EMMA.

“Is it ever?” She almost scowled, hands closing into fists at her side. “I mean I know the Cold Peace was necessary, but the Clave just seem to take everything too far.”

“the cold peace hasn’t done much for any of us though has it? look at you and the blackthorns....not to mention it’s made my job harder. getting the downworlders to trust us clearly hasn’t been working as well as it used to.”

SIMON.

     “It rarely ever is good news these days…” Simon responded, brows drawing together into a deep frown. The Clave getting involved meant it was getting serious in Simon’s eyes, and he feared from the look on Alec’s face that he may have felt the same.

“this isn’t like before. this --- whatever they’re planning? puts the nephilim line completely at stake. all of us are in danger. you, clary, jace -- izzy...”   working with the downworlders had basically been all but a standstill recently. the radio silence from within the shadow world had the archer on edge, and knowing the clave thought this threat had gotten to the point of intervening --- meant all of this was very, very real.

MAGNUS.

Just the thought of Max being able to sense this shift didn’t sit well with Magnus. He wanted to protect his son – just like he knew Alexander did. “It wouldn’t surprise me, though I can’t say I’m happy about it. I would have hoped he wouldn’t come into such intuitions so early.”

“guess he’s a fast learner.”    the dry humored joke blanketed the room with its sardonic nature. jaw tensing as his gaze shifted to his fiance and slowly, he drug his knees up to himself, palm going to press into his eyes until stars erupted behind eyelids.    “it means something is going to happen, doesn’t it?”

MAGNUS.

                         It wasn’t hard for Magnus to watch on as Alexander attempted to get their youngest son to fall asleep – in fact it was something he adored watching. However, tonight Max wasn’t in the mood to sleep and it was clear his darling Shadowhunter wasn’t handling it well at all.    "Alexander, you know you would have better luck if you just told him his favorite bedtime story.“

“i did. twice.”    frustration traveled through him as he bent over a bit, hand rubbing along the tension twinging at muscles. fingers dancing like a pained pattern over his neck.   “he’s fussy. i think he knows. i think --- he can tell that something is wrong, magnus.”

“let me guess --- whatever the clave’s suggesting, it isn’t good news, is it?”

                          “max --- please.”    a sigh leaves tired lips as quick hand brushes against raven locks. his shoulders sagged as his frame all but collapsed against the child’s bedside and cerulean hues locked with mischievous glazed navy ones.    “you should have been asleep an HOUR ago.”  // @edomveined
