Casper: Whaaaat? No! Girls are gross!...Well Marley’s not gross but she’s my friend I don’t wanna kiss her!

Marley: Yeah what he said! I don’t like him like him! He’s nice though. Sometimes. Only sometimes.

Nathan: ...Those two are literally seven and nine years old. Don’t get ahead of yourself, we don’t need them thinking they need something THIS early.

Why did you kids go to the mountain?

...

A difficult question for all of them in some form or another. There was only one question that could’ve been asked that’d be more awkward to answer than this.

Luckily, a few had innocuous enough reasons.

Jamie: So I was going to this big fancy boarding school, and honestly, it was suffocating! I mean geez, I tried to keep going with it but I felt like I was going to die. They never let us go out anywhere! So I miiiiight’ve taken a field trip of my own to study the flora and fauna on the mountain. And I might’ve tried to examine a hole I found. And...uh...that...wasn’t the best decision I’ve ever made in my life.

Nathan: Was on a camping trip and thought I heard a coyote. Really, I didn’t want to be up there anyway with the legends and all. But I just wanted to make sure the people with me were safe...Lantern went out and I couldn’t find my way back. Guess I shouldn’t have gone out at night.

Wyatt: Kinda like Nathan’s I guess. Was on a hunting trip, got spooked, and fell flat into the mountain.

Casper: WELL there were some kids on my street and they were being super super mean to me an’ they beat me up before I could beat them up and kept tellin’ me I was a wimp an’ so I said I WASN’T a wimp and that I’d prove it to ‘em and so I said I’d go up the mountain an’ come back down again an’ I left a note ‘cause Alex--not my papa but the guy who was takin’ care of me--had gone off to make some deal with some mean people an’ said he wouldn’t be back for a long time. Thought I’d be back before he got home.

Aspen: ...I could never make them happy. I just...needed air...I-I couldn’t face them...

Marley: ...I had to find my sister.
