Portia is incredibly underrated and gets shafted constantly by the fandom, like honestly try and go through her tag and actually find content for her route and her romance that does not involve your male faves.

About Asra and Julian’s Relationship

I’ve seen a few things about Julian and Asra’s relationship. And I’m really weirded out why people paint Asrian in a positive light. Yeah, I know, there’s probably some thirsty ‘ooh yaoi!’ people. But personally, Asrian makes me genuinely angry and horrified. At Asra. And yes, I can already hear people coming to defend Asra:

“Julian was in the wrong too!”, “He couldn’t take no for an answer!” “You’re just biased as a Julian stan”

Look, I’m not saying that Julian was perfectly innocent in the situation (is he perfectly innocent in any situation, really?). He couldn’t take no for an answer. He was pushy. And I’m not saying that Asra is a horrible person and should be burnt at the stake. I love Asra; he can be very kind, very loving, and is wonderful at making the MC confident in themselves.

But look at the scene we get in Asra’s route. Asra’s attitude towards Julian is sensual. He plays off of Julian’s masochistic tendencies. He -despite he himself saying OUT LOUD that he can’t give Julian a relationship, which he knew full well was what Julian was really after- still proceeds with a physical encounter (i.e. they fuck). He uses Julian as spell ingredients.

He used Julian as spell ingredients.

And I have to wonder how many times this happened. How many times did Julian come to see Asra, seeking affection, and what did he give in return? More blood? Hair? Flesh? We just don’t know. How far could it have gone?

In the end, Asra was just stringing Julian along to get what he needed, and to have a little fun on the side. He could have given a hard ‘no, Julian, we can’t be together’. Certainly not have pursued a physical relationship. Maybe he could’ve gotten assistance from Julian in the form of spell ingredients (by just asking), maybe not. But at least he wouldn’t have been using Julian. Because that’s really what it was. He was just using Julian. For a distraction from MC, for spell ingredients, for assistance, etc. And it makes my freakin skin crawl. Sweet, kind, supportive Asra was using someone.

Anyway, that’s my two cents. Just a reminder: I don’t hate Asra, I’m just really disgusted at the way he handled Julian’s unrequited affection.

This post???? This post right here is why I didn't like Muriel's route last update.

Let me add something because it also make me uncomfortable and I've been noticing it in various routes.

The way Asra jokes about Julian is not inclusive, but humiliating. From his commentaries about how Julian can't do magic (which is a lie, he just needed time and understanding) to how he mistakes the love compass for a regular compass, to the last "joke" we got, how Julian was a bad fugitive for being in the Rowdy Raven (and we all know Julian's relationship with alcohol and rowdy places is not healthy).

His jokes are not made so they have fun, but as a way to slap Julian in the face and humiliate him in front of others. It's s big, red flag in abusive relationships.

Judging by the dialogues in Julian's route, both by Asra and Julian himself, the later seems to have big problems thinking he deserves love and has a big tendency to break his relationships and punishing himself (I'm guessing it's a way to self harm, pretty much like starting fights, drinking and even his relationship with sex). He also has a tendency to please others, "to be whom others need him to be". Now, how does Asra help Julian overcome this? Feeding into his self-deprecating attitude, using him as an object and playing with his feeling.

After all of this, Julian still loves him, but he feels resented. He breaks into his shop at least twice looking for answers, and after some time he even says he's sorry for being selfish to him (????????????????).

And now they are together again in Muriel's route, or at least Julian feels like that, and it doesn't feel alright. It feels so unnatural and I can see so many red flags that I need an option to bring Julian with us, because he deserves way better. Someone he can heal with and helps him see the good in him instead of making things worse. And Asra doesn't seem to be that person now.

Exactly. All the points raised here are true; that is why whenever I discuss Asrian, it is under a twisted, disfunctional, manipulative light ONLY. To me, this is the typical borderline/narcissist pairing, where the borderline becomes dependent on the narcissist, because of the humiliation that gets thrown to him that makes him believe that even this kind of relationship is better than he deserves. And what does the narcissist gain out of this? An obedient “pet” and someone to constantly feed his ego by accepting the humiliation and thus making him feel like he’s better.
