The first day
There was a reason for the existence of a small line in front the next coffee machine and none in front of the one the new intern got his coffee from, just like there was a reason for the teehee between sips and low small talk around the office lounge. Dongho was one of those trying not to laugh at the poor kid.
There was also a policy about not being too nice or helping out too much the newcomers to induce proactivity and productivity towards adaptation at their new workplace, but in Dongho perspective this is such a dull thing to do.
He’d like someone to be nice to him on his first day of work, a few years ago. So he grabbed a spare cup of coffee at the good machine and let it in front of the new intern before walking out on his way back to his desk.
After that coffee charity act, the rest of his first day wasn’t that bad.
Making a quick search on the company intranet Seojun found out that Kim Dongho sunbaenim, as he read on the nametag with a smiling picture, stays at the fourth cubicle on the fifth roll. When Seojun had to get up and look for the paper punches on the supply closed he made sure to stick a bright yellow post-it note on the cubicle wall reading “thanks for the good coffee tip, sunbaenim :) fighting!” - it was a very cheesy note, but cheesy gets you places sometimes.
Supervisor nim constantly called him to make sure he’s doing his job properly. Seojun soon found out that the phone ringtone is extremely annoying the sharp ring ring ring startling him every single time. Last time it happened he was typing something on a document and the phrase ended up like:
Boost the number of sales and cut down production expenia´~dç

♕ ┅ It may have been rude, but the first thing he did was laugh. Eseo had rememebred countless times when his own pants were not zipped up because of how sluggish he was in the mornings. To see a man who was in the same boat, he thought he would just try and give him the hint somehow… but he supposed it was kind of awkward, rude, and… well, gross to just stare.
Eseo shrugged with a smile, swinging himself over next to him and says, “You don’t have to apologize, I just thought I’d help you if you’re tryna look good for someone, preferably a lady,” he joked.
But perhaps this was just another way to make conversation. “And I know next time you’ll triple check before you even leave the house.”
As the laughing ringed though his ears, Seojun pushed the phone against his own face in an attempt to hide behind his hand. Oh God, this was not the way he planned to start the day. He should get to work, xerox some documents, file some other documents, fiddle with Excel and ultimately get buried under paperwork while running the whole day just on bad cold day old coffee. Instead, he’s being laughed at.
“I don’t know what happened.” Men of the Park family tend to grow red on the tip of the ears on embarrassing situations. Needless to say, Seojun’s ear was flaming red. He breathes in, trying to keep it cool and failing miserably, finally mastering the courage to look up to the other man. “But thanks for the help, I’m going to my workplace... Imagine what-- Oh my god.” Maybe it was the panic wearing off, but Seojun laughed too, a little. “You saved my day.”

at the office
Giddy is not the word but excited is not quite the word either. Seojun can’t tell exactly what he is feeling about his first day of work - excuse me, as an intern. His first step into complete adulthood. According to his plan, Seojun recaps adjusting his glasses as the elevator goes up, he can start saving up money for his future. Apartment, furniture, bank account, invest in real estate.
He is the younger on inside the elevator and the department supervisor is instructing him on how to greet his co-workers. Seojun should be brief, state that he is there to learn and help pretty much reinforcing the pre-memorized speech he's been practicing for days now. He briefly checks his badge ID photo again, because he looks like he is about to sneeze on the picture. Hopefully, he can change that in the future.
The elevator dinged, Seojun's stomach dropped and the supervisor marched inside the room calling for everyone's attention by tapping her pen on the door.
Seojun breathed in the courage to start his speech.
"This is Park Seojun" -- The supervisor interrupts, making Seonjun choke on his words, coughing discreetly. "He is the new intern. Don't hesitate to call him if you need anything, Seojun sshi is good with computers too so that can save us some time with the I.T department." Supervisor rolled her eyes with the implied message that I.T people are the worst. "Please get along. Seojun sshi, work hard. Your cubicle is right there." and just like that, the supervisor marched out of the room with the same efficiency as she walked in, leaving a lost newcomer standing by the door looking back at all the people staring at him.
Quickly bowing down Seojun removed himself to his cubicle, ending his big entrance with majestic failure.
One of his co-workers, his cubicle neighbor, introduced him to the mechanics nitty-gritty stuff (she was way more approachable than the supervisor nim) and in no time Seojun is typing away, updating phone numbers of their client list, checking for pendant feedbacks from suppliers, printing tons and tons of paper and having his first cold office coffee.
"Oh God" The intern covers his mouth, gargling the coffee in terror. "This is terrible!" He shakes his shoulders. Now the taste of dirty dishes is never getting out of his mouth.

at the subway
Seojun is one of the many men wearing crispy white social shirts with a variation of black or deep blue neckties. It’s like an office worker mass production factory, all of the standing up on the subway, one hand hanging on the iron bar and the other holding the smartphone.
His glasses slide down his nose inch by inch, but Seojun doesn’t seem to mind. He is replying to some emails his supervisor sent him regarding all the paperwork he’s going to face today and how one of the printers is not working properly (”please deal with that, Seojun sshi, I’m counting on you!”) and he lifts his eye from the phone for a brief second to adjust his glasses when he sees the person if front of him just staring. At his pants.
Subway pervert!
Is the first thing he thinks - feeling violated!, but Seojun looks down too. His fly is open. “Oh my god.” When did that happen?! He quickly zips the thing up, now looking petrified. “Oh my g--I’m so sorry.”
