♕ —- Evangeline was glad to have the alley cleaned up though the ice cream shop and Malkin’s were still closed for obvious reasons. Her day was filled with investigation paperwork that seemed to be unending and dealing with concert venues for the following year. And her head pounded from it all. She couldn’t even think straight as she rounded a corner only to find herself nearly colliding with another. Instinctively, she held out her hands to catch her balance and to help them. “I’m sorry,” she said before she could even think the better of it. “I didn’t see you. I wasn’t paying as much attention as I should.”

   “No, I don’t blame you. I’ve seen it a few times. You have every right to be cautious. I just wanted to make it clear..“ He was going to mention how he was happily married but he figured the ring spoke for itself. He waited for the bartender to acknowledge him. “At least we got a good amount of cleaning done. It’s amazing how so many have come out to help.” Arthur said before he looked over at her. “It’s a shame that it requires a tragedy for that to even happen.”

♕ —- Evangeline noticed the ring and couldn’t help but to feel a bit embarrassed by her reaction though, she would never admit to it. Instead, she focused on the conversation at hand and nodded out of agreement. “We did get a lot of cleaning done,” she said and took in a deep breath. She was never one to reveal what side she was on. It was dangerous to openly pick one or the other but deep down, she didn’t agree with murder. Especially of someone who was innocent. “Sometimes that’s what it takes to bring people together.”

Luxio had debated making a stop to buy flowers. He had debated bringing a gift. Truth was, he was thinking of so many different things but he didn’t want to push his luck too far and have her think that he had expectations or that he was just assuming things were going to go back to the way they used to be. He knew that Eva was hurt and she had every right to be. It didn’t matter that he had no choice as a teenager. It didn’t matter that he had been set up in this arrangement since before he went to Hogwarts. What mattered was he didn’t have the courage to say no. He didn’t have the strength to walk away back then. He was afraid and he was lost but now things were different. He had grown so much– at least he hopes. 

“I thought being on time was being late.” His smile hadn’t quite left him as he watched her for a brief second. She had grown– that was true but she hadn’t changed much. He could still get lost in her eyes the same way he used to when he was younger. He chuckled and reached to take the other full glass of water, taking a sip before he set it down again and licked his lips. “Good. I tried to get here early too but.. Shadow wouldn’t move.” Out of all the pets they had, Shadow was the only one that Luxio couldn’t leave behind. His black cat was his partner in crime in a lot of things and lately he had been the perfect company although he was ready to have a more social life than before.

♕ —- The all too familiar sense butterflies settled in as Eva looked across from her at him, sitting there with her. They had done things like this so many times before and she would have thought that the absence they had from each other would have made things awkward-- and there was a bit awkwardness mainly from her. But everything still felt normal and she knew that he was trying. If anyone knew how hard it was for her to let her guard down enough to even agree to something like this, it was Luxio, which made her feel a little more at ease. She never would have to apologize for how she was feeling or how she reacted to things. He understood.

♕ —- “It is late,” Eva quipped with ease and didn’t stop her smile from appearing on her lips. She let out a chuckle at his explanation and shrugged up her shoulders. “I guess I’ll allow it. I probably should try to let myself get on Shadow’s good side.” Her finger nail tapped against her glass. “I probably should mention that I mistakenly went into your ex’s shop the other day. I didn’t realize until I read her name tag. With everything going on in the alley, I was looking for a place to shop so I wouldn’t have to travel all the way to paris for clothes but I probably should have made that effort.”

   “Oh, no m’am. I’m not here to hit on you.” Arthur stated as he took a seat. The usually upbeat bloke was not feeling vey much like himself. With what had happened, he felt a sort of anger he couldn’t quite place. Negative feelings were never easy for him to deal with. Especially anger. Arthur ordered himself a drink, “I don’t mean to intrude on your space. I just didn’t see anywhere else open and I just.. really need a drink.” He had been helping where he could with what he could. He never understood the Pureblood ideology. To him, if a person was trying their best then what else could be expected of them?

♕ —- Evangeline looked over at the man who took a seat beside her and she held back her usual biting tone. She could tell that he wasn’t have a great day and that was understandable. The whole ordeal was a lot even for someone who has been helping with the case. “It’s alright, I probably shouldn’t have assumed,” she replied after a moment and rubbed the back of her neck. “It’s been a long day and more so than the whole tragedy that happened late last night.”

    “Whoa– whoa– I think you’re mistaken. I mean, you’re beautiful and all but that is not my intent here.” Sirius said as he put a hand up when the woman finally looked at him. He had a bit of reputation of flirting in school but he felt like he had gotten better over the years since graduating. “I was going to ask if the seat was taken just so I can get a drink and go. I didn’t want to just be rude and sit. I reckoned that would be the best option but then you just.. attacked me with your eyes? If looks could kill.. I’m sure I’d be dead.”

♕ —- “If looks could kill, 90 percent of my coworkers would be dead by now.” Evangeline lifted her drink to her lips and took a quick sip before she simply moved her bag out of the way. She figured that she could be nice and let the young man sit down. It wasn’t his fault that she was having a bad day. “No, it’s not taken,” she remarked with a shake of her head. “It’s been a rather tiring day.”

“ha ha ha. it’s not like yours are any better.” he says almost monotony. “you just assumed that you were being hit on.” he says bitterly rolling his eyes as he orders a quick drink from the bartender. “you were the one that was fucking rude first. i fear for whoever spends the rest of their miserable lives with you.” he says leaning his elbows on the counter and rubbed his forehead. he came here to get away from the hassle and all the work to revive his throbbing head, but he supposes that maybe coming to the leaky after everything has happened was probably not the best choice.

♕ —- Evangeline rested her chin on the tips of her fingers and she looked over at the other. She could tell that she had hit a nerve and the fact that he lashed back at her, only just made her want to push more. “Only children point out first slights,” she pointed out and she leaned back in her seat. “You may fear for whoever ends up with me, darling, but I’m not the one using crass language unnecessarily. I feel sorry whoever has to deal with that abuse on a daily basis.”

Ianthe took a step back, shooting a dirty look at the man that had pushed her towards the bar in his haste to get through the pub. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to give the wrong impression.” But it wasn’t really her fault, was it? That wasn’t fair, she reminded herself. “Except I’m not really sure what impression I gave, considering I just stood near you.”

♕ —- Evangeline glanced over and out of the corner of her eye to see the man rush past through the crowd. She looked back to the girl who had apologized and frowned a bit. “Are you okay,” she asked before her wand slipped into her fingers and sent a leg-locker curse to the rude gentleman. “It’s not you,” she simply said. “Just been dealing with a lot of misogynists today.”

Despite his urge to cock an eyebrow at the other, Bilius maintained both his eye contact and his composure. His gaze remained fixed on the other, unblinking, as she spoke, her attitude continuing to engulf the space surrounding them. Once she’d finished, Bilius pursed his lips, bobbing his head from side-to-side as if to consider what she’d said. Though, after a few moments, he shoo his head and turned back to her. “No, actually, I don’t think I will. Number one, here are no other free seats. Number two, I’m having a marvelous time right where I am.” Pausing, Bilius shook his head. “I realize this has been a challenging day. It has been for us all. Process your emotions however you see fit, but taking them out on others experiencing a similar state of mind does nothing productive. For anyone.” Shifting in his seat, he glanced down at the woman’s drink. “Buy you a drink? Seems like you could sure use another.”

♕ —- Evangeline didn’t want the lecture and she was fairly certain that her prickly reaction would have been enough of a hint that she simply wanted to be left alone. While others were being helpful and dealing with their own emotions, as the young man so kindly pointed out, she had spent the day working and deal with men who did their best to simply treat her like the secretary. There were more women in the office but it still felt like a men’s club. She brushed her hair off her shoulders and simply shook her head. “No, thank you,” she said flatly as she drummed her fingers against the glass of her drink. “I’m fine.”

     Luna had been helping with pick up the whole day. She didn’t have to but she felt like it was the right thing to do. At her core, she was a decent person who had just been pushed too much but she still cared. She cared so much. Luna had just leaned over to order a drink now that she was finished helping. She heard the woman’s voice and then looked around to see if there was a guy behind her before she glanced at the woman. “Um.. are you referring to me? I mean, you’re very beautiful and all but I was just trying to get a drink. I have the world’s worst headache.” She admitted as she waited for the bartender to return.

♕ —- Evangeline glanced at the other girl and would have felt bad for snapping if her pride would have let her. Instead, she removed her bag from the chair that it occupied and gently pushed it so the other had room to sit down. “It’s been a long day,” she admitted when her order had been delivered. “Just have her first drink on my tab,” she told the bartender and decided that was her way to apologize without actually having to admit any wrongdoing.

even for giacinto he didn’t like walking down these streets. usually he would go to the wyvern but he didn’t even want to be in knockturn right now. this was right about one of those times where he wished that maybe he wasn’t an aligned death eater. his cloak wrapped tightly around his neck and arms he was swift to grabbing the seat next to the girl at the bar mostly because it was just the only seat left open. he furrows his brows at her comment and tilts his head at her. “if i were to hit on you, i would have made it more abundantly clear, but right now is not the time and all i wanted was the damn seat that was open next to you, besides, you’re not my type.” he says bitterly pulling the chair a bit away from her as he sits down “as you can see, everyone seems to be camped out here right now.”

♕ —- “Oh, I wonder why,” Evangeline managed to move her bag-- her rather expensive bag-- from the chair that he took a seat on. She brushed off the front of the bag before she set it down on the bartop in front of her and accepted her drink that had been delivered. “I fear for whoever ends up the object of your affection. You’re manners are impeccable.”

The days events had left Bilius feeling just as heavy as it had most everyone else, and it seemed that the entire community (at least, those residing in the area) had all gleaned the same idea- drowning their sorrows in the beverages provided by the Leaky Cauldron. Weaving through the somber crowd, Bilius spotted an empty seat next to a woman who looked about as downtrodden as everyone else in the immediate vicinity. Sliding into the seat, he glanced her way, offering a, “Hello” though nothing more before she turned to him, spitting her cold greeting. “Did I look like I was planning to flirt with you? Let me know, if so, I’ll want to address that error immediately.” The wizard retorted coolly. “What do I want? I want a lot of things, you’re going to have to be more specific than that.”

♕ —- Evangeline rolled back her shoulders back and could feel her annoyance grow. She draped her arm over the back of the chair-- one of the few that were still available-- beside her and drummed her nails against the wood of it as she cut her eyes over at the young gentleman. “Oh, if you don’t want anything, then you can go find somewhere else to sit then,” she said and she flashed him her best smile. “But have fun looking for all those other things that you want.”

the  leaky  cauldron  was  usually  the  place  to  be  in  diagon  alley     ,     but  with  whatever  was  going  on     ,     streets  were  seeming  deserted     ,     only  cretins  and  those  not  afraid  were  lurking  the  streets  of  their  shopping  village     .     rita  categorised  herself  into  the  latter     ,     being  brought  up  as  a  slytherin     ,     she  was  raised  to  be  scared  of  nothing     ,     she  was  here  for  the  story     ,     it  was  her  name  that  had  broken  the  news  this  morning      ,      it  was  her  work  that  had  travelled  around     .     but  there  was  more  to  be  uncovered     ,     she  knew  there  was     .     “     as  pretty  as  you  might  be     ,     you  are  not  my  type     .     ”     the  reported  mused     ,      settling  next  to  the  woman     .     “     i  want  your  opinion  on  what’s  happening     .     ”     there  was  no  point  in  beating  around  the  bush     .

♕ —- Evangeline wanted to laugh but given the situation it wouldn’t be considered appropriate. She picked up her drink when it was delivered and she raised a brow as she looked over in the reporter’s direction. “There are different kinds of flirting, Miss Skeeter,” she commented and took a quick sip. “But I have no comment. The Minister should be here to say something. I’d suggest you get a good seat for that.”

♕ —- Saying it had been a long day would have been an understatement. A massive one. The ministry had all it’s aurors in the alley trying to clean up the mess that Evangeline could have told them was going to happen when they spent so much time sweeping everything under the rug. The magical world, once again, was a powdered keg and this was just going to the one of many explosions that was bound to happen. Stepping into the pub, she made her way to the bar top and ordered herself a drink. It wasn’t long before she was joined by another and her jaw set. “Do I really look like I want to be hit on right now,” she asked the stranger as she cut them with her green eyes. “What do you want?”

“You think so?” he mused, looking back down at the garment. Stolas placed it back, taking the shirt she handed him. The male held it up to his chest, glancing over at a mirror. “I mean.. if you’re right you’re right. I should have you pick my clothes all the time,” he stated as he pulled his eyes from his own image back to the girl. “Are you free to do some more shopping?”

♕ —- “If I’m right,” Evangeline chuckled as she watched the young man look over the option that she had presented to him. “I personally wouldn’t mind,” she said and looked to the bags that had just arrived for her. “I certainly don’t need an excuse to shop, might as well use my taste for someone else. But yes, I’m always free to shop. What do you need?”

“oh—” edgar says as he lets his hands swing to his side. he didn’t put two and two together until she had just said it. but she was also out of his life as soon as he started talking to luxio again. brows furrow in confusion as he shoves his hands in his pockets unsure what else to say. though he did still need to get his morning coffee. it’s ironic isn’t it how time plays out that way? “well, at least that was taken care of.” he says with a shrug as he shoves his hands in his pockets. why was he being this awkward? even when he popped into luxio’s life (literally) that was just as chaotic. but maybe there was something about eva that just made him feel off. he wasn’t quite sure what it was. “i still need to wake up a bit and grab a coffee, but i would love to catch up with you– if you have the time that is.” he offers a hand swaying towards the now long queue that he just left.

♕ —- Evangeline nodded as she tucked her wallet into her bag and made sure that the clasp was fully secure before she turned her attention back to Edgar. If she was honest, there was no reason for her to dislike Edgar. He was kind (something she was sometimes), charismatic in his own way, and certainly someone that many others had fun around. However, there was always a slight tension between the two. An underlying pressure that neither really spoke about but stemmed from the fact that they both cared for the same person. That alone would have had Eva looking for the nearest exit but instead she tapped her finger against the cup that she held and simply nodded. “I can wait for you to get your order,” she murmured. “I have the time to catch up.”
