had a fun convo with my friends about Alenna's role with Straw Hats last night while watching an episode of one piece where they collect fruit on an island for food after I was like "how tf do they know what they're eating isn't poisonous?"

She's a farmer and a biology dork so I said I can imagine after the Straw Hats rescue her from some pirates/Marines (I haven't decided yet), they're having dinner and she just looks at some vegetable/fruit Sanji's cooked and just goes "thank God you cooked this cuz if you ate it raw/undercooked it, you'd fuckin die lol"

And everyone just kinda goes "wait what" and she gives them a look and says something like "you guys know not everything is safe to eat, right?......right?" Only to cut to the crew sweating and avoiding eye contact and Alenna thinking "how the hell have y'all gotten so lucky to not have eaten something deadly good lord"

I'll probably still end up making tweaks to her design because it feels like it's missing something but here's Alenna (again lol)!

i should draw it at some point but I imagine Alenna having a Nausicaa-esque moment where the Strawhats are about to be attacked by some big beast but Alenna jumps in between and lets the beast nearly take her arm off to show that they don't mean it any harm and when they ask her later why she did something crazy like that she explains that animals don't just hurt others for fun and that it was clearly guarding something and they all look over and see the beast with a bunch of it's babies/it's pack and Alenna says something about how we're all part of nature whether we like it or not and finding our place in it leads to a better world for all
