May I ask for your Opinion on the Yautjas sexual organs? I am interested in Xeno biology and love to hear other peoples opinion about such themes (btw sorry if i butchered the grammar i am from germany so its not my main language)
Oh my goodness this could become an EXTREMELY long post. I may have to actually make separate posts to go in-depth on the different takes on biological specifics. (Also not a problem, your English is quite good.)
Well to start there’s technically no confirmed ‘canon’ sexual organs. Merely different versions of their sexual dimorphism. For example, see this post with a discussion about the Perry’s Yautja vs. Dark Horse’s Hish-Qu-Ten, it talks more about the sexes than actual sexual organs though. It also goes into some spoilers/discussion for The Predator (2018), and a couple other biology tangents… But there is the main point of the two big takes on Female Yautja.
As far as the actual LOOK/Design of Yautja genitals the closest thing to canon is probably the sculpt for a scrapped scene in AVP (2004) where the hunters were going to come out of sleep/stasis pods/goo:
They clearly had the idea of having Yautja have a partial sheath/retractable penis. Which I think is a very good take. With most species they do have sheaths/retractable genitals in order to protect them. It seems though that their tip is still sticking out, which may not be good for sensitivity, much like how humans naturally have a foreskin to prevent any rubbing/numbing of sensations to the organ’s head. However that is a nit-pick and could be explained away other ways. It also seems they have a somewhat internal scrotum, most likely also to protect the organs.
As far as what the shaft actually looks like there’s a TON of fan takes on that. Everything from just like a human’s, to ridged, slightly knotted at the base, having tendrils, etc. There’s a million different variations to draw on. Almost every artist I’ve seen tackle them has a different take.
As far as my personal opinion goes I’m a fan of the retractable penis. I think it’s a more common thing in nature, and practical for a hunting species that might need the extra protection. As far as the actual shaft I think some kind of ridges suit the yautja, as both a pleasure thing & a biological one. As they’re a species that takes on multiple mates and goes through mating seasons. It may seem gross but the general purpose of say spikes or bumps in nature is to generally try and remove competing sperm from a female, and is usually found in species that take on multiple mates in a season. Since a female can only bare one male’s offspring (ignoring extreme outliers), there’s quite a bit of competition as to actually fertilising the egg.
So there’s a bit about the ‘canon’ takes, and a bit of my own rudimentary (but hopefully accurate based on my own learning via biology articles and documentaries) biology take on the Yautja. It’s definitely a topic that needs more exploring, and would be great to see some other in-depth takes on the topic. The whole mating season & practices would also be an interesting discussion, again with a wide array of takes/opinions. I hope that this basic look sort of satisfies the curiosity for now. I may make some posts on this topic and other biological theories later. Posts more built for discussion and theorising.
