What I love about every photo I take here is that it holds a story. After buying probably more fruit than anyone ever has from the woman who owned this stall, I smiled at her with my heart and said “nani, nani” which means thankyou. She beamed, toothless, reached over, hugged me, “nani, nani, oh, namaste” and handed me three candies. The love and nuances in her gesture spoke more than any language either of us could speak. She had almost nothing, and everything to give. Maybe she did have everything, and maybe it is, devoid of love and connection and generosity of spirit instead filling our lives with things- us who have nothing instead. (at India)
