                   Matsu sure was talented with animals ! He’d heard a bit about her skills from Toshiie, but seeing them in action was quite an experience. Katsuie couldn’t imagine keeping a bear as a pet, let alone giving him orders to follow. It was like Matsu and the bear were able to communicate, somehow. Once they reached the guest room, Katsuie took the seat that Matsu offered.

                    ❛❛ Right. As I was saying, we were sent here by Nobunaga-sama to rendezvous with the Maeda clan’s forces. The combined forces of the Oda and the Maeda were then supposed to proceed to the next battle. ❜❜ It was alright to tell Matsu this much, right ? Even if she wasn’t meant to hear the plan, she might’ve heard a few details about it from Toshiie anyways.

                    ❛❛ However…that plan was made on the assumption that Toshiie would be here to receive us. Since he is not, this section of the Oda army must do one of two things. We can reach out to another clan’s army to unite with us in the Maeda’s stead. Or…someone must lead the Maeda in Toshiie’s place. ❜❜ It was a difficult decision to make, and Katsuie was sorry that Matsu would have to decide. If she chose the first option, both Toshiie’s and the Maeda clan’s reputation would suffer. If she picked the second option, then she’d have to lead an army of soldiers possibly to their deaths.

                    ❛❛ Either way, the men of the Oda army will need a place to stay…at least temporarily. ❜❜

Taking the leadership role seems an efficient idea but it depends if Toshiie will get his butt here as he was needed mostly for the Oda clan over Matsu as she only lives her life as a housewife for him. Like her husband, she’s aware of what was going on at the Land of the Rising Sun whenever there are two clans clashing at each other, regardless of which area they at.

Katsuie had said two options as she needed to think about it, those were good suggestions that she can take. Keiji would be fitting the role but he’s too carefree and could have been doing things on his own, Toshiie was still busy fishing in a wrong time which Matsu had no other choice is for her to lead the soldiers to their deaths. 

Option A would be a good idea but it indeed makes their reputation go in a derailing manner. Option B was making her a leader to her own army. War is inevitable and so is death in the battlefield. The decisive thinking took her a lot of minutes to decide well.

“I will take the leadership in his stead if he doesn’t arrive on time. Like him, i am aware of what war looked like. If i can command my pet animals, surely i can command an army too.” She had experience on leading people to war, like how she leads her animals in battle prior to her own commands. Soldier commanding are similar to her animal connectivity after all. A reason to choose B as she was aware of what she lacks which is experience.

As she heard Katsuie needed a place to stay for temporarily along with the men of Oda, she thought of something.

“That it depends on how many room i can offer. If this place is fully occupied, can the rest of your men can sleep outside? Fear not, i will make my pets be on guard for any unwary trespasser.” On her pets, definitely fitting for patrols as long as her animals can do nightshift works.

New characters have been added to the Basara family! Kato Kiyomasa (cv: Eguchi Takuya) and Komatsu-hime (cv: Akenaya Himika)

They also released a commemorative logo and an illustration made by Makoto Tsuchibayashi, for the coming 15th anniversary of the game.

“Nobunaga said not to. Yoichi will take care of them, he said.” Toyohisa informs him while looking for an opening. And then finally, Toyohisa grins.

 “Yurimura, would you like to do the honors or should I?” He asked when he points at the Commander trying to regin the soldiers in but fails. Because of that the retreat and the raining arrows decrease their numbers, leaving a opening for two samurais.

“Because that commander’s head is mine!” He grins as he starts to jump down, ready to sprint.

“I see.” He understands now, whoever escapes dies in a grisly death by shadow and arrows. A cruel tactic that is effective to ensure nobody leaves alive. Guess he hoped Yoichi won’t screw it up then. But as thee commander failed to regroup it was indeed an opening. Since Toyohisa saw him first, Yukimura will get his, someday.

“He’s yours for the taking.” Patience is indeed a virtue for him. He never found any worth on that one to him, anyway. He watches the poor man dies in the other’s hand.

                    ❛❛ Is that so… ❜❜ What an unfortunate series of events ! As an Oda vanguard, Katsuie supposed he should have felt bad that he had missed Toshiie. However, as his former friend, Katsuie was somewhat reassured that he didn’t have to meet with him. The green samurai had been avoiding the other man for a while, now. Katsuie wasn’t sure what Toshiie’s feelings were on his failed rebellion, but they couldn’t be anything good. Maybe he was a coward, but he didn’t want to experience the fallout of his poor decisions a second time.

                    ❛❛ Understood. I will follow your lead. ❜❜ He didn’t know Matsu well, but given how Toshiie had talked about her, Katsuie trusted her judgment. It sounded as though she was at least as capable as Toshiie, if not more so. What was Toshiie doing in such a faraway place, anyways ? Did he miss his lord’s letter and get sidetracked somehow ? Sure, he was a bit eccentric, but he wasn’t anywhere as much of a wild child as Keiji. Katsuie followed Matsu inside the building.

“That can’t be helped.” Matsu sighed herself as it was indeed unfortunate event when Toshiie was needed here. Him and his love for fishing but can’t blame him for it. Sometimes he had to be away from Nobunaga.

A sincere nod coming from the wife of Maeda as they were heading inside the main castle in order to do things that her husband supposed to do. Goroumaru, her pet bear appeared unexpectedly as she gives the bear a task. “Please look over the whole place. I’ll be alright, Goroumaru.” It might be embarrassing but she had to as giving it a pat on its head as the bear patrols the area, following its master.

Now that Matsu and Katsuie now inside, the guest room might work to discuss things out. She offers a seat for the Oda samurai as she goes on the other side.

“Since it’s the two of us alone, please proceed.” It’s better that he should speak first about what to do. She’d wanted to serve him tea but now is not the time for it.

Maybe that’s what brought him back here. He wanted to say farewell. He did not expect to find the lord alive.

“So he wants vengeance for my death as he’d won people to his side? I see.” Knowing that Mitsuhide orchestrated Nobunaga’s death at Honnoji, it makes sense now. Not only for revenge but to take power as well. He learned a few from his lord’s books as he adores it.

“I wish to meet the monkey myself when he reached the last bastion.” He will be meeting with Hideyoshi indeed. “Lady Noh and Ranmaru will be aligning with you and your retainers in the defensive, if possible.” His orders for his wife and loyal retainer on aiding Mitsuhide in the defensive? Nohime disliked that but Ranmaru accepted it.

“I doubt anyone could forget you, my lord. People flocked to Hideyoshi since they thought he would avenge you, but if they learn you are alive, they will be overjoyed.”

They will probably be less overjoyed about Mitsuhide being given another chance, however.

He wondered… how would Hideyoshi react? Was his grief genuine, or did he see his lord’s “death” as an opportunity to grab power?

There were ways indeed on what one person will do after the lord has fallen. One is revenge and other is to take the mantle of power. Knowing that some might remember him, it is satisfying enough.

“Knowing that i was gone for too long, it may not be easy to reclaim their trust back to me.” He was aware of this since trust is not easy to gain. To Hideyoshi, Nobunaga would be a ghost right now. Now there is something in his mind that he needed to know about Hideyoshi’s plan for vengeance.

“And who exactly the monkey aiming his vengeance for?” This will be a good chance to reveal himself in the shadows.

Mitsuhide sighed. His lord was right. He should have thought about Tama…

“I will serve you, if you would have me. Fighting by your side is what I was meant for… not to be your enemy.”

And he knew there would be many battles to fight. 

“Good.” So Mitsuhide had made his choice to serve him once again for real this time. Nobunaga only nodded in yes. Nohime only sighs but she cared less anyhow.

“Now i will ask you this again, Mitsuhide. Are there anyone who had forgotten me? Ever since i have ‘died’?” For real, he’d wanted to know if there were others used to be on his side remembers him, now that he is now back to resume on where he had left.

“How could you take me back so easily?” Mitsuhide was torn. He didn’t expect that at all.

“I would deserve death for what I did.”

He knew Nobunaga could sometimes be forgiving, but he nearly killed him. And he certainly killed a lot of his men.

“Easily, you say? I enjoyed the battle that you and i had.” He still remembers it. Of course, he took his defensive battles seriously that even someone could be witnessing it. “You were victorious when the debris had fallen onto me as i walk away towards the flames.” Even if Mitsuhide deserved death by his hand, he’d let fate decide for that sentence. Only Fate alone will decide for it.

“If i kill you back then, what will happen to your daughter afterwards when she sees your corpse?” As he had eyes all over Honnoji, they came from his men.

“You would probably take over hell, so they are not that eager to have you there” Mitsuhide said. He could imagine Nobunaga ruling hell. The man certainly had what it takes.

“I could never replace you, Nobunaga-sama. I don’t have your ambition or your fire.” He sighed. “I didn’t rebel because I wanted to rule, and now I’m not sure it was a good idea at all. I convinced myself I had to stop you… and yet I’m happy you are alive.”

As honest as always, Mitsuhide was. To be replaced by anyone was actually not a good idea unless Nobunaga was permanently dead but this time he isn’t and now kicking. Nohime appeared next to her beloved but had nothing else to say asides from looking at the Akechi swordsman.

“You’re always the same kind and naive swordsman. I was expecting you to attack me wholefully since the burning Honnoji but you did not.” He only smirked but he’s welcoming the Akechi swordsman once again in a second chance. Nohime even respects his decision as well.

“I assume that you are not alone. There were others that used to be in my side, hm?” He might be expecting that Mitsuhide might have company as they were just scattered elsewhere.

Being summoned instead of traveling through the outrealm gates was foreign but not unwelcome. It had been some time since he fought real soldiers since peace came to Valm. Stumbling onto this one had been an additional benefit. 

“Not quite. I may fight like some of the mages but this place is as new to me as it is you. For now, you know the old saying. ‘the enemy of my enemy is my friend.’” Nobunaga sighed leaning back against a tree at their brief respite from attacks. A smirk on his lips sheathing his own blade to hold out a hand for her. 

“My name is Nobunaga, Emperor of Valm. Who might you be?”

Nobunaga, the name is very familiar as that name belonged to Oda known for the moniker of ‘Demon King’ but seems anyone can be named as Nobunaga so Kai decided to disregard the memory of that one. The outrealm gates surely had its own charm and misfortune sometimes. Did she held his hand? Yes she did.

Pretty much what he said especially ‘the enemy of my enemy is my friend’ she also had to accept that as well since they will have to work together. As she heard his name in introduction, she’d also do the same as well.

“Name’s Kai. Just a female warrior serving under the banner of Toyotomi. Nice to meet you.” So he was an emperor. Much like the highest rank in his realm, which in her terms, a daimyo which might function like that in her realm. 

“Guess we have to work together until we find the answers to these random attacks on us and as well, finding a way home.” Knowing who sent these people and as well, back to their own worlds if possible. If living a mercenary life in this world if a must then it’s a must.

                   Katsuie paused for a bit, waiting for one of his superiors to explain, but no one did. Now that he glanced around at his troops, he didn’t see any of his superiors in sight. Had his small group been the first to reach Maeda territory ? Then he had no choice but to speak up himself.

                    ❛❛ We were sent here by Nobunaga-sama to rendezvous with the Maeda clan’s forces. Is Maeda Toshiie here, or… ? ❜❜ What would they do if Toshiie wasn’t here and they had arrived ahead of schedule ? Katsuie’s men needed to stay somewhere. Proper lodging would be preferable, but they could camp out somewhere if necessary.

So this means Toshiie forgot that there was a skirmish or something unknown from Nobunaga which is why Katsuie and his unit are here in their home. Knowing the Demon King, he is one merciless conqueror. Something Matsu worrying about that shudders her.

In fact, she even had no idea what was going on so she’ll disregard that.

“My husband was away fishing and he might come home for a week knowing that he went further here that my pet hawk won’t reach him.” If he ever comes home, he’s a dead man to her and not playing around but now back on what Katsuie brings here, it’s best for her to take his place on whatever he was supposed to do.

“Anyhow, i will take his place on whatever Lord Nobunaga entrusted to him. Best if we talk about this inside to know the details and all.” Matsu decided to take them to somewhere private to discuss things out.
