This is a sideblog where I post my writings. Mainly selfship drabbles and X reader content. The characters I do this with purely depend on whether or not I'm attracted to them.
In these posts, I will leave space for anyone to project themself onto the main character (i.e. making the main character gender-neutral, race ambigious, body neutral etc.) although I tend to lean towards vaguely masculine descriptors for my own sake.
I will likely also experiment with writing character headcanons! For this reason, I will leave my Asks open, in case you have a question, request or an idea for me. Keep in mind I have no obligation to respond to these, and will only do so if I want to go through with your request.
The contents of this blog may be subject to change, or being abandonded, depending on if I remember it exists or not. I might also post personal things if I feel like it.
Hello this is an ask for more Halsin headcanons pretty please š„¹
Some more romance centered headcanons are in order I think. So here's some small signs the bear is falling for you :P
- I think the first sign that he might like you a bit more than any other, is when he starts fuzzing a bit over you. Not in an overbearing way of course, but I'd say around the latter part of the Underdark he'll start checking for vitamin D deficiency for example, with the party having been away from the sun for a week at that point. Offer you fruits, throw in dried orange peels in your tea, maybe even check your gums for scurvy signs. If you'll let him get that close of course.
- If you're too hot, he'll offer his waterbottle. If you're too cold, he has at least three skins in his tent that he "wasn't really using anyway". And it's not even because he's too nervous to make his feelings known either, Halsin just prefers to feel it out first when he realises something might be brewing in his heart. How does it feel to care for you? When you smile because of him? How does it feel to touch you?
- That's also another thing. He gets a bit more eager to touch, or be close in general. Just a gentle hand to move you, or a helping hand if you're trying to navigate rubble and whatnot. Now if YOU'RE the one to offer touch though, he might slip up his otherwise stoic front he tries to keep up. If you ask for a hug or massage after a particularly gruesome day out, he'll practically beam at the opportunity. And by the gods that man can knead out any back problem, so you best ask for your own sake.
- Now, if you compliment any of these efforts, he might know for sure he has to ask for your company in the near future. Whether it's you mentioning how you like Halsin's tea the best, or that you feel a bit calmer and safe coming back to a camp he's been watching over all day, or whatever it might be. His pointed ears might just turn red and droop down, as he scrambles to choke out a small "of course" or "just doing what I can."
Halsin is the type to collect berries, fruits, herbs and roots, SWEARING he has a good use for them. That he can make up some mean jam or ointment. Thing is, these things take time to make regardless of how skilled you are, so this results in his tent just being a really good smelling hoarding situation. On the flipside though, that also means he always has JUST the thing for literally anything you ask for.
That pipe isnāt for tobacco, we know what itās for. Sometimes he turns some of his supply into tea as well, if the day has been particularly stressful. Heās of course also willing to share on those occasions, gods know you out of everyone might need it the most. He puts a HARD stop on the recreational use as soon as you enter the Shadowcursed Lands though, being high in there would be self sabotage.
Speaking of behaviour in the Shadowcursed Lands. I truly think the poor guy is afraid of ghosts and necromantic stuff in general. Not even outright zombies or liches or whatever, but the simple things. Things that go bump in the night, maybe even the dark itself at times. So one might imagine how tired he looks while travelling through the curse. Tired and nervous. Maybe thatās even how you got a little closer. One night it simply got too much, so he approached your tent to ask if it was okay he slept near you.
Halsin armchair diagnoses reader with social anxiety after yelling at Kagha (Halsin x GN!reader)
First drabble so be nice, give feedback if you feel so inclined :P
Word count: 1264
Summary: Halsin joins the team after returning to the Grove to smooth things out with the Kagha situation.
Possible TW: Yelling, references to death, Kagha.... lmk if I missed anything.
ā¦I had let the others shop around and catch their breath in the Emerald Grove, asking them to make the rounds and invite the refugees to the camp party later tonight. Karlach especially seemed eager to stay and boast to Dammon about our - if Iām privately honest, near death experience at the goblin camp. If I hadnāt shanked off Priestess Gut and fooled Ragzlin before we even let it be known we werenāt welcome, we wouldnāt have stood a chance at all. The reality of our day was much more apparent on Gale, for example. For as soon as we had snuck out, his legs practically gave under. And I felt comfortable leaving him on a chair near the gruel pot when we got back, letting the old ladies fuzz over him. Wyll also made it apparent he had a few people to talk to before we left, having of course made some closer connections in the time he had helped out in the grove. But my head was somewhere else. I had to find Halsin, the big druid we risked our limbs to get back. Moreover, I had to make sure Kagha didnāt sneak her way out of it. The grove nearly ran afoul of her influence, and my stomach had tangled up something nasty the moment I laid eyes on her. And from my very brief and bewildered first impression of the Archdruid, I would venture to say heād soon feel the same of her.Ā
As I jogged down the mossy stairs to the inner sanctum, I noticed that the unnerved, earthy smell of the ritual had faded since last I was here. Along with the unrest of the brambles hidden in the corners, that were otherwise getting ready to cover everyone in here away. Instead they had sprouted berries, flattening off against the shoreline. That boded well.Ā
Though as soon as I had decided that the plants looked calm, the leaves shook as Halsin roared down on Kagha. I stopped at the end of the stairs by pure instinct, staring wide-eyed towards the sound of a bear curvestomping a snake.
A lot of what was said was in Druidic. But with the humiliated bitterness smeared across Kaghaās face, and her easily interrupted sneers, it was clear that Halsin was reading her to absolute filth. I didnāt feel bad about the smile that snuck up on my lip as I lurked near a pillar, watching her get dismissed with a pointed finger towards the sanctumās stone door. She didnāt look convinced of Halsinās scolding in my opinion, even though I knew not what he had said. I didnāt expect her to respect him though, with how she had spoken of him while he wasnāt in earshot. As the scene broke up and Kagha had left with heavy steps though, I still hesitated. The Archdruid looked like he was almost shaking with anger, and with his size, something in the back of my mind warned me not to get too close. His figure had hunched over a little, huffing and puffing after all the yelling he had done. Still stoic as I remembered him back at the worg pens, but clearly shaken.Ā
I tried brushing myself off a little to work up the courage to approach, or at least get myself out of the small shock of seeing such an intense dispute, just in time for the Archdruid to lock eyes with me. The cold hard glare he had melted, giving way to⦠Worry, of some sort. He seemed a bit smaller all of a sudden, as he approached. I tried to gulp down my stutter before I tried to speak.
āIām.. sorry you had to see that, I didnāt mean to scare you. And Iām glad to see you in one piece. Did the others make it out with you?ā His voice was much more placid now, though still a bit rough from the yelling just before. I straightened my back and tried to appear more collected than I was. Not that it mattered, because my change in demeanour was met with a slightly pitying look from him.
āEveryone made it out thankfully, we found an unguarded back exist. And you? That looked⦠Intense.ā
āYes, well⦠I found it best to demote Kagha. Clearly she had lost her way. I hesitated to exile her outright for her deeds, I try to leave room for redemption where I can, butā¦ā
Watching his gaze waver to the ground in thought, I couldnāt help but try to earn back his eyes. I liked the colour. āA good quality to give second chances. I personally couldnāt stand her, but I canāt help but respect the decision.. It should be fine now anyway, now that youāre back again.ā
āHah.. About that, I wondered.ā
He walked a little closer, guiding me to face away from the circle with him, a giant warm hand carefully placed between my shoulderblades. I shifted, leaning into what was surely a secret. And he whispered.
āI plan on coming with you. If youāll allow me to. I owe you for saving my life, and I would like to repay you with my support and mentorship on your travels.ā
I looked up at him with half a raised eyebrow. There was more to this. As I heard it, he practically threw himself into Aradinās lot when hearing about where they were going, and now he suggested doing exactly the same with us, knowing we were going the same way. ā...Iām not dense, Archdruid. You have a drive beyond helping me.ā
He fell a bit mute at my response, his hand falling from my back. I failed to exactly read his expression, but I didnāt want him to take it as me declining his offer.
āThatās not to say youāre not welcome. I think I like you. But you should drop the secrecy early, thereās⦠Thereās enough of it. Iām sorta trying to work on that with the group at the moment-ā
I thought back to the little circus of people I labelled āmy groupā. Each new addition more colourful and unique than the last, and twice as suspicious of others. Thrice yet as stubborn. No one trusted anyone yet. Which was fair, of course, I was hardly any better. In fact I might have been the worst one on the matter. But within the last couple of days, where I had taken the accidental role of spokesperson or whatever, I also just had a feeling that a lack of communication would get in the way in the long run. I had a lot of worries like that, actually. I worried about the group dynamic, I worried about rations and navigation, I worried about being so deeply dependent on strangers⦠I was worried. And it made me paranoid. It made me afraid of people.
ā..You havenāt decided to be in the position that youāre in, I understand. Itās wise to keep the coast clear of uncertainty where you can.ā He said, as if he had read my mind. But I knew he hadnāt. I looked back up at him, giving him the same bewildered look he first saw me with, back in the goblin camp. He looked back at me with a soft understanding I wasnāt ready for at all.Ā
āI will be out of your way completely. And Iāll offer all the advice and knowledge that I have otherwise, and heal your wounds if needed⦠I just beg of you, let me come along. I will tell you my story on the way.ā
