So. Hi.
So it has been half a decade BUT I remembered that A) This blog existed B) My password :’)
So hello everyone it has been a while! How y’all doing.
I probably won’t be. Active. All that much. I have a full time job now and multiple fur-babies to look after. But I’ll be here sometimes! How about that.
Broken In

Shadow appreciated the quiet; he wasn’t in the mood to talk anymore. Tired and in pain. If he was more awake, he’d probably mind being held more, but this…wasn’t so bad, really. The gentle, warm hum of Yellow’s body was, oddly enough, sort of soothing. Helped distract him a little from his smashed ankle.
Yawn. He’s sleepy…
His head tilts forwards, and Shadow starts softly snoring.
He’s... Asleep?
Yellow stops for a moment, making sure that the snoring sound is normal, that it’s a thing organics do... It’s not because he’s hurt, is it?
But... It seems normal. It’s not coming from his leg, after all. Yellow will have to trust that it’s a normal noise. He really has to put more trust in Shadow in general. He’s not as fragile as the android thinks he might be.
So on he goes again, ready to take the hedgehog home so that he can rest and recover.
hc fire
Yellow has very little experience with fire. He’s not even aware that touching it hurts. He’s really only seen it in controlled settings, like in fireplaces and the like.

hc light?
While many of his ‘brothers’ might be indifferent to light, or actively avoid it due to sensitive eyesight, Yellow actively seeks the light and warmth of the sun. Probably not so good when he’s supposed to be hiding

If Yellow could change his outer looks to be any mobian animal he’d be a cat. Or maybe a bee? A cat with bee wings, probably-

Despite being made of metal, Yellow is warm to the touch. It’s like when a laptops been on for a while and you touch it, it’s warm. He’d probably be nice, if a little pointy, to hug on a cold day

There are upsides and downsides to having a…a friend (still not used to using that word) like Yellow. Not being left alone, and, also, not being left alone. He really could do this on his own…
But Yellow’s right, it’s unnecessary. He’s stifling yawns and already being held. Might as well just get it over with.
“…Alright, go ahead.“
There’s a purr like noise of encouragement and glee, both congratulating Shadow on finally accepting help, and maybe kind of gloating that he won this battle of wills, even if only by a small margin.
He’s silent, after that, other than the gentle hum of mechanical internals. He doesn’t want to be annoying, he’s already overstepped his boundaries. He really just wants to get Shadow home.

Shadow was quiet for a moment. That wasn’t exactly wrong. He was worn down, and his ankle was pretty badly broken.
But he’s the ultimate lifeform. He’d gotten partway home on his own. If he had to- and usually he does, being alone- he could do the rest of the way too.
“I’m strong enough that I shouldn’t.“
Yellow hums at that, a low tone that seems to show his distaste at what Shadow just said.
“But h-help makes it easier, ri-right? Even if... If you c-can. You shouldn’t h-have to?”

The spasm of pain ended, and Shadow relaxed a little- or stopped tensing up from pain, at least.
Shadow looks up at him, a bit thrown off. Sorry, you what?
“Uh- Put me down; my leg’s not that bad-”
Sheesh, Shadow, by whose standards? He’s almost forgotten that he asked Yellow not to touch him-
“I’m n-not.”
Shadow says his leg isn’t that bad, but Yellow has his doubts. After all, picking him up just made him hurt like that, and his leg wasn’t even on the ground anymore.
“You n-need the help.”

Why is Yellow going towards him? “What are you doi-!?“
And up Shadow goes almost flailing in Yellow’s arms. He struggles, not expecting it, but the movement jostles his hurt leg.
He makes an involuntary sound of pain and partially curls up, his ears laying back. “Hhn- Y-Yellow, what-“
Ah?! He freezes as Shadow makes a noise, instantly regretting his actions, Oh god he’s hurt him, he’s hurt him and now he’s going to DIE because Yellow was stupid and did a stupid thing!
“A-Ahh! I was go-gonna... Ca-carry you home! Yes! Th-that’s right!”

It’s bleeding onto the cloth cuff on his shoe, matting his fur, and the ankle’s bent at a funny angle. Not so good.
Really, though, all Shadow can think is that he’s had worse.
“No,“ he acknowledged calmly. “But it will go back to normal, over time.“
His weight shifted slightly and pain zinged up his leg. He winced, hissing.
“I was…going home to rest it.“ See, he is doing something about it, Yellow. Uh, kinda.
“You... Can’t wa-walk on that.”
He should know. He’s had bits and pieces disconnect before, left him with a useless leg. But the blue one in handy, and knows how to fix things... Can’t even tell it was ever mafunctioning, really.
But he knows how hard it was to walk like that, and his didn’t even hurt like Shadow’s does. He really can’t expect the hedgehog to walk home like that... Luckily for Shadow, the android knows where he lives!
“But ye-yes! Home is... Home is g-good!”
He kind of... Forgets to ask, before attempting to pick Shadow up. He can’t walk? No problem! Just carry him!

Shadow twitched at Yellow’s sudden appearance and noises. Guh. At least he wasn’t tackled this time. Going home almost seemed like a signal for the android to appear, now.
It didn’t take a genius to figure out why Yellow was distressed.
“Calm down, its fine.” Him tired. “Was an accident. Nothing attacked me. I’ll heal.”
“It duh-doesn’t usually.... Work like th-that.”
Shadow told him to calm, so he’ll certainly try... But he doesn’t like how that leg looks. He’s not an idiot (well, not all of the time), and he can tell that’s not a regular thing for Shadow.
Calmer, now, not making noise, but giving Shadow a look that can only be described as ‘dude, really?’, he bends down to get a better look at what’s going on with that leg.
Hm.
Don’t like that.
Broken In
Shadow limped heavily down the lower path, his bleeding ankle dragging behind him.
He’d been twitchy about automatic doors for months now, thinking they would close too soon. Just as he’s starting to get past that, guess what happens? Twin doors at the store slam shut on his ankle. From the pain, it was probably broken.
The cashier had been terrified and tried to call an ambulance, but Shadow had left, merely annoyed by this. In a few days, it would be back to normal.
He trudged forwards, eyes half open. Tired. That was the drawback to healing as quickly as he did…it drained him. A meal and some rest…but he has to get home first. Ugh.
He hadn’t really been meaning to find Shadow today. After all, not every day is a day where he goes on a hunt for his friend. But he’d found him anyway, from the looks of things!
And it was a good thing, too! Because Shadow’s leg didn’t usually drag along the floor like that. In fact, organics legs didn’t usually drag like that in general.
So over he bounds, letting out a few shrill beeps of confusion and distress. What happened?! Why isn’t the leg working right?

And Yellow’s hand slipped away, his warmth with it. Shadow paused in his steps, but let Yellow go. Might accidentally hurt him if he tried to pull him back. And he had no- he had no practical reason to keep hanging on.
At the stairs, not at the door like last time- well, that made sense. Yellow had already said he wasn’t intending to stay. That was fine.
(He had gotten attached to Yellow oddly fast-)
Shadow took one step towards the stairs before stopping again.
“Goodbye, Yellow.”
“Buh-bye, Shadow!”
Chipper as usual, giving one final wave before he takes off, heading off to wander the city some more before he went home.

The walk went peacefully. Shadow ended up giving up on talking. Instead he silently listened to Yellow’s odd humming. There didn’t seem to be much point to it, but Yellow looked like he was enjoying himself. Even with the cold, then, it was fine.
They rounded a last corner, and the stairs of his apartment building came into view. Well. He’ll be warm again. Warm besides his hand in Yellow’s. He should be glad.
He glanced at Yellow again.
“It was…nice to see you.” He said this quietly. Shadow doesn’t express any affection loudly.
“It was... N-nice to see you, too!”
There’s something about Shadow’s tone that makes him feel... Strange. Is he sad that Yellow is going? The android couldn’t imagine why. After all... That was what he weas supposed to do, right? Walk home with Shadow to help keep him warm.
And. Well. He was home, now. Or almost there, at least.
He hesitantly slips his hand out of Shadow’s, knowing that the hedgehog needs to actually go home...
