She flinched when he snapped; even when they argued, even when they disagreed, he didn’t speak to her like that. “Don’t you think I know that? But I can’t just go home, Will, I have to do something.”
“We are too close to this, Jen, you know that. We need to go home and be with our son.” He said, not bothering to answer the phone, he just put it back in his pocket.
She grabbed on to his wrists, using his body for support. “I can’t breathe, baby. How am I supposed to go on? Losing the pregnancy, it... God. I didn’t know there was any worse pain. And this? I can’t handle it. I can’t breathe, Will.”
“We go on...like we always do.” He whispered, moving his hands to her waist and he pulled her closer. His eyes closed as he leaned his forehead against hers, leaning up slightly to kiss her forehead. “In and out baby...remember? Just hold onto me...” he whispered, wiping his eyes quickly.
Her fingers were curled around his shoulder as if digging her nails into his skin would bring Henry back. She felt weak and angry at the same time, fuelled by rage at the world but so tired that she didn’t know what to do with herself.
“I need him back.”
The feeling of her digging his nails into his skin was slightly painful, but it was nothing conspired to what he actually felt. He nodded slowly, lifting his hand up to cup her cheek.
“We need to pick up Michael.”
