Helping people to become social...
So my time with the BCS will be coming to an end in the next week and a half. It's been fun! Great to see the company embracing social media! I'm so happy that I could be the person to get them started and build their confidence.Â
Now I'm on the lookout for new companies that need my help with social media.
If you are looking for someone to help plan and implement your social media or simply looking for help and advice, get in touch via any of the following:
Twitter: @SelinaClark

or the good old fashioned email selina_clark at hotmail dot com (sorry don't want the spam bots finding me).

21 Day Challenge. No Phones in the Presence of others!
I read this blog post by Naomi Simson yesterday http://www.linkedin.com/today/post/article/20130205234619-1291685-the-21-day-challenge-no-phone-in-the-company-of-others?_mSplash=1 and it inspired me. I realised that I am one of those people who spends way too much time on their phone. I am a self confessed tech and social media addict! And as Naomi mentions in her post, how much do we miss around us because we are checking emails, texts and social media on our phones constantly?
Don't get me wrong I love being conected in such a tech savy world, having access to my emails and Facebook at the touch of a screen. Hell, it's my job! And I'm not complaining about that for a second! Many a time my friends have pointed out that I'm addicted to my phone and not focused on the conversation going on. My band even get annoyed because I'll have my head buried in my social media during practice. So today is the first day of my 21 Day Challenge. Like Naomi, I will try my very best for 21 full days to not look at my phone in the presence of others and give the people in the room my full attention. So let's see how this goes shall we...
Social media can seem like a scary thing to get involved in if you’re feeling a little late to the conversation…
The BCS are running a competition for your chance to win the app I mentioned yesterday in my blog post. Just follow the link for more details and how to enter for your chance to win a copy...
My time with KikStart for iPad...
I've been working with the BCS for almost 3 months now guiding them with their social media and promoting this great little app KikStart. An app that I've become very fond of, as I believe it is brilliant for people buying not so tech savvy friends and family an iPad. I mentioned KikStart in one of my first blog posts but if you want to learn more about it follow this link: KikStart for iPad It's been great to see the app getting some reviews coming back from bloggers, websites and feedback from people who have been using the app. KikStart is even finding itself in schools who have started using iPad in the classroom! I love that people are embracing new technology and I'm happy that I have been a part of promoting an app that helps people do just that! After thoroughly enjoying working with KikStart, I can honestly say that I'm even considering (when I've got the money) investing in an iPad for my technophobe mother and plan to install a copy of the app onto it for her. That way I won't have to sit through hours of trying to teach her to use it. I can leave that to KikStart! (I learnt my lesson the hard way about my mum and technology after trying to teach her to shop online for groceries but that's a whole other story!) If anyone is using KikStart or is thinking of it, come and have a chat over on Twitter, Facebook or even here! I would love too hear your thoughts and answer any questions you might have.
So a lot of you will be lucky enough to have gotten your hands on a shiny new iPad over the last few days or already know you want one for Christmas. But I know a lot of people who don't know or are scared of how to use their iPad properly. Not just that, there are a lot of you who would like to use one in the work place but because your company don't have time to officially train you to use it you're not allowed due to legal reasons. The BCS have created this brilliant app that can solve all those issues. KikStart for iPad. Its interactive way of teaching helps you quickly pick up the basics of iPad, tests you and gives you an official certificate at the end. Meaning you can use your iPad but that you can also use it in the workplace. I've spoken to a few people who have used it already and they now can't put their iPads down! If you need help with using your iPad or just need the certification to have one at work then head to the App Store... https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/kikstart/id563160401?mt=8
Actually really impressed by a plastic cup... Or should I say corn cup #simpleminds
Today I'm off to Swindon to start some Social Media work for the British Computing Society. I'll be getting involved in their new App, Kikstart for iPad. Very excited to be working with the BCS and can't wait to start "geeking out" about their Social Media. If you want to learn more about KikStart before I start posting it everywhere follow this link and become a pro at using your iPad... http://www.bcs.org/category/17219
New chalk wall design at the Foursquare HQ in Manhattan. Fat Denny’s is the name of our kitchen, named after CEO Dennis Crowley. 3 hours and 50 minutes cut down to 1 minute, 17 seconds. ~12 pieces of chalk.
LOVE this.

One of the most exciting parts about Photokina was seeing prototypes! Pentax showed off this alien looking camera that can to shoot 360 degrees!Â
‘It is a device consisting of two circular chambers, presumably with a coverage of 180 degree each, capable of generating a spherical image with a single shot.’
