Top 5: by Stian Servoss
We’ve selected photographer, Stian Servoss, to recap his top 5 photos he’s ever taken. More details on these shots below…
This is a selfie that I took on Iceland where the camera was triggered mid-air with the phone in my hand. It was really hard to get the timing right because of the delay so I had to jump about 10 times to get it right. When I got it I realized that my ankles were swollen.
I’ve gotten a lot of comments on this one where people are calling my friend on the top of the cliff crazy. What you don’t see at first sight is that all the water is coming at me, not him. It was taken during a storm on the west-coast of Norway. All I can say is that I got really wet.
This was taken at the Lofoten Islands in a small fishing village called Reine. I was there to test the video function of the new Olympus OMD EM-5 MKII. The weather had been sunny for most of the trip. I was about to pack my gear as it suddenly started snowing. A lot. I ran down to some fishermen working at the docs to get a few video shots of them as they we’re lifting containers of fish from their boat to land. All of a sudden I noticed hundreds of birds going crazy in the background. I ran over to have a look and got this shot.
I took this from a speedboat in the ocean between Denmark and Sweden. We had around 3 meter waves hitting us when we stopped the boat to shoot. Even though my camera is weather proof it stopped clicking after this shot was taken. Luckily it woke from the dead one hour later as I got rid of the salt water.
Me and my girlfriend went on a roadtrip to Denmark this summer and I had found a few locations I wanted to shoot. When we got to this one (Råbjerg Mile) I was really impressed by the light and also the dessert look it had. At the same time I was also very disappointed by the insane amount of tourists that were around. I noticed a small spot in the distance without anyone. We ran over there and I asked her to jump around for a while.
