In which Alejandro is baby money twice.
In case you've missed a week's worth of smoking policy discussion. Or want to know the middle name of our namesake.
She wasn't even at the meeting.
And it returns...

Here at Reed, we are a blessed lot.

This Week in Senate in 90 Seconds
What do you see?
The image I just posted can be interpreted in one of two ways.
Election petition deadlines were extended (again), and with it, the date for elections assembly postponed. The czars seem to have forgotten to tell Phys Plant about this change, judging by the empty stage and an SU full of neatly lined chairs.
The empty podium can be our collective sigh of apathy, or it can be an opportunity for a few brave souls among us to declare their intent to serve this community. Government is necessarily an impossible job, and the constant tradeoff between efficiency and due process is frustrating. Who would want to spend their limited time away from the books immersed in school politics?
Surprisingly, many do. For (almost) a hundred years, Reed has enjoyed a standard of student autonomy that is not usually seen in institutions of higher learning; an autonomy that is made possible by countless hours dedicated by students who do their job for little else than a love for Reed. I am proud to follow in their footsteps, and am fortunate to work with such dedicated and thoughtful people. As difficult as it, or perhaps because of it, being involved at Reed is a uniquely rewarding experience.
Yes, it is April o'clock, and we just want it to be Renn Fayre so we can all pour champagne on our laurel-ed friends. But I urge you all to consider stepping up to the podium, or asking that friend of yours who you know would be perfect for it. With more than half the spots on Senate, Honor Council and J-Board opening up at the end of this semester, we could use some timê-seeking Reed enthusiasts right about now.
All I'm asking is that you consider it. Srsly. Talk to your friend about it. Frrealz. Who knows, maybe we'll even have the Division of the Arts represented on Senate?
Election petitions are due 5pm Monday, details in SB Info. Honor Council and J-Board application details in The Quest.

More people show up as meeting progresses. Yay!
Brody: “student services staff outnumber students at senate meeting.” sad but true.

SUSPEND ALL THE BYLAWS
I want to go to Blue Like Jazz pre-world-premiere premiere tonight.
I also need to be at App Comm to hire peeps for things.
I know, I'll just motion to suspend the bylaws. I can't think of a more Reed-like solution to this problem :)
