working with a reflection image, plus profesh images that are in no way the same angle as the ref image of our drivers made me want to rip my hair out lmao i honestly debated about 20 mins in to just give up bc it seemed like it wasn't going to mesh in well. but i pulled through by adding motion blur + some additional overlay lighting/grain/speckles (i hope)

oscar piastri is a lowkey journalist for all things f1—started his career on the sidelines doing basic articles and content creation at the very few races he got to attend (at his own expense). over the years, he's slowly progressed into driver interviews and attending conferences at every race.
and then comes the fantastic opportunity to interview the wdc lando norris, post abu dhabi 2025.
and yeah, oscar thinks lando's fit. so of course lando is his favourite driver.
but in no way does he let that show for the sake of professionalism.
oscar's a breath of fresh air compared to other interviewers + journalists in the paddock. it snatches mclaren's attention for some post season content in early 2026.
and heck oscar is just SO fucking good at his job and both drivers are so comfortable with him (despite oscar heart palpitating whenever he's within a metre distance from lando—to the point he's should actually consider going to a doctor lmao).
oscar and the drivers mesh so well that mclaren want him to be the only one present for their interviews and content.
the job presents lots of opportunities very few would ever get access too. and of course, it comes with the unintentional benefit of spending a lot of time with lando both in the paddock + outside of it.
....and getting to know a side of lando that oscar never realised existed.
and oscar thinks it’s just a proximity crush at first. that it’s something that’s formed up because he’s spent the last 3 months travelling with the mclaren team. he's had approximately 6 days without hanging out with lando—not that oscar ever wanted a day away from lando, however.
and so it continues. more content. more interviews. and in every interview—lando's smirks get cheekier, get wider. and the blush on oscar's cheeks get harder to hide, to pretend that it’s meaningless.
then the realisation hits when he watches lando's second consecutive home win at silverstone.
oscar’s in love with him.
and oscar just can't bloody believe that lando tells him he feels the exact same way halfway one night when they’re in their hotel bar after a gp weekend.
and so they act on it immediately. because it’s been months of yearning, months of dancing around each other for no reason at all. and they don’t want to waste anymore time.
and so comes the close friends stories to their inner circle of friends. keeping the relationship private for just them—for the time being.
and despite it being private, it is full of love and life. they continue their careers side by side, them travelling together for race weekends and enjoying the fact their schedules are always perfectly aligned due to the nature of their work.
oh, and oscar believes the wag life is pretty good, actually.
and the end of the year comes. oscar interviews him again when lando wins wdc for the second year in a row.
2027 comes and oh— during post season, there's a landolog that reveals that they've been dating for months. it's an intimate interview, and of course oscar knew how to execute it perfectly.
and it's funny—because now you look back on previous interviews, previous interactions from the entirety of 2026. and you realise their love for each other has been right under your nose this entire time.
their close friends story doesn’t become a thing of the past, however, still being used actively within their inner circle. but they reserve their public stories for a cute post every now and again, especially post race weekends.
the next season comes and the norm continues—the races, the interviews, the travelling, the copious amounts of bliss they both feel when they wake up next to one another on a day to day basis.
all because how fucking lucky are they that their dream jobs aligned for them to both find one another.
