I've had a random thought about episode 8 that is kinda a theory. Just hear me out on this one:

You know how Emily and Tara think that there's a connection between Voit, Laura and Lance?

What if... When Laura talked to her Mum on the phone about AI it was a casual hint/callback to BAUgate from last season? What if Laura and Lance were somehow involved in it and that's the connection they have to Voit? We know Voit knows about it because he told JJ and Luke. What if Voit was the mastermind behind BAUgate the whole time and he hired Laura and Lance to do his dirty work for him?

I know it sounds kinda crazy but yeah... What do you think?

Hmmm this is pretty interesting and I'm not sure I have an answer for you but it does raise questions.

The connection between Voit, Laura and Lance is an interesting one.

We know The Fan targeted Lance then used him to get to the team and Voit but is there a deeper connection between Voit and Lance?

Lance targeted Laura... Did The Fan just happen to notice and pick up on this and then decide to use him in his game or is there a deeper connection there... I don't know either.

The BAU gate thing just... It seemed like such a good plot point and could have had more far reaching consequences than it did and damn did it have a big impact on JJ but it seems like it was all just swept under the rug after JJ and Emily got high and was barely mentioned again.

We know that it was around years ago and that the FBI managed to take it down and we know Voit with his underground connections managed to resurrect it but the content was focused just on JJ.

Did Voit originally create it all those years ago when it was focused on all the BAU?

Did he happen to stumble across it at some point and then wonder why it disappeared and then decide to bring it back?

Why when he did, did he make the main focus JJ? What was it about her that made him decide on that?

There are so many questions left unanswered about many aspects of the last few seasons and I honestly don't know if we will ever get answers for all of them but it definitely leaves you wondering.
