Talking about herself in such a high manner wasn’t usual for Harlowe, but it felt a little better to do it now since she could pass off most of the compliments onto Serena instead. Outside of her lyrics, being cocky simply felt odd to her– of course she thought she was great, better than the people who looked down on her, but saying it out loud was a different story. “You might not be front and center, but you’re still just as important. Good choreography can make or break a song, especially when it’s one being promoted. Besides, having all the spotlight is kind of overrated sometimes.” She laughed lightly, nose crinkling upward. “People that spend all their time tearing others down do it to try and distract from the fact that they don’t bring much to the table. Pretty pathetic, but I guess that’s just how human nature works sometimes. Whoever is the flashiest wins according to a brief glance.” Perhaps there was a more scientific explanation for it, but for now, she was satisfied with her own answer. It was a feel good moment, not an academic discussion, despite how much she always strived to be at the top and as accurate as possible.
“If anything, that says even more about your abilities. Of course you could make it back home, but you came here, conquered the language difference, and you’re still being amazing. Shit, just makes you better than them by default.”
( 火 。) the thin, tall girl hooted at the girl’s response in loud agreement, laughing softly afterward and sliding her hands into her pockets, turning towards the girl as they walked down the hall, walking backwards. “ya damn right, honestly,” came her response, and she beamed proudly. the purpose of her dancing was not to glorify herself, but to use her talents that had been given to her by her mother, to honor the woman who gave serena life, to remember her, and to show that to the world. she did it for the legacy. “i did do a lot of good things, didn’t i. and ‘m glad i’m here, i get a cute friend like you to good off around.” she smiled vibrantly, moving to the girl’s side and walking alongside her rather than in front of her, then hummed quietly. “ya feel like eating ? or coffee ? which do ya need the most ?” she offered, leaning towards her with a grin. “i’ll treat ya this time, how about that ?”
