material and re-explain what you learned.
If you have access to questions or practice tests, do them.
Review regularly. Try as you go along to formulate questions so that you look at the information from different points of view.
Some tips on what you could do before your study sessions to make it easier for yourself:
Skim the book/lecture slides/objectives if posted by your instructor before going to class you can follow along easily.
Actively listen in class and take notes if you need to (I didn’t need to in HS because everything explained was in the books).
Go over the material in the next 24 hours.
Hope this helped! Happy studying :)
January 2019 Spread!
Glance at the Month (bottom left). I have this in my yearly spread, but this is just a nice clean square so I can see where I'm at in the month. I messed up so I had to cover it with a post it.
Weekly's (top left). I can't justify having daily spreads because I don't do enough to fill them up, so I like these weekly to-do boxes. I mainly use them to plan out my studying.
Habit tracker (middle). From left to right we have Exercise, Study, Meditate, Read and Floss, which was added today after my dentist appointment. Things got disrupted with my holiday last weekend but I want to get back on track.
Monthly goals. Again, I use it to plan my studying, but also to keep track of my New Year's resolutions.
I'm really enjoying the usefulness of this spread so far. Could it be prettier? Sure, and I'll give it a go next month, but I want it to be functional. Don't live your life just to look good on tumblr.
Good luck with your goals this January!

Spent the morning watching Countdown, prepping for my English exam and designing my tattoo. I'll spend the afternoon eating lunch out with my family, working and studying History.
p.s.: When it comes to essay exams, I like to make as many templates as I can, so that I can just fill in the gaps depending on the topic. Anybody else?
