Air raid siren over Belfast at 2am

Last night from 2 til after 3am we heard an air raid siren over Belfast. (I wanna say cause that's the closest thing we could liken it to) it was very loud and we couldn't figure out which direction it was coming from, almost seemed to come from all directions at once. We usually hear mechanical type noises etc from the docks nearby and most of the time just put the strange sounds down to that but we've never heard that siren and especially not at 2am. We did the obligatory internet searches at the crack of dawn and came up with not much, probably due to lack of sleep and being weirded out. It's happened before with various sounds and there's never much explanation behind them, just wondered if anyone can shed some light on the situation? It's intriguing to say the least, we joked about needing to rush to safety but ye never know in this day and age lol! Interesting time though, we were like the Scooby gang trying to find the source of the sound.
