Erik and Lyle Menendez are serving life sentences for killing their parents in 1989.

“On February 22, 50-year-old Joseph Lyle Menendez was transferred from Mule Creek State Prison in Ione, California to the Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility in San Diego, says Terry Thornton, deputy press secretary at the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.A February 14 message attributed to Lyle and posted on the brothers’ unverified Facebook page stated that after being separated for almost 22 years, the brothers would be reunited at Erik’s San Diego prison.

Thornton said that the brothers had asked to serve their sentences at the same facility previously, and it was determined at a classification hearing for Lyle earlier this month that “there was no reason that they could not be housed at the same institution.”

Thornton said it “remains to be seen,” however, whether the brothers will be permitted to see each other. “They’re in the same prison but they’re in different facilities, and any decision to house them in the same facility or same unit or same cell has not been made yet,” she said.”

She then asked Kat for a hug. Washoe, who had lost her own babies, appeared to be sympathetic and understanding toward Kat’s own pain and loss.

Desiree Gibbon (26) was a model from New York looking for new opportunities. On October 20, 2017, she traveled to Jamaica, where her father was from, to look for work that would help her raise money to go to film school in Europe. But those dreams never came to be: on November 26, 2017, she was found dead in some bushes in Anchovy, a small Jamaican town southwest of Montego Bay, where she was staying at her grandmother’s resort. She had been beaten and her throat had been slashed.

She had last been seen three nights before her body was found. Surveillance cameras at the resort show her leaving her room at around 11:27 pm carrying only her american phone, not her local phone or even her wallet. Her parents believe that she was lured out by someone she knew and trusted, because she was an experienced traveler and wouldn’t have wandered off late at night by herself without her things.

Her murder is still unsolved. According to Desiree’s uncle, local police were looking for two women they wanted to question.

Desiree’s american cellphone hasn’t been found, but her aunt in New York reported at the end of January 2018 that she’d received two calls from Desiree’s number. One at 5:26 pm, which she answered but was only met with silence, and another at 11:43, which she missed. But when she called back, the phone appeared out of service.

In a letter that could have been a bombshell at trial, a 15 year old Erik Menendez wrote to his cousin about his father. He wrote, “it’s still happening, Andy, but it’s worse for me now… I never know when it’s going to happen. It’s driving me crazy, every night I stay up thinking he might come in. I need to put it out of my mind. I know what you said before, but I am afraid.” The judge said the letter was not necessarily evidence of sexual abuse, and ruled it inadmissible.
