I think the Knight (Frank Sinatra in private) post D-Day was of course was very prominent in the military, and involved in those proxy wars in South East Asia, Vietnam, Korea (ofc) essentially a warmonger! Bc ofc in absolute nixonverse we see his helmet littered with tally marks. Definitely pro US.

In Korea he encounters the Son- and that's where the Knight learns to be an Actual Hero. The Son keeps the Knight in check- like Day and (K)night. It changes him. So when the Last Son gets captured and brainwashed by the US and destroys Vietnam- the Knight becomes disgusted in himself and the US so he chooses to abandon the war front and disappears back to the US to continue living his life as Frank Sinatra.

Goes into hiding. He's so hurt and grieving over the Last Son and his inability to protect him- his inability to save him. Perhaps out of fear lest the Knight also be turned into a brain washed figure.

Even as the Queen of the Lunarians brainwashed the Son herself, turned Americans into Lunarians, he remained in hiding. Scared. Grieving.

He only comes OUT of hiding when Alice Avenue tells the Last Son's story. Perhaps the story Alice tells was wrong, perhaps that was something the Knight only knew from the Son in confidence that he didn't want aired out. All we know is that something enraged him about it and he ended up killing Alice.

Now the Knight would regret this. He goes insane! Defaces the Alice Avenue monument. Puts the head of the monument on as a helmet only to rip it off- his own head with it.

Now. Frank Sinatra irl was a man who struggled with his mental health. He had tried to kill himself many times. So I could imagine the D-Day Knight being the same. Unstable. But he couldn't kill himself, not in the way normal humans could die. When he does the Alcatraz checkmate, he turns himself, and the Queen, into pure Alcatraz matter. He becomes Everything. Like in the Deanverse.

Grief makes you a Monster.

You know, I was This Close to making some sort of fan design of Thomas Crawford for artfight just so more people would draw him, but the rules around fan characters made me unsure if I could do it in good faith.

AH YEAAAAH it's been a hot minute but I think I did! It's nice too that I can also kind of make her analogous to Columbia so I think I have a decent grasp on her.

I did think they would be interesting as a pair because he is fiercely independent and so is she. They both have a sort of martial thing going for them, too, one more formally a soldier while the other sees herself as a protector of the country in maybe a more abstract sense. Both being gifted with power but having no clear place among others. The Knight has been popularly seen as an outcast, singular in some way from others. I sort of imagine Freedom being guarded and self-reliant in a similar way.

Maybe this is all to say. I think if anyone could understand her, he would. I don't think either of them are keen to open up to other people but imagine if they felt matched enough and had the mutual respect to be kind of nice to each other. Maybe even more. Supernatural beings who find love and comfort in each other in a world that doesn't understand them....god help me.

Got Henry's ref done just in time! Tacking a bio below for you all

Henry was always an introverted person, who clung to computers and programming more readily than interfacing with people. He took solace in learning about computers, discovering how they worked and the logic behind their operation. Perhaps a symptom of his autism, he object personified computers since a young age, seeing their function as a unique form of experience and cognition. In this way, his love and affection for computers is more present and tangible in his life than most human friendships he has formed. He continued into adulthood to pursue a career in technology. While working under his last employer, Henry—naturally, underappreciated and tasked with remedying the corporations negligence of its equipment—was asked to cable manage the hopeless mess thst functioned as the building's server room. Something grasped onto Henry amidst the fray of wires, and that lithe, wiry something did not let go. Between Henry's frantic efforts to free himself, the hazard of the server room's state, and the desperation of a force other than the man present—an electrical fire erupted. Firefighters rescued a sooty, shaken-up Henry from the half-burned shell of the office building. He insisted not to be taken to the hospital despite his best interest. When he was released home, Henry suffered through the night...unable to fall asleep at the ache of something slithering beneath his skin. The living mass of wires living inside of Henry are a manifestation of the Extinction. They are deeply possessive over Henry as their host, and Henry has a troubled but "affectionate" relationship to them. He often uses his wires to subdue prey in order to feed the Dread Power he serves. As their relationship has gone on, both Henry and the wires behave symbiotically, and Henry has often been creative using the wires to his ends, including interfacing with technology both new and defunct to renew them to some sort of maligned sentience. His own wires and those machines that he awakens tear his victims apart, suffocate them, or otherwise kill them in whatever way he pleases. Henry takes a particular joy in letting his victims be consumed by technology as literally as possible. He currently works an IT job at a new office, where he can be found slinking to the solitude of his office as soon as he gets his coffee.
