Seeing the ghost or the face of a person from the darkest parts of my past blooms evil. Evil feelings that linger in my mouth taste of the last words we said to each other.
I didnât even see you⊠you werenât there, but my heart weighs heavy with your memory.
For countless nights since our parting I prayed for your memory to erase from where it was embedded in my very soul, and for a while you were gone⊠now, today, in August, youâre back.
It only has to be enough for you.
You only have to be enough for you... It only has to make sense to you... It only have to matter to you...
8/2/2026 - Poem
Okay.
When I asked you if you were okay â I was
actually asking for myself.
When I looked into your eyes with concern â I
was screaming for help.
I was looking at my own reflection â trying desperately to
give myself what I needed you to give me.
I got caught running to the glass reflection screaming
back at myself in your eyes â and I tripped
on the first step.
Note by me 7/31/2026
I had a man ask about my husband today. It flowed so easily, âyou and your husbandâ
and I didnât correct him.
The warmth that spread through my body consumed me with this stranger assuming that someone could love me enough to marry me.
I never thought I looked like a woman who could have a husband, but here standing in my thrifted dress, I was.
Reading is political and it always has been. Here are some of the classic books on the banned list that you should definitely check out.
My first book review.
Book Title: The Nightingale
Author: Kristin Hannah
Date: July 30, 2026
I never read book reviews, letâs get that straight right off the bat, and I donât expect anyone to read mine, but I just have so many thoughts about this book I had to spill it out somewhere.
I loved this book⊠I was connected to every page. I finished it in less than a week, which is odd for me because it usually takes me months to finish any book. I went into this booking thinking it was a dumb historical fiction book that wasnât worth my time, because to be honest, my guilty pleasure fiction, not the classics or learning anything, was mafia don books and fae princes⊠basic bitch stuff⊠But I read The Nightingale because apparently there is a movie coming out sooinsh? Iâm not so sure, so I got the book from my DC Public Library, because there was no way in hell I was going to spend $32 for a new copy of a book, I told myself I wasnât even going to like⊠so I waited in the library queue, got the book.
I was hooked; I was connected. I missed my train stop multiple days in a row because I literally had my nose in a book. It was such a good story⊠it was a story I could physically see when I was reading because I knew what it looked like⊠and thatâs what got me thinking. And hang in with me here, how weird this era of story tellers is because of how documented this war and atrocity was.
I knew what everything looked like, the roads, the food, the trees, the trains, the clothes the women wore, the war bombed streets of France, the posters, the cars they drove, the difference between types of German uniforms, I knew it all⊠because I have seen it. Not firsthand, but in countless documentaries, countless dramas, I have heard about it from interviews with survivors. I havenât felt the suffering, pain, and anguish, but I know what it looks like. And I think we are lucky to have this for this war. All the atrocities that happened, we see them and we know them. We learn from them. We are scared by the mountains of bodies piled up; we see the tattoos on the arms of prisoners. We see the emaciated bodies and faces of horror from the civilians after the war. We see the bullet holes in the buildings across Europe, and we see the statues of the victors.
I loved this book. It transported me to a time I donât personally know, and I hope I never have to know. But I started thinking about all the other major atrocities and terrible events humans have gone through that were not as well documented. I will use my time on this planet as long as I have to not forget what has happened, the pain suffered by innocent lives, and the fact that so many times we are so close to repeating past mistakes. I will work to control and stop evil in this world, and hopefully, in some big or small way, I will succeed.
If you agree or disagree with me thatâs fine, please let me know what you think. If Iâm just a dumb girl who doesnât know what Iâm talking about, let me know that too. Weâre all here for just a little bit, and weâre all here to learn together.
