What’s up @serpenthalf!!

Rocker! It’s been a while, but I haven’t forgotten you one bit! It’s a new year, and someone’s thinking about you~ they’re hoping that they can spread a little bit of the love and goodness that you provide to them. So I wanted to start this off with a thank you for being who you are, because it’s enough to make someone think of you when they’re considering who they want to smile today.

Next up! It’s good to see you still fighting the good fight out here. I went through some of your recent posts, and it shows a good strength of self and character that you’re so passionately moving to step up for minorities of all sorts, and those that have suffered through horrific things. That makes you, not only strong, but a just person, and honestly, I always got time for that in someone. Thank you, honestly, for that. Really.

Now here comes the new year~ and here’s to hoping you find a lot of happiness and love within it. I know life isn’t easy for you day to day… but I also believe that this will be a year in which things maybe get a little bit easier, and you feel more at ease with the support you have in it. Because you’re a good person, Rocker, and when you’re good, you attract like people with that light - and I think your light will guide you through this year. So here’s to a happy coming year for you!

the thing re: riverdale is i believe that at its core, television should exist to bring people together and to create excitement and joy, and i feel like riverdale is a show that consistently goes above and beyond at achieving this. You look at other top shows like game of thrones and i just have to ask…where’s the joy? where’s the wonder? Other than the first few seasons, it’s a show that feels joyless to me because it’s so bogged down by its own ego and the idea of delivering “serious” entertainment that it never reaches the full potential of what it could be. It set its own rules and standards of its universe in the first few seasons, and then when it eventually began to deviate from those rules and standards it felt like a decline in quality. Riverdale, on the other hand, created a fictional universe for itself which has no rules, and a production quality that has no standards. Therefore it’s almost avant-garde in the way it has developed outside of any set of structural standards or quality expectations. It’s a show where it’s impossible to jump the shark, because the shark was stuffed full of black tar heroin and on fire since day one. It’s exhausting at this point trying to find the emotional energy to even pretend to care about who is a secret long-lost targaryen at this point with game of thrones, because the show as it exists now feels like a betrayal of the show that i originally signed on for. But with riverdale i knew what i was getting into from the start, and it’s a show that has never masqueraded as anything other than the completely batshit dumpster fire that it is at its core. So that’s why when i get a frantic text from my friends saying “OMG did u see that betty and jughead are on the run from the yakuza after stealing the frozen head of j.d. salinger??!?!?!!?” i break out the mf popcorn!!!
