Not to be picky, but what in the hybrid mistle-holly-toe is this?
Let's Learn About Fall Mums!
Fall mums, short for Chrysanthemums, are small puffball-like flowers that are VERY popular during autumn/fall.
Mums come in white, orange, yellow, red, pink, green, and violet.
They prefer well-drained and peaty soil and full sun. They are fairly low maintence and are perennials, so they'll come back each year.
While popular and great for decorating spaces, they are toxic dogs, cats, and horses. The plants can cause vomiting, diarrhea, and skin irritation.
Chrysanthemums are the birth month flower of November.
Mums as a whole represent joy, friendship, happiness, and well-being. White mums can represent mourning and grief as well as purity and innocence. Red mums are for love and a great alternative to roses. Pink mums are friendship and affection. Orange mums are for excitement and happiness. Yellow mums are for joy and celebration. Green mums are for rebirth and good health. Lastly, violet mums are for thoughtfulness and care.
What's The Difference Between Holly and Mistletoe?
While both are popular for the Christmas season, they are two different plants.
Holly
Holly is a genus to over 570 flowering plants. However, Christmas Holly is a type of evergreen tree, shrub, or climbers native to North America. During the fall and winter, the female trees grow bright red berries. The leaves of holly are spikey.
Christians adopted holly into Christmas by having their spikey leaves represent the thorny crown Christ was said to be wearing during His crucifixion. The red berries represent His blood, and the evergreen is a metaphor for life after death.
Holly, as a whole, represents protection. The berries are poisonous and cannot be eaten.
Mistletoe
Mistletoe is a parasitic plant that attaches itself to a host tree or shrub. They usually have white berries and smooth, oval, evergreen leaves. Their berries are sticky to attach to birds and other creatures. Mistletoe is often hung around Christmas time where couples are supposed to kiss under it. This is due to Norse mythology.
There are variations of the story, but Frigg (The Queen of Asgard and the highest of the goddesses) had a son named Baldur. The god Loki crafted an arrow made of mistletoe and used it to kill him. In one version, the gods were able to use the mistletoe to bring Baldur back to life. In others, he remained dead. Either way, it was said that Frigg promised that mistletoe would be a symbol for love and that she would kiss anyone standing under mistletoe as long as it was not used for a weapon. Romans believed mistletoe represented peace and would reconcile with their enemies at war under it.
Mistletoe became associated with fertility and vitality and was commonly used for wedding and festivals. By the 18th century, mistletoe was incorporated into Christmas. It's said that kissing under mistletoe will bring about luck and fertility. The berries are poisonous and cannot be eaten.
Carnations: The Mother's Day Flower
With Mother's Day coming up this weekend, I'd like to share some knowledge about the official Mother's Day Flower: carnations.
Carnations are colorful puffball-like flowers that have many layers like roses. They can come in a multitude of colors, both natural and man-made. They take roughly 180 to 200 days to grow and get up to 24 inches (60.96 cm or 2 feet) tall.
Carnations, at their core, symbolize fascination, distinction, and love. However, each color can symbolize
Light Red: Admiration
Dark Red: Love and Affection
Orange: Β Capriciousness, unpredictability
Yellow: Disappointment and Rejection
Green: Good Luck, Good Fortune, Homosexuality (especially when worn on the left lapel by a man)
Blue: Mystery, Peace
Purple:: Β Capriciousness, unpredictability
White: Purity, Sweetness, Good Luck (specifically for mothers)
Pink: Gratitude
Remember, the base root of carnations is love, and you do not have to abide by the color-base meanings.

Common Food That I Think Grow Rather Strangely
Pineapples. Thought they grew on trees, actually grow on bromeliads (how'd I not know this? I literally owned a bromeliad)
2. Dragon Fruit. Grows on cactus which is neat
3. Asparagus. Grows out of the ground but looks like someone just put them there as a joke
4. Cashews. Grows on the end of a fruit called a "cashew apple" or 'cashew fruit". The fruit is also edible but not as popular.
All the flowers mentioned in The Amazing Devil lyrics π±

Upper right: red rose, mentioned in Elsa's Song.
Middle: blue Forget-Me-Nots, mentioned in Elsa's Song.
Bottom left: pink rockrose, mentioned in The Rockrose and The Thistle.
Bottom right: purple thistle, mentioned in The Rockrose and The Thistle.
Let's talk about mulch!
What is mulch?
Mulch is any material that is laid on top of soil to use as a covering.
What is mulch made of?
Mulch is usually made of tree bark, wood chips, pine straw, moss, grass clippings, leaves, newspaper, manure, compost, or rubber.
What is the point of mulch?
Mulch is often used for:
Insulation, which keeps the soil warm in winter and cool in summer.
Better Soil, because mulch is often made with biodegradable material that improves soil quality AND can be eaten by insects and microbes which leaves by-products.
Conserve Moisture, because it helps prevent evaporation and can cause soil to dry lower.
Prevents Weeds, because it can block their access to sunlight and blocks them from sprouting.
Decoration, because it can add a splash of color to curbs and landscapes.
How do you apply mulch?
While wearing gloves, take small handfuls of mulch and spread it across the desire space. It can be up to 2 inches tall but must be at least 1 inch away from tree trunks and plant stems.
Does the color of mulch matter?
Mulch can be left undyed or dyed. It is often dyed red, black, or brown. But does the color of mulch matter? This is actually pretty split. Some sources say dyed mulch can rob plants of nitrogen and are more than likely not made from wood but rather recycled trash. However, other sources say colored mulch is completely safe and some say it is actually an improvement because different dyes, like red dye, may have extra iron in it and will last longer than non-dyed mulch.
If you choose to use dyed mulch, here are reasons why you would pick that color.
Red - Compliments warm tones and can stand out against houses that are white, cream-colored, or blue.
Brown - Softens the color of red brick
Black - Helps brightens the color of green plants and compliments gray, black, and contemporary houses.

πVenus's Looking Glass: A Mythical Purple Weedπ
Venus's Looking Glass, also known as Clasping Venus's Looking Glass and Clasping Bellflower, are purple flowers that grow on 4 inch to 1 foot tall stems. The flowers are star-shaped and 1/2 inch wide. They are often purple, blue-purple, and rarely white.
These flowers have a myth attracted to them! The myth behind this flower is that the goddess Venus once had a mirror but lost it. A shepherd boy picked it up but refused to return it because he was enamored by his enchanted reflection. Venus then tried to take it back with force, but the mirror was shattered in the process. The bellflowers bloomed where the shards landed. The myth was applied thanks to Venus's Looking Glass seeds appearing to be shiny like a looking glass.
These flowers are known for their beauty but are also widely considered as weeds. While it is not not recommended for humans to eat them, they do attract pollinators like bees and birds and are often eaten by wildlife such as deer. Their roots can be used to help indigestion. They represent Venus, and in turn, represent feminity and womanhood.
Companion Planting
Plants are great alone but can have different effects thanks to their neighbors. Plants that have positive effects on their neighbors are called Companion Plants. Plants that have a negative effect are Allelopathy Plants.
Different types of benefits of companion plants are:
Deterring Pests
Attracting Pollinators
Shade Regulation; such as when a tall sun-loving plant blocks the sun from a short shade-loving plant
Improved Soil Health
Weed Suppression
One example of Companion Plants are tomatoes and basil. Both are often used in the kitchen, so growing both can be useful. However, basil can be used to repel tomato-loving pests such as thrips and moths.
One example of Allelopathy Plants are beans and garlic. Beans, and other legumes such as peas, should not be planted with garlic as garlic can stunt the pea plant's growth. Garlic should also be avoided by onions as its potent stench can attract onion maggots.

The 6 Types of Soil π±
Chalk
Chalky soil is alkaline and is stony and easily drains. It is often set above a layer of limestone or chalk. Minerals are easily absorbed from this type of soil and needs to be replenished via fertilizers. Some plants that enjoy this soil are Baby's Breath, Chinese Peony, California Poppies, and Rosemary.
Clay
Clay soil is thick soil that dries and cracks when warm and becomes slimy and sticky when wet. It drains poorly and is hard to dig into. However, this soil is full of nutrients. Some plants that like clay soil are asters, bearded irises, bee balm, and butterfly bush.
Loam
Loamy soil is one of the most versatile soils. It is a mixture of silt, clay, and sand. It warms quickly in spring and doesn't drain too easily yet doesn't become waterlogged. Some plants that like this type of soil are tomatoes, carrots, strawberries, and honeysuckles.
Peat
Peaty soil is soil that is acidic and high in organic matter such as decomposed plant or animal tissue. It is low in nutrients and clings to water, which causes waterlogging. It is spongey and rarely used in gardens. Some plants that like peaty soil are witch hazel, camellia, and azaleas.
Sand
Sandy soil easily drains and is gritty. It dries out and loses nutrients quickly, so it needs to be frequently watered and fertilized. It warms early in spring. Some plants that like sandy soil are potatoes, lavender, cucumbers, and radishes.
Silt
Silty soil is very fine soil made when rocks erode from ice or water damage. It becomes slippery when wet but not grainy. It is smooth to the touch and easily compacted. Silty soil is best used for moisture-loving plants. Some plants that like this soil are vines, grasses, and trees such as dogwood and birch.

Popular Valentine's Day Flowers
(Aka I work in retail and these are the flowers we sold)
Roses
Roses are a timeless classic. Each color has a different meaning with red (romantic love) being the most popular followed by yellow (friendship, happiness) and orange (happiness, warmth). See pervious post for more colors.
2. Carnations
Carnations are popular puffball flowers that come in pink, white, red, scarlet, yellow, and green. They grow best in full sun and well-drained, alkaline soil. Given right conditions, they would be given light watering two to three times a week. They are completely edible. They are said to have a spicy clove-like taste and are often used for salad garnishes and cake decorations. Carnations symbolize love, which is why they are popular for funerals and are a great alternative to roses. Green carnations specifically, while they represent good fortune and youth, are also a symbol of gay or homosexual love as it had become popularized in 1892 by playwright Oscar Wilde.
3. Asters
Asters are purple or pink flowers from the daisy family. They prefer loamy soil (dirt with a small amount of sand and clay) and full sun. They hate shade. The reproduce by stolons or branching stems much like strawberries. They can grow anywhere from 1 to 6 feet tall (30.4 to 182.9 cm). They are great for pollinators and easily attract bees and syrphid flies. The flowers are edible and can be used for salads. The leaves can be made into tea. They symbolize love, wisdom, and faith.
4. Orange Lilies
Orange lilies, also known as fire lilies, are orange flowers. They prefer tropical climates. They like bright indirect sunlight and partial shade. They can grow up to 2 feet (60.96 cm) tall. The best fertilizer for them are slow-release fertilizers. They can attract pests such as mealybugs and spider mites. They are poisonous and can cause digestive issues to humans and pets. They symbolize confidence, pride, and wealth.
5. Calla Lilies
Calla lilies are elegant lilies that are shaped like a cone. They are most popularly known as white, but they also come in pink, orange, yellow, lavender, and dark maroon. They prefer full sun in cooler weather and partial sun in warmer weather. They regrow annually and can last for years. They like to be moist, but overwatering needs to be avoided due to root rot. They are mildly poisonous and can cause burning of the mouth and eyes in humans and cats but are usually not fatal unless taken in high dosage. They symbolize fertility, life, and death, which is why they are popular for weddings and funerals.
6. Anthurium
Anthurium, also known as Laceleaf or Flamingo Flower, are a type of red, pink, or white heart-shaped flowers. They prefer warmer climates, well-drained, acidic soil, and indirect sunlight as they do not like direct sunlight except during the winter. However, they do not like shade for long periods of time. They are traditionally used as houseplants due to their temperature preference of 60 degrees Fahrenheit (15.5 Celsius) or higher. They should be kept moist and never allowed to dry completely. They are toxic and can cause burning of the mouth. They symbolize hospitality.

Flower Information Based on The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings
1. Peregrine Thistle
Peregrin "Pippin" Took is one of the main four hobbits in The Fellowship alongside Frodo Baggins, Samwise Gamgee, and Meriadoc Brandybuck in The Lord of the Rings. Peregrin is a more "masculine" version of Peregrine. Peregrin Took is the son of Eglantine Took and Thane Paladin Took II of The Shire. He has three older sisters named Pearl, Pimpernel, and Pervinca. He is first cousins with Meriadoc Brandybuck, second cousins with Frodo Baggins, and first cousins twice removed/second cousins once removed with Bilbo Baggins depending on the side of the family. Peregrin joins the journey at just 28 years old, the equivalent of 15 in hobbit years, and is the youngest of The Fellowship. He is best friends with Meriadoc Brandybuck and later befriends the ent Treebeard and the men Boromir and Faramir. In the books, he marries Diamond of Long Cleeve and has a son named Faramir Took.
Peregrine Thistle, aka Cirsium Cymosum, is a type of thistle commonly found in western North America. They have spikey spines and a cobweb-like texture. They are a relative of daisies and prefer direct and full sun for at least 6-8 hours a day. They can grow up to 3 feet (91.44 cm) tall and come in white, purple, and pink. They represent aggressiveness, pain, protection, and pride.
2. Eglantine
Eglantine Took, born Eglantine Banks, is the wife of Paladin Took II and the mother of Pearl, Pimpernel, Pervinca, and Peregrin Took. She does not make a movie appearance.
Eglantines are wild roses. They are large, light pink, and grow on thorny canes. Their petals are shaped like hearts. They tend to grow in Europe and Eastern Asia. They smell very strongly of apples and are often used for tea. They grow up to 15 inches (38.1 cm) tall. They represent pleasure and pain.
3. Scarlet Pimpernel
Pimpernel Took is the older sister of Pervinca and Peregrin Took and the younger sister to Pearl Took. She attends Bilbo's birthday party.
Scarlet Pimpernel, also known as red chickweed, shepherd's clock, and poor man's barometer; is a small red or orange flower with purple centers. Rarely, they also come in blue and pink. They have five petals and are considered weeds. Pimpernels that grow in the summer spread by creeping across the ground, and ones that grow in the winter have upright stems. They are very poisonous to humans, dogs, and horses. They represent humbleness, modesty, mystery, and evasiveness.
4. Pervinca or Myrtle
Pervinca Took is the older sister of Peregrin Took and the younger sister of Pearl and Pimpernel Took. She makes an appearance at Bilbo's birthday party and is in The Lord of the Rings Online video game.
Myrtle Burrows is a distant relative to Bilbo and Frodo Baggins. She attended Bilbo's birthday party at age 8 and is the great-great-great granddaughter of Balbo Baggins. She does not make a movie appearance.
Myrtle is the name of Bilbo's pony in The Hobbit.
Pervinca flowers, aka myrtle, vinca, and periwinkle, are soft five-petaled flowers that grow as bushes. They come in light pink, dark pink, blue, white, and wine purple. They prefer partial shade. They are a garden favorite. They are invasive flowers that spread with exploding seed pods. They are used to create vincristine which is used in chemotherapy. However, raw flowers are poisonous. They represent nostalgia, sadness, and purity. (I have some dark pink ones! They easily fit on a windowsill though they are a bit tall. The flowers sprout and fully bloom in one to two days and fall off and regrow just as quickly. They only need watering once every one to two weeks and have a very faint scent).
5. Belladonna
Belladonna Baggins, born Belladonna Took, was the wife of Bungo Baggins and the mother of Bilbo Baggins. She was the ninth of twelve children to Thane Gerontius "The Old" Took of The Shire. She was an adventurous soul who was friends with Gandalf before she and Bungo died during Fell Winter. She makes an appearance in The Hobbit Extended Version.
Belladonna, aka Deadly Nightshade, is a very incredibly poisonous flowering herb. It has bell-shaped purple flowers and black berries. It can grow to be 4-5 feet tall (1.5 meters). Its dried leaves and roots are used to create sedatives with occasional side effects. Eating only 2 of the berries can kill a child and 10-20 berries can kill an adult. They can cause heart attacks, skin irritation, blurry vision, fever, inability to urinate or sweat, hallucinations, spasms, and coma. Belladonna flowers represent silence, falsehood, and death.
6. Lobelia
Lobelia Sackville-Baggins, born Lobelia Bracegirdle, is the resented family member of Frodo and Bilbo Baggins. She is the wife of Otho Sackville-Baggins and the mother of Lotho Sackville-Baggins. Lobelia is known for wanting to steal Bag End and has successfully stolen Bilbo's silverware and was so rude to Samwise Gamgee in the books that Frodo Baggins refused to offer her tea.
Lobelias are an annual herb with many varieties. They tend to be red, pink, white, and commonly blue. Lobelias are also known as pukeweed because doctors used to use them to induce vomiting. Their young buds can be cooked and eaten but is ill-advised. Lobelias are easy-to-grow carefree plants that enjoy cool weather and need frequent watering in warmer weather. They are popularly used in hanging baskets. They represent love, prosperity, and good luck.
7. Rose
Rose "Rosie" Gamgee, born Rose Cotton, is a hobbit lass in The Lord of the Rings. She works as a barmaid at The Green Dragon. Samwise Gamgee fancies her, and Frodo Baggins encourages it. She attends Bilbo's birthday party where Frodo insists Sam needs to ask her for a dance. She later marries Samwise and has 13 children named Elanor the Fair, Frodo, Rose, Merry, Pippin, Goldilocks, Hamfast, Daisy, Primrose, Bilbo, Ruby, Robin, and Tolman.
Rose Gamgee is the daughter of Rose and Samwise Gamgee with her mother's namesake. She does not make a movie appearance.
Roses are round multipetaled flowers that grow on spikey thorn bushes. They come in red, pink, yellow, white, purple, and green, with other genetically modified colors such as black, blue, and orange. They prefer loam soil and full sun, but full sun can bleach them and cause the color to fade. Partial shade can reduce fading but will result in smaller buds. Rose petals are edible and are said to be sweet. Soaking the petals in water creates rose water which can improve skin and gut health. Different colored roses represent different things such as red roses meaning romantic love, yellow roses meaning friendship love, and blue roses meaning mysteriousness.
8. Primrose or Primula
Primrose Gamgee is one of the daughters of Sam and Rose Gamgee. She does not make a movie appearance.
Primula Baggins, born Primula Brandybuck, is the wife of Drogo Baggins and the mother of Frodo Baggins. She and Drogo drowned during a boating accident on the Brandywine River when Frodo was young, leaving him to live with his cousins in Brandy Hall for many years until Bilbo Baggins took him in. She does not make a movie appearance.
Primrose, also known as primula, is a popular garden flower. They have course heart-shaped petals and thick stocks. They come in yellow, red, pink, purple, and white. They have yellow centers. They are poisonous with tiny hairs on the stem that can cause blistering. They prefer partial sun and moist, well-drained, acidic soil. They represent spring, protection, safety, and love.

Marigold Cotton, born Marigold Gamgee, is the youngest child of Hamfast Gamgee and Belle Goodchild and is the sister to Hamson, Halfred, Daisy, May, and Samwise Gamgee. She later marries Tolman Cotton or Rose Cotton's brother. She is at Bilbo's birthday party, and she is also in The Lord of the Rings Online video game.
Marigold flowers are bright orange and yellow flowers that are round and puff to be spheres. They prefer partial to full sun and warm climates. They can easily self-seed and will most likely return annually. All parts of marigolds are edible from stems to roots to petals; they are even edible raw. They are said to taste sweet or sometimes savory. They have a very pungent scent that repels mosquitos, cabbage worms, whiteflies, and wild rabbits. Marigolds represent power, strength, passion, creativity, the brevity of life, and yellow marigolds can sometimes mean grief or jealousy.
10. Daisy
Daisy Gamgee is the daughter of Hamfast Gamgee and sister to Hamson, Halfred, May, Marigold, and Samwise Gamgee. She does not make a movie appearance.
Daisy Gamgee is also the name of Samwise and Rose Gamgee's daughter. She is named after her aunt. She does not make a movie appearance.
Daisies are white flowers with yellow centers. They can grow from 10 inches to a few feet tall with different variations. Their petals can be frilly, fluffy, or ruffled. They have serrated leaves. They prefer full sun and moist yet well-drained. They grow from summer to fall. They are the international symbol of innocence and purity.
11. Goldilocks
Goldilocks Took, born Goldilocks Gamgee, is the third daughter of Samwise and Rose Gamgee. She later marries Peregrin Took's son Faramir Took. She does not make a movie appearance.
Goldilocks, aka Creepy Jenny or Moneywart, are hanging ferns that have vines of shiny heart-shaped leaves. During mid-spring to summer, they sprout yellow flowers. They can grow up 4 inches (10 cm) tall. They like moist yet well-drained soil and full to partial sun (though definitely partical sun if in hot weather). They are generally deer and pest resistant. They are nontoxic and can be used for herbal teas if desidered though it is not common. It was once used to help "cure" whooping cough. It is known as "good medicine for all diseases".
Goldilocks can also mean a group of buttercup flowers. Buttercup flowers are small yellow flowers with yellow puffed centers. They can have anywhere between 0 to 23 petals. They are often fine with full sun or partial sun but are pickier with their soil by preferring it to be light, cool, and well-drained. They have thick layers of yellow pigment, but they catch air under the layers which causes the flowers to become glossy and shiny. They are often considered weeds. Buttercups are extremely poisonous and can cause blistering of the mouth. They represent joy, youth, purity, happiness, and friendship.
Goldilocks Rocks Bidens, aka Bidens or Spanish Needles, is another type of goldilocks. They are yellow and/or orange flowers with dark yellow centers. They prefer full sun for at least 6 hours a day, partial sun for 4-6 hours a day, and up to 4 hours of full shade. They can grow up to 14 inches (35.56 cm) and prefer moist soil. There are no reports of toxicity, but they are not traditionally eaten. They are excellent for pollinators but are considered weeds. It is part of the aster family and means "two teeth".
9. Gold Berry
Goldberry is the lovely wife of Tom Bombadil. She appears in The Adventures of Tom Bombadil and is later sung about by Bombadil in The Lord of the Rings with his song "Hey,Dol! Merry Dol!". She was portrayed in the movies, but she was later cut. She is known as the "River-woman's Daughter" and is described as being beautiful, youthful, and blonde.
Gold Berries, also known as goldenberries and cape gooseberries, are flowering plants that produce small orange fruits. Their flowers are yellow with brown in the center. They grow in hot and humid weather such as in Australia, South Africa, India, Malaysia, and The Philippines. They are oftened eaten and attacked by cutworms, red spiders, and potato tuber moths. Their fruits are often used for pies, sauces, puddings, jams, and ice cream.

Flower Information Inspired By The Band "The Amazing Devil"
My current favorite band is The Amazing Devil. It consists of Joey Batey and Madeleine Hyland. They sometimes use flowers in their songs or name their songs after flowers such as their song Blossoms.
Forget-Me-Nots
In their song Elsa's Song, they mention Forget-Me-Nots. The last sentence in the song is, "Out of all the flowers you picked, I knew you would forget forget-me-nots."
Forget-Me-Nots, also known as Scorpian Grasses, are small five-petaled blue flowers with yellow or white centers. They grow in woodsy or boggy areas and prefer moist soil in full sun. Their growing season is mid to late spring. They have a slight citrus smell. They are non-toxic and edible. They represent true love and respect.
2. Sage
Also in their song Elsa's Song, they mention sage, lilies, and roses in the line, "You'll strew some sage and lilies and roses where I rot."
Sage is a rather famous herb and is constantly being used in cooking. Sage plants produce blueish-purple to pinkish-purple flowers during the summer. Sage flowers have a small lip or opening. They are popular with bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. The flowers, much like their famous leaves, are edible. The flowers are said to have a fruity taste. They represent good health and wisdom.
3. Lilies
Next in line are lilies.
Lilies are large, colorful, six-petaled flowers with long and noticeable anthers. They are often bell-shaped. Lilies come in white, yellow, pink, red, and orange. Lilies can be safe to eat when properly cooked, but they are extremely poisonous to cats and can cause feline kidney failure. A type of white lilies called Calla Lilies are used often in funerals. Lilies represent purity, innocence, and rebirth.
4. Roses
Finally, we have roses.
Roses are round multipetaled flowers that grow on spikey thorn bushes. They come in red, pink, yellow, white, blue, orange, and black. White roses can be dyed different colors when watered with a mix of water and food coloring.
5. Rockroses
In their song The Rockrose and The Thistle, The Amazing Devil mention rockroses.
Rockroses, aka Cistus, are large, soft, and colorful flowering evergreen shrubs. They are tough and can withstand rain, strong winds, salt spray, and draught. They come in pink, rose, yellow, and white. Each blossom lasts for only one day and is naturally wrinkled. They prefer dry, sandy, and rocky climates in full sun. They have a warm and balsamic smell. They are non-toxic, edible, and can be used to treat stress and anxiety. Rockroses represent imminent death.
6. Thistles
Continuing from their song The Rockrose and the Thistle, thistles are spikey plants with purple puffs of flowers. They grow in average soil and prefer full sun. They are often considered a weed as they have an advanced root system that easily allows them to spread and grow. The spikes are irritants and can cause harm and rash. Some trimmed thistle leaves and peeled stems are edible. It is said that they taste like slightly sweetened celery. However, milk thistles can be considered toxic and may cause gastrointestinal distress. They are great for pollinators. They are tough and difficult to fully remove. Thistles represent overcoming adversity, protectiveness, good luck, and strength.
7. Buttercups
One of the lead singers, Joey Batey, plays a bard named Jaskier in Netflix's adaptation of The Witcher book series. Jaskier means buttercup in Polish.
8. Dandelions
Joey Batey's character Jaskier was renamed in The Witcher video games to Dandelion.
Dandelion flowers are yellow puffy flowers that can change and develop into balls of gray seeds. Dandelions are often considered weeds because their roots can break hard earth and can cause erosion. Dandelions can grow practically anywhere. The entire plant from roots to flower is edible and can be eaten cooked or raw. Undisturbed dandelions can live for up to 10 years. Dandelions represent rebirth, strength, power, good luck, success, and wishes.
