You think passing around pictures of a Black man being murdered is activism? Like…like think about that. You think exposing Black people to videos and audio and pictures of a Black person being killed in cold blood is activism? Are you dumb? Are you stupid? Is there something wrong with you?
‘it’s for awareness!’ yep mmhmm, did you know they used to send out postcards of Black people’s mutilated/lynched bodies…? That just about every Black person has seen a mutilated/abused Black person since we were in elementary school???
And teachers/staff don’t even give you any warning before hand! When it came to learning about wars, my school gave out permission slips to show the images and videos. But for black history? Nah.
I remember in middle school when my class watched a documentary about Emmet Till and they showed his dead body near the end. I still remember everyone in the class gasping, crying, and screaming at that part. And the images we saw about the race riots and lynchings.
I can’t stand this normalization of displaying black bodies.
