I kinda lean hard towards the "he was alwys bitter & had repressed anger"angle of his pre-accident characterization but I also like to think post-accident, especially towards the beginning, he had lots of "square glasses thoughts" aka doubts, insecurity, worries. Idk it balances his metamorphosis so nicely.

I am a lil melancholic abt it but the Penguin show is truly kinda failing to grasp me.

To me it works visually incredibly well, whoever's behind the cinematography & composition & editing, thats some good work. I love the contrast of the during day shots having this bleached, worn out feel, and the night scenes (+ some other scenes shot in dark areas) having these vibrant, rich colors, giving Gotham a rly good shadowy feel

Its just weird when Im watching this I can feel like... i feel like im looking at a moodboard made from prestige shows the creators liked. Which in itself isnt IMMEDIATELY bad, taking inspiration is GOOD, but theres just smth abt it. I also feel like they take. Like

They're like embarrassed to admit this is a batman spinoff show? Which, is a neutral thing, but there's these small bits where the source material bleeds through and those moments feel a lil silly in the middle of the rest of it. Idk. I kinda wish they went a lil campier w the overall energy (design, some story points) - but pushed the emotional complexity even more to create that fun contrast where it is a lil silly but you dont mind it bc the characters so earnestly are trying to live in that world and tackle it w what they have. We have a lot of that, I rly like Vic, him struggling w trauma, but idk i just. Idk how to explain it.

Also idk if they do get to this at some point but i wish the aspect of doing crime in a city w a dude in a bat costume was more acnowledged. Idk. Hello. I wanna know abt ur bat precautions.
