Two grown ass women 🤦

genesis!
two heavens
spiky!
it was an idea....
i do love how sephiroth in the flashback has been fleshed out since the original, but i also do adore original flashback sephiroth's coldness. i mostly saw the coldness as social ineptitude, not that sephiroth was just being a hard ass for no reason. i think it's because she genuinely couldn't navigate social situations the way everyone else could which is... not surprising given her upbringing.
country girl....
sketch! fangs and glasses :)
Do you dream of me?
(i refrain from posting my thoughts anymore because fandom has gradually gotten scarier and more anxiety inducing to post in but i'm gonna be a big girl and power through it.)
this is just a self indulgent, for-the-record type of post. i'm someone who doesn't have a lot of headcanons (which is a stark contrast from the last fandom i was in, glorified sandbox and all) but when it comes to like. sephiroth's gender. on my blog, i do see her as trans, close to transfem, but i'm not cemented on the label for her. i put it on my page because i don't want anyone thinking i draw her cisgender or that i see her as such lol
i personally interchangeably use he and she pronouns for sephiroth, as well as gendered terms in general, so i guess it would be more accurate to say i see her as gender-fluid. it makes the most sense to be honest. for me, i feel like putting her in a box just doesn't feel right at all. i always saw her "creating a new body for herself" (as it's said in the ultimania) as like, shedding any and all confines. i don't think labels can fully encompass what's going on with her, gender-wise.
i say she's trans because she's also just not cisgender, there's something going on there that the term cisgender just cannot be applied to her, in my head at least. so i consider this the one headcanon i have for sephiroth, otherwise i don't have any. like i can't think of one. and also i feel like a valid and more interesting interpretation of sephiroth's entire story and goal is seeing it as a transgender metaphor, there's been two people off the top of my head who have talked about this and like. published it!! and i prefer to keep my company with those who share this interpretation too, because of the layers of complexity it adds, and since all i ever want to do is talk about her complexity, it makes the fandom experience enjoyable for me :')
but gender and my relationship to it is just as complicated as explaining how i think sephiroth's relationship to gender is. i suppose i'm just projecting. the notion of creating a new body for yourself and ceasing to exist as the person you appear before others, hmm. relatable to me! so being in that position, i literally do not have a label for myself in any regard. i think similarly for sephiroth and apply it, personally.
i also use any and all gendered terms for myself, because i really just don't care, but i use them very flippantly. i do not care what i am lmfao the lion does not concern itself. again i kind of project this onto sephiroth only because of how. agendered she is. the pronouns too i feel like is just bullshitting, for me at least. using 'he' for sephiroth doesn't mean i think sephiroth is a man and using 'she' for sephiroth doesn't mean i think sephiroth is a woman. it's just more complicated than that.
and it's hard for me to put into words since i don't pay these parts of myself any mind so i can't even articulate what i'm really trying to say. it's all just what i think though! like i said, it's probably the only sort of headcanon i have? i hesitate to even call it a headcanon sometimes just because of how much of a non-answer it feels like LMFAO
it is also worth noting: the scrapped concept scenario where sephiroth partially transformed into a woman. although it was scrapped, there's a reoccurring theme of sephiroth transforming and having an unshakeable connection to what she sees as a feminine figure (jenova) and going as far as to merge with jenova therefore becoming it, using jenova to shapeshift (and shapeshift into another woman, tifa). despite the scenario of sephiroth transforming into a woman being unused, it just proves to me how the topic of gender transformation is literally in this character's DNA. i think it's significant enough on its own that it was sephiroth that was going to transform in such a way. but now i'm just rambling...
