hey look, it’s seokyung yoo! they’re twenty-two years old, they’ve lived in shrike heights for fifteen years, and they’re currently working at snapshot. i heard she’s pretty blunt, but i think she’s so passionate at the same time. can they make it out alive?
Seokyung’s parents moved into town when she was seven years old. They’ve moved around quite a bit before that, and the girl, who was the youngest of four, had never met security and stability until then. Unfortunately, they didn’t find it in Shrike. Given that their parents were very poor, Seokyung would be raised by her sisters for the first years of her life. The other girls, however, soon found jobs of their own, and left Seok to fend for herself. And she did, by becoming a troublemaker.
Seokyung fought in school a lot. She found solace in the pain that it brought her to lose a fight, and courage in the moments she had the strength to win. She would fight boys older and bigger than her, mostly being the one provoking, and sometimes would get wrecked, sometimes would destroy them. The school called her parents in and gave her detentions and suspensions many times, but it never seemed to work. Her parents wouldn’t show up most of the times, being replaces by an older sister, and she wasn’t scared of spending a couple of hours doing nothing in detention. It was hopeless.
That was, until a teacher decided to put her anger issues and adrenaline seeking tendencies to good use, and told her to visit the local gym to learn to fight. She was about fifteen when she started, and on the same year, she was competing in small tournaments around town. And winning enough to make a little money off it.
Although normally very impulsive, Seok managed to save the money she won until graduating high school, when she got a real job and used the saved money to rent a small apartment, and that’s what her life has been ever since. Her job, boxing in tournaments, and saving up money to buy some place to live one day.
She hasn’t spoken with anyone in her family since she moved out. They’ve seen them around, sure, but never had the courage to approach them. Their neglect still hurts too much, and the fact that no one of them called or tried to get back in touch with her ever since is like salt on open wound.
