“A soulful, dramatic Pop concerto, it’s emotive and communal, and the rose-toned new video was directed with reserved, intense focus by Constance Barnwell. “Mistress Mayhem” is the sweeping, sophisticated and brand-new single from London’s SERAPHINA.“ 🖤
This new Let’s Eat Grandma album is gonna be a good one, eh? The precocious British teens have delivered some real stunners in the lead-up to June’s I’m All Ears, including the SOPHIE-produced left turn ‘HOT PINK’ and the equally adventurous 'Falling Into Me.’ This week’s third single is a bit more straightforward but no less rewarding. 'It’s Not Just Me’ is another electronic pop song, this one co-produced by SOPHIE and the Horrors’ Faris Badwan, but this one won’t make you feel like the ground beneath you is in a constant state of metamorphosis. It features Rosa Walton and Jenny Hollingworth exulting in the reality of a reciprocal crush with a backdrop of neon laser synths and a head-bobbing pulse. The sleek digital production plus a scraggly vocal performance reminiscent of Hinds results in a truly winsome tune. There’s also a video directed by Balan Evans that takes this party outside among decaying architecture and a picturesque shoreline. Watch it above. [via Stereogum] Off Bloom show a tamer side to their mind-bending pop with Vera assisted new single 'Love Actually’. The three piece’s new track follows last year’s Love Like Me EP, standalone single 'Falcon Eye’ and their debut collection which was headed up by monster single and title track 'Love To Hate It’. 'Love Actually’ sees the band momentarily step away from the more agressive immediacy of their previous work in favour of a softer sound. They still manage to pack in the punch with subtle easter-egg-like treats in the form of glitchy samples, which reveal themselves during the track’s chorus. This makes sense as the track comes from a place of love, rather than an angst fuelled break-up. It’s a little bit more complicated than that though as the band explain “the song is about being so in love it’s almost unhealthy, but you can’t help yourself from falling. The feeling that something is almost too good to be true and you’re slightly dreading what’s to come but feeling ecstatic at the same time.“ Paired with the music video which was shot in the band’s London flat and co-produced by Aria Alagha, 'Love Actually’ is both sonically and visually influenced by the late 90s and early 00s. The title, obviously an homage to the film of the same name and having listened to everything from Green Day to Natalie Imbruglia during that period, they add

“We're a little bit in love with Pop-Noir songstress SERAPHINA. Her latest single 'Mistress Mayhem' is a goose-bump inducing piano balled come modern-day pop-song. Dwelling on themes of loss and heartbreak, the dark sustained instrumentation on this exquisitely produced track, perfectly compliments SERAPHINA's expositional and confessional lyrical style.“ 😍

Women in Music. The modern music scape is like none other that precedes it. Digital release, fast food rate music consumption and DIY artistry have become dominant methods replacing more traditional means (i.e. sitting at an eternal bus stop praying for a major label to come pick you up and sell you
